Politico: Al Franken keeping eye on Epsilon breach

Add Sen. Al Franken to the growing list of members casting a skeptical eye on Epsilon.


A data breach that allowed hackers access to the names and email addresses of consumers who do business with Target, Best Buy, TiVo and other Epsilon clients led Franken (D-Minn.) on Thursday to vow to "do more to protect Americans' digital information."

Los Angeles Times: House Republican Budget would slash $5.8 trillion over the next decade

House Republicans on Tuesday unveiled their 2012 budget proposal, a document they hope will rebrand the GOP as the party of sensible solutions to government overspending with leaders willing to make hard choices.


The budget outlined by budget committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) takes considerable political risks — particularly in its proposal to remake Medicare and Medicaid, the core of the social safety net for the poor and elderly.

Stillwater Gazette: Franken tours 'neat little bridge'

U.S. Sen. Al Franken chose his words carefully when asked Saturday if he supported a new St. Croix River crossing bridge.


"I haven't made a decision yet," he said. "I want to talk to all the stakeholders. There certainly are very strong arguments on both sides. This is too important a decision to rush."

Mendota Heights Patch: Henry Sibley Robotics Team Keeps it Lean and Green

With the increasing emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math in both education and the economy, it's not just parents and students taking note of the events. Star Tribune: Franken takes a bridge tour

Sen. Al Franken listened Saturday to Stillwater officials seeking his support for a new bridge over the St. Croix River, strolled across the 80-year-old lift bridge that it would replace and promised to weigh the character of the scenic river and complaints about traffic in reaching a decision.

Twin Cities Daily Planet: Dai Vinh receives Bronze Star after 40 years

U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) at his Drake Bank Building office in St. Paul Friday, presented a Bronze Star to Dai Vinh, a Richfield Vietnamese refugee of 25 years, who fought as a Captain in the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces.

Northland News Center: Federal Report reveals errors in handling of Iron Range Prensions

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) — A federal report requested by three Minnesota lawmakers shows significant errors in the handling of thousands of Iron Range pension plans.


Eight years ago an outside contractor made a mistake when valuing the pension plans of more than 35,000 employees and retirees of the National Steel Company.
