My grandma is old, my mom and step-dad...
My grandma is old, my mom and step-dad are still out of sorts post-Covid on Thanksgiving. My sister just had a divorce and works full time and she gets her kids Christmas day.
So I offered to make Christmas Eve dinner at my home, and bring the bulk of Christmas dinner food to my sister’s. As much as I love to cook, I am tired.
But everything is prepped and ready to go! I lived in this kitchen for 2 days.
A small turkey and sides tomorrow, and ham and lasagna for Christmas. We always had lasagna growing up with our Italian mom, so it’s nice to bring this one back. The kids get a little “meated out” this time of year. We got a small ham too, because who doesn’t like a glazed ham? Grandma wanted a ham. Grandma gets a ham.
I’m going to feast this weekend!
Gifts are wrapped, too.
You are a champion.
I mean, I was going to make a joke about doing god’s work, and then follow it with a whole bit about how there is no god…
But, you are a champion for doing this. Family matters, tradition matters.
So, y’know, maybe it’s not god’s work. Maybe it’s just work. It’s emotional work that matters. And you’re doing it.
