SUMMER 2025 [New York, NY] – “I just see too many echoes of the 1930s in what’s been going on in the world, which I personally see as being extremely dangerous both for the country I’ve chosen to live in and the Western world in general,” says vocalist/bassist Vox of Manchester’s celebrated post-punk legends CHAMELEONS about the newly released promo video for the song “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing,” which is released today, May 29, 2025 via Metropolis Records.
Taken from the upcoming album ARCTIC MOON (out September 12, 2025, pre-order: https://chameleonsuk.bandcamp.com/album/arctic-moon), the song was the last to be completed for the album. “I’m particularly pleased with the way it turned out, because it was [guitarist] Stephen Rice that initially brought the rough idea to the table, and we all then collaborated on the idea to produce the final song.”
Capturing Chameleons’ innate flair for crafting exquisite guitar textures and merging them with Vox’s tight grasp of melodicism and lyrics, “Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing” harbors a dark message about the current political climate amongst its thoroughly engaging sound. To further enforce its theme, the song’s accompanying video splices live performance footage with kaleidoscopic images of war, its effects, and the propaganda surrounding it, making for a very compelling statement.
“The melody and lyrics came to me quite quickly,” Vox explains. “They reflect what has been happening globally and how senior officials could be seen lining up to kiss the ring of this clown, who seemed to regard himself more as a self-proclaimed king than an elected official.”

“ARCTIC MOON is finally finished,” says Vox about their new album. “We’re all really pleased with how it has turned out!” This first new full-length comes after a 24-year gap since the release of 2001’s Why Call It Anything. “Everyone involved brought their ‘A’ game to this project and I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s quite different from anything Chameleons has done before, and I know this will probably polarize the legacy audience, but we’re quite excited about how it’s developing,” Vox says about Arctic Moon. “I think the songwriting is much more mature in a lot of ways, which is to be expected, I suppose, given our age, but I, for one, really believe we’re taking the band forward, and I’m quite excited about it.”
Currently preparing for back-to-back U.S. tours, firstly as support for Psychedelic Furs from June 28th to July 15th and then returning for a headlining tour in support of Arctic Moon, Chameleons are poised to keep building on the legacy they began in the early ‘80s with the release of their stunning debut Script of the Bridge. Long cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of Verve, Oasis, White Lies, The Slow Readers Club, Interpol, The Killers and Editors, among countless others and known for their transformative musical catalog and intense and emotionally charged live performances, Chameleons continues four decades in with four albums under their belt: Script of the Bridge (1983), What Does Anything Mean? Basically!' (1984), Strange Times (1986), and Why Call It Anything? (2001).
Their unique sound quickly captivated the public through their mix of melancholic yet energetic and powerful tunes, hypnotic, ethereal riffs, and the potent, timeless lyrical style. Chameleons are considered one of the most influential guitar bands of the '80s and '90s, contributing substantially to the post-punk, shoegaze and indie scenes. They are often regarded as one of the most underrated bands ever to emerge from Manchester, England.
Last year saw the band releasing two critically-hailed EPs – Where Are You? which was comprised of three new songs, and Tomorrow Remember Yesterday which contained five songs from the vault that were re-recorded, and kicked off a new chapter for Chameleons. Arctic Moon sees the band starting a whole new book.
Chameleons are Reg Smithies (guitar), Vox (bass, vocals, lyrics), Stephen Rice (guitar), Danny Ashberry (keyboards), and Todd Demma (drums). Arctic Moon will be released on September 12, 2025 via Metropolis Records and will be available on vinyl, CD and digitally at https://chameleonsuk.bandcamp.com/album/arctic-moon.

