Minnesota Independent: Franken urges reform on foreclosure 'robo-signing'
Sen. Al Franken participated in a U.S. Senate hearing on Tuesday regarding the foreclosure process and ways that the federal government could help Americans keep their homes while also preventing investors from losing their investments. Franken said that one of the biggest problems fueling the foreclosure crisis is "robo-signing," a tactic used by lenders to speed up the foreclosure process.

Firedoglake: Senate Judiciary Hearing Pushes Mandatory Mediation as Solution to Foreclosure Crisis
The Senate Judiciary Committee just wrapped up a hearing on HAMP, the foreclosure crisis and bankruptcy courts, presided over by subcommittee chair Sheldon Whitehouse. Only three other members of the Judiciary Committee managed to attend this hearing. Al Franken and Richard Blumenthal were there the whole time, and Republican ranking member Chuck Grassley poked his head in for a couple questions. If you want to know why we call it the forgotten foreclosure crisis, there's your answer.

Hmong Times: 2010 A Year in Review
During 2010 some historic trips took place.
U.S. Ambassador to Laos Ravic Huso visited in June 2011. Senator Al Franken's and Representative Betty McCollum's offices arranged a visit and community briefing with the ambassador at Metro State University. Huso had lived and traveled in the area extensively as a child and in his own long career.

Fox 9: Sen. Franken Speaks on Egypt Crisis
MINNEAPOLIS – Politically, Egypt protests cause a very delicate situation for the United States. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek has been a strong ally of the U.S. for decades, but many politicians also saying they respect the hopes of the Egyptian people. U.S. Senator Al Franken spoke with FOX 9 about the unrest. Franken called this situation with Egypt uncharted territory, also saying that to some extent we may not have that much control over how this turns out.

Paid Content: Senate Democrats Push For Even Tougher Net Neutrality Rules
The new Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives began trying to kill off the FCC's net neutrality rules the second they got into office. But many Democrats think the rules didn't go far enough. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Washington), who has been active on tech issues, has introduced a bill that would toughen up those rules. She joined up with Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) to sponsor a bill that goes further than the FCC rule changes to protect "internet freedom."

Project on Government Oversight: No Joking: Senator Franken Tough on Fraud
Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee tackled contractor accountability in a hearing entitled "TIME CHANGE — Protecting American Taxpayers: Significant Accomplishments and Ongoing Challenges in the Fight Against Fraud." Fighting fraud in government contracts is becoming a hot topic and one that can be a win-win for agencies, politicians, and taxpayers.
