How I Got Here

This is One Blogger’s Journey. We all have our own journey. I don’t keep track of my followers. Nor do I look long at how many people saw my blog post, though today, it showed me how many posts per day. I’d rather see the original stats of how many saw my post, even though each post goes onto FB, TW, LI, etc. & I have no idea how many people see them there.

Mostly, blogging helps me keep writing, though, like someone below, I also should be working on my book, the prequel to my debut novel.

I posted a lot of reviews for a few weeks. That helped me understand why many people don’t post reviews.

All in all, I would say, blogging is a form of pouring your heart unto the page. I learned that some people will take your heart & stab it with holes. But OM (I just learned from Ann that his name is Jason Cushman) also taught me that it doesn’t matter because there are many people out there that get a great deal from what you say, so we need to ignore the detractors. They go away if you give them no attention. That is a cool thing I figured out.

So, let’s continue on our writing journey with the hopes that as time goes on, we may help more and more people to express themselves in print (even if they never show anyone what they wrote). ;-)

Peace, love & happy writing,

Sherrie

Ann's Corner

The Process, Jan 12, 2016

Reblog and revision of my very first blog post of 2 words, “Believe“, March 8, 2013.

I wanted to write. I knew people were blogging. I wanted to do that too, but I was afraid.

I had no idea how to get into the blogging world, but I opened the blog, called it “Ann’s Blog”, and let that one two word post sit there for quite some time. The theme I had was Twenty/12. I did not know what to do, had not yet met Opinionated Man and several others who would show me what blogging was supposed to be. That blog is still sitting there in cyberspace.

Somehow, I’m not sure how, I made another blog with a name I had used before in different places, “Ann’s Corner” to mean a place of sharing and caring. The…

I will see you in the morning. When the earth has drank the last drop of moonlight and I have had my fill of happiness. Goodbye to the need to say goodbyes. As obligation runs its course into the ground and dying thoughts become my crown. Can I leave without a sound. Without the need to punch the sun. Can I be content with the sound of a final sigh and the days I have passed by.

I will see you in the morning. I will see you another day.

130 Steps and Counting

I have a fairy too, that comes when I least expect it! ;-)

Men, lovely vacations are great, but an occasional surprise clean kitchen, TV room or car is what makes marriages last!

Just saying'! Cuz I know!

Peace, love & the joy of finding clean dishes,

Sherrie

In The Corner

Feeling guilty that I had left a kitchen full of dishes last night, I take my time getting up and getting busy. The dishes would be there – regardless of my preference to spend a few more moments day-dreaming, writing, and resting.  They usually wait.  They don’t usually get up and wash themselves.  Last night, there was far more on the “plate” than food – it was a celebration of 50 years of life for my hubby.  And that was far more important than doing dishes.

Today is the kind of day when you are not compelled to do anything at all, let alone rush to put out the garbage or tidy up from the birthday party of the previous day.  It is dreary.  I am sleepy.  Kevin is off to work and David is off to school.  It is the kind of day where you just want to stay…

T.G.I.F.: Hopp Hopp Herr Schmidt

That looks a lot like that dirty, little teddy bear from the movie. His name is Ted! If anyone wants, they could write a short piece about this cuddly guy or the picture in it’s entirety.

Peace, love & childhood memories,

Sherrie

dialogue help emotional show, don’t tell.

I already posted this on my FB page “A Page A Day,” (https://www.facebook.com/A-Page-A-Day-Lets-all-write-just-one-page-a-day-103970129720405/?fref=ts) but this is so excellent, it needs to be seen by as many as possible. Thank you, Kawanee! ;-)

Peace, love & great writing to all,

My Helpful (Hopefully) ABC’s of Writing

Let me just add this to Kelly’s list:

X-ray your work. Look at it so closely, you know it inside & out.

This post is for the LOVER OF WORDS!

Peace, love & great writing to all (the 7th time around!),

Author Kelly Miles

A- Accept that your first, third and more than likely your fourth draft will be crap, and that’s okay. It doesn’t have to be perfect, nor will it be.

B- Believe in yourself and your talents. If you don’t believe in yourself or your work, no one else will either.

C- Challenge yourself to write daily. Try to carve out at least 30 minutes to write. The more time you spend away from that paper and pencil (or computer) the easier it is to get out of the habit altogether.

D- Don’t give up.  Surge forward even when you feel like ditching a whole manuscript. Trust me, the time will come.

E- Editing. Need I say more? It’s a MUST. Don’t skimp on this one.

F- Forget the naysayers. They usually don’t have a clue.

G- Grammar is important. Know the difference between they’re, their and there if you want to be taken seriously.

Their song…

And just a bit more about LOVE!

Remember LOVE isn’t about you; it’s about that person you profess to love. If you aren’t happy with THEIR love, you don’t really love them.

I hope that statement doesn’t make anybody mad out there! ;-)

Peace, love & trust to all,

Sherrie

LOVE. Let’s talk about it… | Bonus Video

It’s almost that time of year when everyone who is not paired is made to feel very alone. I say: If you don’t have someone to love on Valentines Day, LOVE YOURSELF!

Your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you will ever have and if it isn’t a strong bond of unconditional love, none of the other loves will last because they won’t be real. We must first love ourselves before we can truly love another! ;-)

Peace, joy & unconditional love to all,

Sherrie
