Our Valkyrie Rob Thurman is Holding Steady…
Hi Everyone,
Well, our feisty redhead is just kinda treading water. No more big improvements since The Moment of Awesome the other day.
I'll take this as a good sign, though: her body is recovering slowly, but it IS recovering. As long as she doesn't decline, in my opinion, we're golden. The body knows what it needs to heal, and often, time is the most important factor. Time and rest.
For those of you who have asked about flowers and gifts, her mother appreciates your kindness and thoughtfulness, but Rob is still in ICU and unable to have anything in her room.
Also, when I personally put myself in Rob and her mother's shoes, I had a bit of an "aha!" moment myself: a huge barrage of gifts and flowers would only add to the stress, you know? Although we mean well by wanting to send gifts, neither Rob nor her mother need to be any more overwhelmed than they already are. Just sharing my own epiphany over that, because believe me, I've had my own finger on the florist button ever since I first learned of the accident.
As always, keep the kindness and thoughtfulness coming in online comments, thoughts, prayers, beams of healing energy, and if you can, by increasing The Reaver Army!
Thank you all so much.

And Now… a BIG Step Forward for Rob

Our Valkyrie Emerges...
Picture this: Rob sitting up with a long, red-haired braid hanging down over one shoulder. Awake, aware and not hooked up to a ventilator anymore.
Her mother's description put so much joy into my heart, tears were streaming down my face as she gave me today's report. And I also couldn't help but immediately visualize Rob as an ass-kicking valkyrie!
As amazing as this news is, she is still not quite fully recovered, and there is more medical work to be done, so we're not out of the woods, but damn, damn, close. So close, I may actually sleep decently for the first time in over a week!
As soon as I find out where/when she can receive cards, gifts and/or flowers, I will let you know. As far as a PayPal donation account – many of you are asking about this and wow, you're amazing! – I really can't set anything up until she is in a position to discuss these things. PayPal requires technical and financial information that really should not be on Rob or her mother's minds right now. FULL recovery first. THEN we talk donations. Okay?
In the meantime, keep doing what you're doing, Reavers! Don't back down just because she's had a great step forward… she will need our continued prayers, energy, love and support as she rises out of the ashes.
But feel GOOD about what we've been doing together for Rob. Our feisty, red-headed valkyrie author is coming back to us. Slowly but SURELY, she is coming back!

Another Small Step Forward for Rob
Okay everyone, she's off the ventilator! This is VERY good news.
She is disoriented right now, not quite sure what is going on, but as much as she's been sleeping and/or sedated, that does not surprise me. The doctors feel she should be clearer-minded by tomorrow.
For those who've asked, she is not yet in a room to which flowers/gifts/cards can be delivered. As soon as she is and if her mother feels it isn't detrimental to Rob's security and recovery to volunteer that kind of information publicly, I will share that the moment I can. If for some reason she will not be in a position to receive gifts, just keep doing what you're doing: sending love, light, healing, prayers and buying her books.
I hope you all are having a good weekend. I am exhausted – physically and emotionally – but filled with such hope!! It's so nice to see some light at what has felt like an endless tunnel.
So – yay for baby steps forward!!!
WE LOVE YOU, ROB!!!!

Updates on Rob: No News is Stable News
Hello Reavers,
No real updates to report on Rob. She isn't off the ventilator yet, but she hasn't declined, so this is good.
Her mother wanted me to thank you all from the bottom of her heart for offering up to donate to Rob's medical expenses. However, it won't be necessary. So the best thing to do is what we've been doing: sending up all our love, prayers, healing energy and buying her books. It's not a coincidence that she started improving once we all put our energy together y'know… So keep on keepin' on, just like we want Rob to do!
If you hear nothing from me, please assume she's stable and there's nothing to report – which to me, is good news, because stable means she's in a state of healing. I'm in touch with her mother daily – not a single day goes by without doing that… if anything changes for better or worse, you will hear from me. I have a lot of hope today that the changes will continue to improve.
Thank you all again and again for your support! I swear, when Rob next appears at a convention, I'll want to go with her, just so that I can personally hug you all.
xoxo,
-Jayda

SLIGHT Improvements on Rob's Condition
Okay, everyone, I think what we've collectively been doing together in our hearts for Rob is beginning to work.
The lung doctor came in today and believes that she MAY be off the ventilator by tomorrow. Still not a definite, but I'll take this as a good sign and forward momentum.
Anyway, that's the latest update. It's not a huge improvement, but damn, it's AN IMPROVEMENT! She hasn't had one of those in a week, so…our kickass author is fighting and I KNOW we're giving her strength.
Keep doing what you're doing, Reavers!
Love to you all,
-Jayda

