A little Kindle help?

I finally broke down and got the new Kindle. As a writer I've been anti-Kindle because…you know…BOOKS and stuff. But whatever. The day has come. I can't fight this fight (or this feeling) anymore.

So the Kindle arrived today. And now one of my brilliant friends has sent me the first couple chapters of her new book to read and I tried to send it to the Kindle, even saved it as a PDF… and it's not showing up. Who is proficient in Kindle and can help this confused monkey stop pressing buttons...
