Level 26—Book Trailer Review

Picture I haven't read the book and if this trailer is any indication, and it should be, this is one creepy thrill ride! Yikes! From the mind of the creator of the CSI: series, Anthony Zuiker, comes Level 26 in its visual form.

Last week I talked about trailers coming in a variety of different formats/styles/content. Here's a book trailer from a creative mind(s) with money to spare. Live action with actors is probably the most costly of all book trailer productions. I think Mr. Zuiker has that covere...

Mastering the Dreaded Synopsis

Guest Column | April 19, 2017
Picture *From Writer's Digest's 'Guide to Literary Agents' Blog*
During my time in the writing community, there’s one thing I’ve noticed on which most people agree: how awful it is to write a synopsis. Authors are hardwired to avoid spoilers. They want to hook the reader, tease and tantalize them with half-reveals, until they can no longer stand it and dive headfirst into glorious pages. So, naturally, the synopsis challenges every instinct. Fortunately, there are a few...

Subcommittee passes bill to make Yucca Mountain the U.S. nuclear repository

*Here's another piece from the The Waste Lands Report* by Craig Fiegener and Marvin Clemons WASHINGTON, D.C. (KSNV News3LV) — Despite Nevada protests against it, a measure to make Yucca Mountain the nation's nuclear waste repository advanced in a congressional subcommittee Thursday morning.

On a voice vote, the House Energy and Commerce Environment Subcommittee advanced the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act of 2017 to the full Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.

It is unknown whe...

BOOK TRAILER REVIEWS-Gone Tomorrow

Today I want to start the new topic of book trailer reviews. In recent years, their necessity's been up for debate. On one side, it may ruin the readers' imagination of what lies within the book. On the other side, we live in the age of video and more people prefer to watch screen images than to read a book. However, I think book trailers, in all their good, bad, or ugly glory, are here to stay.

Book trailers come in many forms. Authors may sit and talk about their book. They may discuss the b...

'Horrifying Suspense'-Book Review of DEAD HEAT

Whew! Joel C. Rosenberg's political thriller, Dead Heat, shakes, rattles and rolls the world of the book and the reader, who invests time in its harrowing events.

Book #5 in The Last Jihad Series, I'm behind in reading about the terrifying tales of the Earth's last days before Armageddon in the first four novels. After a brief buildup, Rosenberg jumps right in with the United States under nuclear attack from an undisclosed enemy that decimate several American cities. In his Author's Note, Ros...

Tunnel collapse at Washington state nuclear site renews safety concerns

By Nicholas K. Geranios and Manuel Valdes
Associated Press

The collapse of a tunnel containing radioactive waste at the Hanford nuclear weapons complex underscored what critics have long been saying: The toxic remnants of the Cold War are being stored in haphazard and unsafe conditions, and time is running out to deal with the problem.

"Unfortunately, the crisis at Hanford is far from an isolated incident," said Kevin Kamps of the anti-nuclear group Beyond Nuclear.

For instance, at the Savannah...

'Gripping Narrative, But Excessive' - Book Review of FROZEN PAST

Well, well, well, Richard C. Hale’s Frozen Past. I won’t detail every twist, but here's what I will avow. The book states it’s a Jaxon Jennings Thriller, but he wasn't the first story focus. Teenager Luke Harrison and his friends Jimmy and John Besner and Ellie and Patrick Pemberton, get the ball rolling with the story setup. Ellie holds a special place in Luke's heart: She's his sweetheart and he'll do anything to protect his Goofy Goober. But the sudden abduction of a boy during Halloween i...

Trump administration to revive Yucca Mountain nuclear waste plan

By Brooke Singman | Published March 27, 2017 | FoxNews.com

Critics of the Trump administration’s plan to store nuclear waste in Nevada dismissed the initiative as "naïve" and "a token of affection" to the nuclear industry.

President Trump’s 2018 budget provides $120 million to restart licensing activities for the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository, as well as to initiate a “robust interim storage program,” to safely store nuclear waste for 10,000 years.

Nevada’s Yucca Mountain nuclear waste...

Perry pushes Nevada nuclear waste site in first official visit

Monday, March 27, 2017 7:10 p.m. CDT By Timothy Gardner

(Reuters) - U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry pushed for opening Nevada's Yucca Mountain nuclear waste site in a meeting with the state's governor on Monday, but the local leader said he remains staunchly opposed to the project.

The visit with Governor Brian Sandoval was Perry's first official travel since becoming energy secretary. The multi-billion-dollar nuclear storage project, which was rejected by former President Barack Obama, has be...
