Huffington Post: Al Franken, Ed Markey Press Steve Jobs On iPhone Tracking
Freaked out that your iPhone may be tracking your every move? So are Senator Al Franken and Representative Ed Markey, who have called on Steve Jobs to explain the situation.
Researchers found that iPhones and iPads track and record users' locations by latitude and longitude, sometimes hundreds of times a day, for up to a year, storing the file in an unencrypted format on the device.

Duluth News Tribune: Northland projects benefit from housing grants for tribes
Sen. Al Franken announced $1.7 million in housing grants for tribes in northern Minnesota during a Wednesday afternoon ceremony in a building that's soon to become Duluth's first American Indian center.
Of that sum, $500,000 will go to support the redevelopment of Duluth's old YWCA building into a 29-unit affordable housing development, complete with a community meeting space, a gallery, gym and wellness center, all on the premises.

KSTP: Apple's iPhone Records and Stores Personal Information
Some Apple products secretly gather and store personal information, raising privacy concerns.
The devices apparently take longitude and latitude readings, either from internal GPS receivers or cell phone towers -and store that information both in the device and in any computer used to 'sync' the phone.

Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) wants answers. After reports Wednesday that Apple's iPhones and iPads secretly store information of the user's location, Franken wrote Apple CEO Steve Jobs a strongly worded letter.
"The existence of this information — stored in an unencrypted format — raises serious privacy concerns," Franken wrote.

Ars Technica: Senator questions Apple over iPhone tracking
Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) wants answers. Security researchers today revealed the existence of a file on iPhones and on their computer backups that logs detailed cell phone triangulation data—and has ever since iOS 4 was released last summer. The information is stored unencrypted by default, and is simple to access. That announcement led Franken to fire off a two-page letter (PDF) today, asking nine pointed questions of Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Faribault Daily News: SAGE project can move forward
The spending bill signed by President Obama late last week included good news for SAGE Electrochromics.
SAGE's expansion project, which is projected to bring at least 150 permanent and 200 construction jobs to the Faribault area, was dependent in part on a U.S. Department of Energy loan.
