Is that what I was trying to say?

So I use Google Alerts to find reviews of my books.  It's very handy.  Just type in my name and book title and Google sends me all mentions of the book.  It's one of the non-writing aspects of my job as writer.  Along with marketing, promo, publicity, etc., I collect the reviews for each book, put them in a Word document (usually with just the best lines or usable blurbs highlighted) and then forward to editorial.  They use them for cover and front matter.  I also use it for my website.

Critters!

So some of you who read my vampires and werewolves have probably noticed the Critters of Mossy Creek cover at the right and wondered, 'what the heck?'.  Severo would kick that critter to the curb!

Actually, Severo would probably take the poor thing in and feed it and make sure it found a nice home.  Evie would do the kicking.  ;-)

So the Mossy Creek series is a long-running set of stories from Belle Books, a small publishing house headed by Deb Dixon and Deborah Smith.  I was asked to write a ...

Angel wings

So I just got back from the Ren Fest.  I think I'm all Renaissanced out for about...a decade.  I look forward to it every year, and then, well, all we do is eat and shop and watch a few shows.  And there's not a thing wrong with indulging in Chicken On a Stick and fruit tarts and turkey legs.  And I do love checking out the artist's booths, and wish I had a bigger budget so I could invest in more gorgeous fantasy paintings for my walls.  But it's become a bit like 'been there, done that'.  So...

Retweet! Contest!

So I'll be tweeting on Tuesday September 1st about After The Kiss. I think I'll probably Tweet about four times during the day, with a link to read the first chapter at my website. I'd love everyone to please retweet my Tweets! I want to spread the word about this short story, and also want to see exactly what I can do with Twitter.
So will you help me out? If you're on Twitter, make sure you Follow me now (@michelehauf) and then when you see me post about After The Kiss, please retweet! T

After The Kiss

It's available! (If you're reading this on Monday you can pre-order. Tuesday it is really-for-real available.) My second Nocturne Bites story, and the followup to Moon Kissed. When I sold the Wicked Games series my editor had originally asked me to do a Bites to introduce the series, perhaps with another Highwayman as hero. But there can be only one Highwayman, I gently argued with her. (And because of that argument I still think 'Highlander' more often than 'Highwayman' when the book come

We Love Vampires

I'm not sure if I mentioned, during the fab guest TBR spots, that I started a new blog about vampires. Actually, two new blogs. (It is a sickness, I admit it. The blogs, not the vampires.) VampChix is all about the vamps, the writers, the movies, guest interviews with writers, news flashes about vampires and conventions, etc. If you like vamps, you need to add it to your blog crawl. I have some amazing help with the blog in the form of regular posters, which include, Roxanne Rhoad, Patrici

Movies

Last weekend I saw The Time Traveler's wife, kleenex in hand. It was excellent, but very sad mixed with moments of happiness. Week before was Julie & Julia. I could have done with much less Julie and all Julia. Streep and Tucci together again. Such joy!

I need movie recommendations. I could go for great action adventure if it had a terrific plot/dialogue to match. Or a quieter piece. I'm really craving some delicious historical costume drama. Rewatched Dangerous Liaisons the other night

Swell smelly things

Got my order from Villainess Soaps today!  If you like Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, you really need to check this place out.  They have perfume oils, soaps, lotions, and a few other neat things.  Great scents!  I want to take a bath right now and try this stuff out.  Great gift for your favorite 'villainess'.

Also, here's a neat deal from Eos. You can get a free lip balm, and send a free one to your friends. I tried to post through Facebook with their application, but it didn't work. And it didn
