Summoning 5: Reading #DoMagick
Did my ritual today (after two meetings) and so far I’ve stayed on track with my schedule. Gotten a lot done. Today is my reading day, which means I have about 5 people to read for. So I thought perhaps I should do a reading for myself. So here goes:
I thought I would do a short one. So looking at my current situation I asked for a past present future.
Past: two of pentacles – a great deal of multitasking and adaptability. That sounds about right considering I have been burning the candle at...

Summoning 4 – Relaxation #DoMagick
Today I did my ritual as written and followed up with my usual meditation. After that, I added some strength training exercises just to get the blood pumping. I did not do my grocery list last night. Instead the exceptional spouse and I decided to do like real people and go to the grocery store later today. I’ve been spoiled with curbside pickup, and will continue using it. I just need to get some walking in.
So with regard to writing – aside from the blog, my scheduling, emails, and typing...

Summoning 3 – Being Present #DoMagick
Today was a damn good day. I took my time going through the motions of the ritual, this time actually feeling the morning light seep into every pore, feeling my muse – a being of light – step into me. I felt very at peace by the time I left for work.
One of the first things I did when I had a moment was to delete Facebook and Messanger from my phone. While I did stop in and check on FB once already today, I didn’t linger or allow chats to drag me into the constant social media connectivity....

Summoning 2 – The Resistance #DoMagick
I am resisting myself. I did about 900 words yesterday and about 200 today. These are low numbers for me. I know the blog posts do suck up some of my writing time. I blame the allergy triggered migraine brought on by my nasal allergies. I was able to shake it, but the meds leave me feeling foggy and tired. I was not all that hungry today either. When I went to lunch with my sister I had some eggs and meat and brought the rest of it home. I had some fruit tonight. My ritual this morning was a...

Summoning 1 – The Muse is Back! #DoMagick
I woke up earlier today just to make sure I had time to perform the ritual as written with a few additions. I do better when I memorize what I’m going to say without having to read from a script. Hence the reason I keep orations short and sweet. I probably could have done more stretching this morning. I’ll do a longer sequence tomorrow. The ritual went flawlessly, then I hauled my ass to the office for a long day of cleaning up the piles on my desk and finishing some reports.
I came home, did...

Summoning the Muse #DoMagick

Today I’m going to share with you my “Summoning the Muse” ritual that I’ll be performing every day in August as part of the #DoMagick Challenge for August 2018. For those of you who are creatives, I encourage you to join in with me and see if this little ritual makes a difference in your inspiration and creative productivity for the month.
Begin by opening the temple, saying any prayers, and invoking any spirits whose influence, guidance, or wisdom you need. Next...July 27, 2018
Preliminary August #DoMagick
I have finally figured out what I’m doing for my August #DoMagick Challenge. The topic for the month is summoning. As you likely know, Daemonolaters don’t like, or use, the word summon on principle alone. You summon a servant or something that you control in some way. Perhaps it is silly semantic nonsense, but it did give me a new perspective of the challenge. That said, I could really use some motivation/inspiration. One of the things I need to get back on track is the writing because oth...

Illuminated Darkness: Excerpt
The following is an unedited excerpt of Illuminated Darkness (OTS #5)
I like the Goetia programming, Lucifuge told me.
“You would,” I murmured to the Daemon. Ever since he’d helped me out of my last bind, he’d taken his role of protectorate a little too far. Lately a day hadn’t gone by when he didn’t show up to say something, oftentimes jumping into my body at strange moments, sending every cell dancing with vibration. It was like being plugged into an electrical socket.
You don’t like it?...

Cocky-Tales – Support Creative Expression
My short story, Cocky Habits: A Catholic Chicken-Shifter Romance is now available as part of the anthology Cocky-Tales: A Multi-Genre Anthology!
Cocky Habits (A Catholic Chicken Shifter Romance) is about Father Cochburn, a priest obsessed with his chickens, and his pet cock. (It sounds a lot dirtier than it is, but it’s all in ridiculous, satirical fun for a good cause.) I wrote this one as Anne O’Connell.
Cocky-Tales anthology is a peck-tacular limited-edition collaboration of authors and po...

Summer Update #writinglife #thirteencovens #whateverelse #DoMagick
So first thing’s first. My June DoMagick challenge was a success, but I just need to take pictures of my hand written journal entries, upload them, and make a post out of it. Sorry I didn’t blog all June but I was damn busy and when it comes to choosing between daily blogging or daily writing on my projects, the projects will always win out since that’s what pays the bills.
In News: As Anne O’Connell I sold a funny little short story I wrote to a satire anthology. My story is called: Cocky H...
