Well, duh

This is only my 3rd political post on my blog & those of you who know me outside of this arena know that I am a very left-leaning, (all) people-loving and very vociferous woman for the rights of all. All but those who believe the right to KILL is more important than the right to live in Dignity!

So, yes, I will say it, there is a large group of idiots out there that are willing to believe everything that gets shoved in their face, despite KNOWING that FOX News is classified as Entertainment JUST SO THEY CAN LIE!

And they call us obamamats!

Peace, love & justice for all (esp. the selfish!)

Sherrie

P.S. I wouldn’t support the Dems so much if someone would complain about the war-making machine! Instead it’s all stupid, made-up lies!

Dec 24: 64° F

This is crazy! My dad and I think that the earth shifted when that plant exploded in Japan. My husband thinks we’re crazy, but who else has an explanation? Global warming might explain the MidWest and Eastern United but what about the West? This is getting really weird!

Peace, love & lower utility bills for all,

Sherrie

Would YOU have passed this test?

Me? No, I can’t think outside the box! I just have to stay out of the box!

Thanks, Chris the Reading Ape, for another great post!

Peace, love & NO MORE BOXES,

Sherrie

You are driving down the road in your Corvette on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.

Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

However, you may…

Strength…

Reading this makes me very happy! I have always been a crier & mostly been embarrassed by it. With my 3rd (& forever) husband, I now cry in front of him (though I still sometimes hide my crying when I hear certain songs or see certain stories). The good thing is that what you feel, you remember (Cornell Notes, anyone?)! As a storyteller, that means that I can always come up with the perfect ending to my little stories within the big stories!

Thanks, Natalie, for sharing so I could share this too!

Peace, love & great storytelling for all,

Sherrie

Best Christmas Present Ever! ;-) <3

Hello everyone,

I trust you all had a lovely Christmas. I know some of you did as we have been in touch, either by e-mail or in person.

My goddaughter was here in CV to see her grandmother and for all of us to meet her beautiful 3 mo. old baby girl. I had given her a card, when she was pregnant, where I mentioned something about translating my novel but didn’t want to bother her about it. When I was ready to leave, I said “I guess you aren’t interested in translating the novel?” She said, “Yes, I am! My mom and I were arguing about how to translate something just before we left!” I told her about crowd funding sites (surprisingly she has never heard of them!). That got her even more interested! The cool thing is that both her parents lived through the war & can help her with all the Salvadorismos. She has a masters in law from El Salvador, but has been unable to get any job other than salesperson jobs so I think she sees this as a chance to do something at her level of training.

I am very excited, as you can imagine! I am also currently having a cover made for my prequel “Crimes & Impunity in New Orleans.” I plan to use the cover to help me raise money to edit & publish the story about Shelly before she goes to El Salvador. I plan to use a different site (Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated) as KS was quite difficult and I almost lost the entire amount. It was only because I had minor surgery & had to stay home that I was able to make my goal.

Wishing you all love, health & joy in the coming year!

Peace, respect & justice for all,

Sherrie

The slow-burn writer … What takes literary authors so long?

This is so good to know! I spent a few years writing my debut novel & before that, many years thinking about it. I think it came out at just the right time though, as 10 months in, I am still happy with it (except for a couple minor issues that only I seem to have noticed). I really want to get the prequel out sooner, but I guess that all depends on whether I can tie up all the loose ends and decide on one major storyline.

I feel much better, having read this post. For that reason, I am passing it along to my blog followers! ;-)

Peace, love & great writing (eventually) to all,

Sherrie

Nail Your Novel

Nail Your Novel literaryYou could split the writing blogoverse into two camps. There are those who streak through books, racking up a few releases a year. And there are those who incubate a manuscript for many, many moons. (I’m talking about experienced writers here, not those on the beginning curve.)

This is on my mind after Joanna Penn’s recent podcast interview with Russell Blake, where they discussed techniques for rapid writing. As card-carrying speed demons, they had a chuckle about literary writers who take their time.

And we do. Talking to my friend Orna Ross, we estimated the gestation for a literary novel as at least three years. For some of us it’s even longer. A few weeks ago I was chatting to an agent from Curtis Brown and she cheerily remarked that three years was fast for some of her writers. And then there’s the colossal amount of wastage…

How to Raise your Vibrations

These are all excellent ways to raise your vibration! I know No. 1 is true as many times I have been in a place that felt so sad, so stuck & then I went to the water. In Santa Monica, I walked to the ocean. That was the most lonely time in my life, but being near the ocean, breathing in the air & smiling at strangers, did wonders for me!

Thank you, Mysticalwriter, for sharing this so I could share it! ;-)

Peace, love & joy to all,

In an article, I read recently from wisdom-of-spirit.com they talk about how to raise your vibrations, raising them to the highest level brings Happiness, Joy & Peace in the present moment, the here & now!

When you raise vibrations you are able to manifest desire easily & enjoy the present time. When you continually keep your focus on the vibration, naturally raises. By doing this, you are more closely aligned with the most expansive part of our being…. Our Spirit!

it’s not the grand gesture

the great sacrifice

that proves what lies

in a heart

but the accumulation

of the small things

that go unnoticed

during the daylight

the evening

of our lives
