Day Eight: Talismans – Origins #DoMagick
Today’s talisman is about finding the creator within and tapping the origins of one’s creativity. It’s also about finding that divine source and tapping the chaos and randomness that, through creativity, manifests and takes shape into something we can experience with the senses. I didn’t use color just because while ideas may manifest in color, before that, they are just ideas and full of infinite possibilities.

Day Seven: Talismans – Possibilities #DoMagick
Today’s talisman is all about possibilities. Hope, creativity, and the many opportunities for these things in our daily lives. This talisman attracts these things.

Day Six: Talismans – Intuition #DoMagick
Today’s Talisman is about creative intuition. I used both green and orange for creativity, the snake to symbolize wisdom, Jupiter to symbolize expansion, and Venus to attract ideas.
Basically – this talisman is all about drawing more creative intuition and wisdom into one’s life.

Day Five: Talismans – Momentum #DoMagick
Today’s talisman is to inspire momentum. To institute action from the initial “spark”. The many roads leading from the spark are the opportunities and possibilities – and the half circles and dots are reminders to pause and enjoy the journey every so often.

Day Four: Talismans – Joy #DoMagick
Today’s talisman painting is all about Joy! I chose Egyptian sigils for the gods that I find rule inspiration, insight, creativity, and success. (Ra, Wadjet, Ptah, Atem) This talisman is about manifesting joy in creativity.

Day Three: Talismans – Revealing #DoMagick
Someone actually told me yesterday that a picture couldn’t be a talisman. I laughed and asked, “Have you read the Black Pullet? Shit, that book is full of artwork talismans. One with a duck!” Hell, your lucky sock could be considered a talisman. Just sayin’…
But that is neither here nor there. Today’s Talisman is a Leviathan seal variant that focuses on revealing the creative muse on a spiritual-emotional level. The seal also keeps the bearer from revealing information too soon as to keep it...

Day Two: Talismans – Soaring #DoMagick
Today’s talisman brings about creative rebirth. Please know up front that while I may love drawing and painting, I am no artist by any means. At best I’m abstract/impressionist. The fact is that art brings me so much joy and relaxation and I do it for me. Sharing this is actually making me giggle because it shows that, as far as art goes, words really are my natural medium.
I hope my “art” inspires those of you who don’t feel artistic, to try your own talismans in a variety of mediums. Creat...

Day One: Talismans – Recovering Power #DoMagick
Today’s raw drawn talisman was inspired by my Artist’s Way morning pages. The area we’re exploring this week is the false beliefs we have about our creative work and where those come from. So I was inspired to create a talisman that recovers creative power away from those self-limiting beliefs and the naysayers who implanted them.
The talisman is activated whenever these things/people rear their ugly little heads. It feeds off of that negativity and transforms it into creative energy. The pur...

December #DoMagick Talismans: The Plan
Yes, I am doing the December #DoMagick challenge! YAY. Talismans galore! I’m also embarking on the two month Artist’s Way Workshop with a few writing friends, so I thought why not find ways to combine the two events into various talismans? So then I thought — ART! I am going to draw, paint, or sculpt a new Talisman every day for whatever that day inspires.
I am feeling incredibly inspired by Sorath, Paimon, and Lucifer this week.
BTW – the ongoing Sorath and Paimon work is going swimmingl...

The Whiny Entrepreneur
We all know these people. They wake up one day, decide to start their own business, and when it doesn’t pan out immediately, they start whining how hard it is to be self-employed. I get it! I’ve been there off and on in my 27 years as a writer trying to make my living from my creative work.
There are a few things I want to point out to my fellow creative or “holistic” type entrepreneurs (including animal energy workers, massage therapists, life coaches, business coaches, anything with energy...
