Books Are Humanity In Print
Such a beautiful, succinct statement, one that must not be passed up! I may need to come back & edit when I get this blogger’s name. I want to thank him/her for sharing this lovely quote on books so that I could share it too! (OMG, I’m already back here editing because autocorrect assumed I wanted to write “racing” instead of “READING”! Crazy! ;-)
Peace, love & great reading to all,
Sherrie

Books are the carriers of civilization…They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind. Books are humanity in print.

Excuses
A beautiful quote that is absolutely true and a gorgeous image! What more could a person ask for?

I’m not sure where this quote comes from, but I heard a fellow teacher tell it to a student: “Excuses only impress the person making them.”
I spent too many years of my life making excuses. Now, I just want to keep moving forward every day of my life. Thanks, for sharing this, Dray!
Peace, love & empowerment to all,

The longer you use excuses of any kind the longer you will continue in mediocrity. Rise above, expect more of yourself and begin to soar!!!
Today I am going to share with you an article I found on PsyBlog written by Dr. Jeremy Dean about the negative power of making excuses:
It’s natural to make excuses for poor performance but they can be dangerous…Most of us have a strong fear of failure.
It’s partly because we don’t want to look bad in front of others but it’s also about how we see ourselves. We are afraid to fail because it damages our view of ourselves, our self-esteem.
To protect our self-esteem, psychologists have found that people use all sorts…continue reading.

Personal
I agree, OM. Sadly, many people out in cyberspace can’t stand themselves so they spend their time trying to create hate and self-hate in others. Whenever possible we need to protect ourselves from these folks! And we need to warn others that they are out there! ;-)
Peace, love & self-love to all,
Sherrie

I feel like most people should like me and if they don’t they probably just don’t like themselves.

Ultimately, you either die making excuses, having lived a life full of regret and missed opportunities OR you admit to yourself and others that you abuse making excuses and determine that you are going to change your habits. – Daniel Ray, Why Making Excuses Is Killing Your Chances of a Successful Life.

Seek To Add Value To Your World
Thank you, Dray. I couldn’t agree more! ;-).
Sherrie
I could not stay away! I was going to wait till tomorrow to post, but I had a thought and had to share!
I speak with readers and writers throughout the week and it is so gratifying to talk and converse and meet so many different types of people. Meeting people is my favorite aspect of what I do. One of the most common questions or dilemmas that is put to me is “How do I live a fulfilled life?” And as I was sitting in the kitchen eating lunch the answer came to me with sudden clarity.
Most people seek fulfillment or seek to live a fulfilled life. And this fulfillment desire is one of selfishness. The truth in fulfillment is exactly the opposite of what most people think. I propose the idea that in order to be fulfilled one must learn to do for others and focus less on self.
There exists a…

Salvation
Beautiful poem, Susan. And by the way, nice to meet you! ;-).
Peace, love & the joy that comes from waking up each morning with your soulmate,
Sherrie
P.S. Of course, he's long gone by the time I get up but its all good!
Out of all the ones You chose to love,
Extend Your hand in loving grace
You filled my eye, held my gaze
And touched my fingertips.
I rose, caught off guard.
Now that I’m safe
In Your arms
I choose
You.

What is one of the most boring and tiresome words ever?
Like discipline, responsibility is one of those words you have probably heard so many times from authority figures that you’ve developed a bit of an allergy to it. Still, it’s one of the most important things to grow and to feel…continue reading

A heart-warming story about Alzheimer’s disease and love
It is a wonderful tribute that Mariana Llanos wrote this children’s book to help people understand Alzheimer’s Disease and how it affects our loved ones. It is very important that children be involved in the life of a senior. It is the difference between depression and happiness at the end of their lives.
It is also good for children to mourn along with their parents when they lose a loved one.
Thank you, Mariana! ;-)
Peace & blessings to all,
Sherrie

On 2014 I released my book The Staircase on Pine Street, a heart-warming tale of family love and Alzheimer’s disease. Now, to be honest, I haven’t had much luck promoting it. Or much time. Those who are familiar with the publishing world know how brutal it can be. Marketing is tough, when you are a one-man-band like me.
I’ve decided that this New year I’m going to give “The Staircase on Pine
Street” the attention it deserves. I just released it in KINDLE format for only $3.99. I’ll be working on other formats, as well as the Spanish version. If you have the opportunity to download it (or get the PAPERBACK version), please leave a review and share it with others. I honestly believe this little book can help children understand Alzheimer’s disease, and help cope with it, while reminding us of what matters most: living a…

Die Blaue Stelen
Not sure why I didn’t reblog this the first time instead of just having the title as a link, but here it is now! These are photos Ana Elisa Fuentes took in Germany as a reminder of Hitler’s Nazi Germany.
Also, hopefully a reminder for ALL of us to never get fooled again. (Though I am beginning to believe my country is going to have to learn the lesson through experience!)
Peace, love & justice for all,
