Attention Authors: You’re Killing Me, Smalls… #authorlife #promobasics

I do a lot of work with other authors. After all, collaboration, paying it forward, sharing information and all that – it’s a wonderful thing. Writers are my tribe,  and I get excited every time an author friend hits the bestseller list, and I cheer on each new book release as if it were my own. I love you guys.

However — some of you are driving me fucking nuts because you’re sabotaging yourselves and you don’t even know it. You cannot imagine my frustration when I go to look for you on the w...

Days 1-6 : A Rough Start #DoMagick

I have been focusing on trying to keep my stress levels down this month just because I know how bad January was. This month could be worse since by the end of it, we should be moving all the other departments into the new office.  Admittedly I have not been doing so well stress-wise. I have knots in the muscles along my spine, a permanent eye-twitch, anxiety, and irritability. I’m tired. Really fucking tired. The beginning of the month at the day job started with billing, and it doesn’t help...

Informal February #DoMagick

Due to my extremely chaotic publishing schedule and how January’s mayhem office move kicked my ass – I was thrown behind on my current projects, which means February is my catch up, month. So while I will be participating in February’s challenge informally — I will not be blogging daily. I may just write one blog a week. That way you can all get a feel for what I’m working on and how the week went, and I won’t be going crazy trying to find a half hour a day to blog. When you’re on a deadline...

Truths About Self-Publishing #writing #indieauthor

I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to run across another “old timer” who is under the erroneous assumption that traditionally published = better authors and better quality books. This antiquated idea is still perpetuated by those who make their living, somehow, through the big-five, or other large presses. They’ve likely been told by a publisher representative, agent, old-school author, or corporate industry insiders that independent publishing and ebooks are ruining the publishing wo...

Welcome 2018! #newyear #tarot #lenormand

I decided to pull some cards for myself to get an overall career vibe for the coming year.

Tarot: 9 of Cups — I will be satisfied and pleased with how things go in my career this year. Lenormand: The Moon — Professional Success and Recognition (resulting in tangible benefits). Funny because the moon also rules over careers dealing with anything creative or esoteric.

What’s leaving my career life in 2018:

Tarot: The Moon (Reversed): Fear, Unhappiness, and Confusion. I’ll be honest, I did s...

Excerpt: Inherited Djinn #coming2018

The following is the unedited excerpt from the novel INHERITED DJINN (Djinn & Bourbon Book One) releasing from Darkerwood Publishing in late 2018 (tentative):

In the dark corner, the bottle appeared to actually glow. I went over to it and grabbed it, turning the heavy glass in my hands. I shook it.

The thing inside said, “Hey, what the fuck, man? Why do you have to be a wanker?”

I looked at the bottle more closely. It was just a syrup bottle about ten inches tall, shaped like a thick woman, b...

Day 30: Meditation Challenge #DoMagick

This was it — the last day (of journaling it anyway).  In today’s meditation, I focused on getting a podcast interview done and finishing the final touches on DPM so I can release it tomorrow! I am thrilled to almost have it done. (Still working on it as of writing this.)

Starting Monday my focus is on Eagle’s Talon Gray and Falling From Grace. The plan is to have ETG out by January 31, and to have Falling From Grace out by February 28! Got a lot of good news this weekend, too. First – my wri...

Day 29: Meditation Challenge #DoMagick

This morning was another one of those days where I had a hard time focusing during meditation. It’s all quite a blur really.  Sitting still and being in the present moment while focusing on everything you need to get done in a day is sometimes more tricky than it seems. I found my thoughts going to a friend who had surgery today, and a few times my mind jumped to the publishing schedule and whether or not I’d be able to stay on track. So far, I’ve been okay with it.

Ended up working late and...
