Let It Be Sunday, 423!
Friends! Welcome to Camp Joy!
Camp Joy started in the summer of 2020 when we were all, like it or not, Indoor Pandemic Kids. If you’ve been here for more than a few years you know that I took to the backyard with my video camera (lol my iPhone) to make a 90’s era summer camp for us. We made peach cobbler. I raided the craft closet and we made the daisy chains.

Sandwich Series: This is THE Road Trip Sandwich
Buckle up, friends! Today, we’re kicking off our summer adventures with the best road trip snacks: a mouthwatering sandwich that’ll have you craving miles of open road. What’s a road trip without snacks? A boring commute. Get ready to channel your inner wanderlust with this spicy sweet sandwich that perfectly combines comfort and excitement.
The cab of Will’s truck is the size of a living room. Every time I climb into the passenger seat, having packed the trailer, hitched the trailer to the truck, and helped Will tighten all the very important clamp dingle-boppers, I think it’s time to kick back and relax and let Will drive but NO, friends – it’s time to co-pilot.

Let It Be Sunday, 422!
Friends, hello and welcome to your Sunday! I have a little something different for you today!
Today, just days before the first day of summer and the official release of our summer zine, CAMP JOY, I’ve invited my dear friend Amy Estes to our Sunday. Amy and I are friends of gosh, 12 years, having met at a workshop in the Bay Area back when we both were wearing peplum tops and skinny jeans.

This Egg Salad Recipe Has a Secret Ingredients
Amping up the classic egg salad recipe with fresh herbs, crunchy celery and red onion, and a few hearty spoonfuls of extra protein. This egg salad is extra rich and creamy and absolutely my new favorite!
Friends welcome to our second installment in our Summer Sammie Series in which I made a very good Egg Salad Sandwich.
If I have my finger on the pulse correctly, egg salad is pretty divisive.

Let It Be Sunday, 421!
Friends, hi! Hello it’s Sunday!
What started as a sweet and easy Friday morning motorcycle ride with Will somehow evolved into window shopping for new motorcycles, and quickly escalated into me trading in my beginner motorcycle for this real deal Harley Davidson. Can you even believe!? She’s so beautiful. I’m taking her for a ride this morning and wow can I just say – the fact that I learned how to ride a motorcycle in my 40’s and now ride a Harley surprises the heck out of me.

Sandwich Series: The Collard Green Melt
My take on Turkey and the Wolf’s iconic Collard Green Melt Sandwich on toasted rye with coleslaw, tender melted collard greens, and the most important sandwich condiment, Duke’s Mayo! If you can’t make it to New Orleans to get this sandwich at the source, you can make this very stellar version at home!
On the list of must visit places to eat in New Orleans is Turkey and the Wolf in the Lower Garden District.

Here’s What I’m Eating: Black Bean Soup
I’m slowly morphing into my parents with every year that passes and boy howdy, these years keep sneaking by. This morph can show itself as a quick glance – the one my mom uses instead of saying something less than kind. It’s revealed itself in the way I recently said, “Well, who said life was fair?” to a friend, echoing my mom’s painfully true sentiment to us as kids.
Lately, I’ve been in my There’s Food At Home Era which was a thread through every chapter of the Cliff and Patty Parenting Manual.

Let It Be Sunday, 420!
Friends, hi hello it’s Sunday!
Thank you for the sweet birthday wishes last week! Will and I spent last weekend in Los Angeles with my family. We went stand up paddle boarding with my uncle Dan, and now we’re combing Facebook marketplace for standup paddle boards of our own. We rented a few boards and took to the Gulf of Mexico yesterday and I have a stomach rash from the board and a sunburn on my thighs to prove it.

Let It Be Sunday, 419!
Welcome to the unofficial start of summer! Memorial Day weekend in Chicago feels… electric and alive. It feels like you’ve made it to life’s weekend. Everyone is itching to get out and do anything, anything at all, and you do. It’s time to watch your uncle throw a little something on the grill in his huarache sandals and signature turning tongs.
In other news, I worked this week, y’all. I mean, I WORKED, okay?
