Highlights of Book Signing
Most interesting moment: The guy rapping about the New York Subway.
Most hilarious moment: All the people who thought I was there to sell Kobos.
Most cool moment: Meeting all the tween/teen readers. (Like the kid who's writing a pirate story and the girl who came to get my book as part of her birthday gifts).
Most "aww" moment: The 20 month old who grabbed chocolate, then whispered, "thank you."
Most frustrating moment: Watching a mother ignore her toddler…and the toddler moved to the...

Had to change over the cats' food. Vet says to "mix it in with their old kind, so their tummies can adjust."
Uh. Yeah.
Cats now eating around the old food and harassing me for more of the new stuff.

Fear of Finishing?
I'm about two, maybe three scenes away from finishing my latest manuscript (not the sequel to Grime. That's on tap for next month). But holy smokes. In the past forty-five minutes that I should have been working, I've:
stared at the pencil container spun the chair in circles deleted emails from my i-phone sharpened my pencilsI don't get this. I'm almost done—shouldn't my brain be rushing for the finish line? Shouldn't I be exalting on how close "the end" is? Makes me wonder...

The Currency of Trees
Walking the furry ones and watched the yellow leaves flutter to the ground. Dead leaves make that unique, slightly cracking/brittle sound when they fall into each other, and it got me thinking how "money doesn't grow on trees."
And I found myself wishing it did.
How great it would be to have coins fall to the ground…but then I thought it wouldn't be so great—not for the birds. No place to hide or live, no soft material for their nest. And really, no good for us, either. Who wants to get...