Update on Rob & What You Can Do
Hi Everyone,
Rob is still not doing well. As a matter of fact, since my post yesterday, she has gotten worse.
Lots of questions have been coming in on what you can do for Rob, where you can send gifts/cards/flowers, etc. etc.
There is no physical room to send any gifts to because Rob is still in ICU. She cannot log onto her computer to read anything. I know how strong of a relationship Rob has with her Reavers, which is why I wanted to be as straight-up with you as possible without divulging the kind of personal details that I'm not at liberty to post.
I asked her mother what we COULD do – if ANYTHING – and her response was, to buy Rob's books and share them – that buying her books would make Rob happiest.
Please know your supportive comments and love has been helping her mother as much as it's helping Rob. And I know Rob can feel the power of your love and prayers. Her mother has been speaking to her as often as possible, letting her know how much you all love her. So please keep it coming. And As far as sending gifts, flowers or cards, buy her books instead.
My hope is WHEN she gets through this, she'll come out of it and see a big boost in sales that would show her how much we all have been pulling for her.
You all are wonderful… she is so blessed to have such amazing fans.
Until I get an update from her mother, no news is good news, okay?

BASILISK Party Hangover – Status on Winners & Sneak Peek
We are planning to contact the BASILISK party attendees who won "door prizes" personally by email sometime next week. We will also announce it all here, but first, by email. Also, we are planning to reveal the DOUBLETAKE sneak preview to ALL who participated sometime next week.
We'd originally intended on announcing it all this week, but… Misha & Cal decided to take their blog invasion to Rob's house after their AAA meeting. WHEW. Need I say more? As if nursing a fluffernut-and-Three-Musketeers hangover from OUR party wasn't enough to contend with.
Hope you all had as much of a blast as we did! If you want to go back and look through ALL the entries, click here.
Happy Friday! -Jayda

Rob Thurman's Blog Timeshare: Cheap & Filthy [Part 6]
Cal: "Time to get the hell out of here before I do shoot you," I grumbled, dropped the purple stained apron to the floor, and grabbed my jacket. "I'm going home, apologizing to my brother, doing my and his laundry both and then I'm not leaving the apartment for six months. If it's the only way to be sure I don't end up half dying and then waitressing for a hundred days when I recover, then that's what I'll do."
Was the Misha guy worried? Of course not, the bastard.
"I'll be fine," he dismissed. "Maybe I'll build a personal force field, one that repels bullets, out-of-control trucks, and collapsing buildings. Any project that keeps me away from building a particle accelerator makes Stefan happy. He has a phobia about black holes. He's such a technological baby." Misha was staring at the tattoo that circled my arm. "But maybe you should stop at a tattoo parlor and get that fixed first before you go home."
I eyed him suspiciously. "Why? It's Latin for Brothers-in-arms. Niko and I are real brothers, but we're brothers on the battlefield too, fighting monsters, facing death. Have all our lives."
"Ah. That makes sense. Very Butch and Sundance of you. I like Butch and Sundance. Partners to the end." He slung the strap of the messenger bag over his shoulder. "And I like Latin. A very sensible if dead language. And that is Latin on your tattoo, but it says Brothers in Each Other's Arms. I'm surprised your brother didn't mention that. You said he was smart. Maybe he didn't want to embarrass you. Did you know there was once a fighting unit called the Sacred Band of Thebes made up of only gay couples, so they would fight harder as to not shame their honor in front of their lovers? I saw it on the History Channel. It said…"
"Shut up! Shut up about the damn History Channel. It does not say Brothers in Each Other's Arms! I have not been walking around for year with Brothers in Each Other's Arms tattooed on me! Niko knows Latin. Goodfellow knows Latin. One of them would've said something."
Niko who locked me in here because I was annoying him to the point of psychosis. Goodfellow…Goodfellow who would've paid the tattoo guy just to get it wrong.
There was that Latin professor who had the office next to Niko's at NYU. He was always patting me on the ass. Niko said he was aiming for a friendly pat on my back, but was legally blind and I should be more understanding of the handicapable…
Those sons of bitches!
I looked at Misha. "How would you like to see an entire bar full of monsters? Werewolves, vampires, revenants, peri, succubi?"
He grinned, Frankenteen believed in Santa Claus again. "Can we stop for a camera first? I'll want more pictures than my Blackberry will hold. Oh, and what's it cost? The monster tour?"
He was a smart kid, because nothing in life is free and revenge is best served with a lab created genetic mutant. My grin was considerably darker, pure evil.
"Let's just see how much shrinking you can really do."
The End (of Niko and Robin?)