Shares Lead Single “Angelus”
Performing in LA Tomorrow at Zebulon

By Ajalena Dewolf Moura
The Berries is a pure return to form, delivering Matthew Berry’s strongest take yet on the hallowed tradition of the guitar-wielding singer-songwriter. The LP masterfully engages the tradition’s iconic sentiments of naked Americana, chemical winds whistling over barley shafts, longing-swollen livers and pleading romance, yet suffuses them with a strikingly rich melancholy that is Berry’s alone.
Berry attempts to reclaim some sense of a life worth living in this aftermath, clawing towards a personal faith that can only be found on the other side of an extended battle with the nihilism and self-destruction of our era. As he puts it, “This record came out of a need to break from my old self, to break from a lifestyle that I could no longer bear waking up to everyday. It’s equally fueled by remorse and relief—I can rejoice a bit in having found a renewed purpose, but I had to finally stare down everything that was standing in the way of that sense of dignity first.”
Structurally, The Berries follows in the footsteps of a long lineage of studio-centered pop songcraft, from the comedown genius of Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac to the reverb forests of The War on Drugs. The tracks progress like a series of vignettes, displaying a rare sense of artistic confidence in their willingness to depart from established song-structure conventions—Berry writes impressionistically, always working in service of the spiritual heart of each song, foregrounding each track’s individual character over its ability to fit the mold of accepted genre convention.
On album standout and lead single “Angelus”, Berry gently strings together a series of touchingly considered vocal melodies over the sparse progression, building up a wall of melancholy which feels strikingly Californian in its ability to sonically replicate the desolation of highway overpasses and the apocalyptic quality of staring across the Pacific on a depressingly bright day.
Listen / Share / Playlist “Angelus”
The Berries have taken many shapes over the years. The band began as a series of bedroom project odes to cosmic Americana and fuzzy guitar heroics, which quickly landed Berry a multi-record deal with Run for Cover Records on the strength of his straightforward songwriting ingenuity. Over the years, Berry has assembled a rotating series of proper live and studio bands, who have accompanied him on previous record-length wanderings through country-inflected balladeering (Berryland), distorted, stadium-sized melodrama (Throne of Ivory), and Californian burn-out pop (High Flying Man). On The Berries, however, Berry has fully realized his talents as a self-made studio auteur. The songs emerged rather quickly over a series of intensive writing sessions in the early months of 2025 and were studiously laid to tape that same summer at the home studio of engineer Jimmy Dixon, who also co-produced the record alongside Berry.
After his previous full-length outing, Berry found himself incapable of committing new Berries songs to paper for a number of years, focusing his efforts instead on a string of other projects, including touring with Hotline TNT, his own band Big Bite, and recording material for two new groups, a fuzzed-out rock band titled RAM and a delicately folky acoustic duo dubbed Drug Addict. Ironically, it was only through running headfirst into these other projects that Berry found himself finally able to return to The Berries with a new sense of purpose—as he recounts it, “The Berries had become too many things in one, it had become too unwieldy for me to figure out. By creating other bands that let me clear out some of the ideas that were nagging me, I was able to come back to a simpler understanding of what I’ve always wanted The Berries to be: guitar focused singer-songwriter music with grandiose arrangements and minimal, deeply personal lyrics.” Berry and Dixon were joined in the studio by a formidable cast of longtime friends, including Narrow Head’s Kora Puckett, studio drummer Bryan De Leon (The Drums, Ethel Cain), Color Green’s Corey Madden, and poet / musician Julia Lans Nowak, each of whom contributed to the record’s baroque yet precisely streamlined backing tracks and harmonies.
These songs offer no illusions of being able to undo the bleak confusion of their moment, nor do they attempt to wildly reinvent any longstanding pillars of guitar music sheerly for the sake of novelty. Rather, like all great songwriters, Berry has simply tried to rediscover a place for himself in this world, somewhere that might live up to all the grand promises implied by words like faith, beauty, and belief. At its best, The Berries can count itself amongst the ranks of those rare records that exist to remind us that we aren’t the only ones searching for something greater to believe in—records that exist to remind us that we aren’t alone in our disillusionment, but rather hopelessly together in our desires for a life more worthy of the title of living.
The Berries, self released, will be in stores and available August 29. Catch him in Los Angeles tomorrow night at Zebulon - tickets and info are here.

Freezing Cold will release their sophomore album Treasure Pool this Friday, August 1 via Don Giovanni Records. The album has earned support from Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, New Noise Magazine, Punknews.org and shared acclaimed singles “Backlight” and “Eclipse” which features wailing guitar from Marissa Paternoster of Screaming Females. Freezing Cold has a penchant for diving into the familiar, relatable moments of being alive. Inspired by '90s alternative and indie sounds, the NYC indie rock three-piece effortlessly layers catchy guitar, airy keys, textured synths and woodwinds with ethereal three-part harmonies and poignant lyrics.
Final album cut “Off Season” sits firmly in the collection’s emotive whirlpool. It is like a vignette that captures the feeling of seeking calm in a place designed for it, a beach town when no one else is around. Lyricist Jeff Cunningham shares, “For me, the beach in the off season can become that reset button. It almost feels like standing at the edge of the earth, where everything slows. For someone who can struggle to be present in the moment, it’s the kind of environment that helps you do that.” Angie Boylan continues, “Jeff’s lyrics paint such a vivid picture that feels very relatable to me. Jeff and I both grew up on Long Island, and we often return to ocean, beach, water themes in this band. This song always reminded me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind — taking ‘the train to the edge of town,’ the beach in winter, Long Island. The general sense of melancholy in the off season.”
Freezing Cold was co-founded in 2017 by seasoned indie-punk musicians Angie Boylan (touring/session drummer in Sleater-Kinney, Aye Nako, Cheeky) on drums and Jeff Cunningham (Bridge & Tunnel, Ordinary Lives) on guitar and vocals, now joined by bassist Leanne Butkovic who brings a new perspective and fresh energy to the band. They tracked the 10 songs over two years and three separate sessions at Lakehouse Recording Studios in Asbury Park, NJ with friends Eric Bennett and Marissa Paternoster (Screaming Females). Initially planned as an EP and derailed by COVID, as so many records were, the band used the space and time to build what would eventually become Treasure Pool. With the addition of bassist Leanne Butkovic, the band created a new microcosm of collective creativity bringing even more intention to the songwriting process and building spectacular new 3-part vocal harmonies.
The concept of Treasure Pool was inspired by a trip Angie had recently taken to the Oregon Coast where tide pools appeared at dusk, revealing so many creatures and habitats that you didn’t know were there just minutes before. She shares, "I read a description that called them 'unique habitats teeming with life, offering a window into the marine world.' There’s some metaphor here about being in a band, surely. You create this world together, are vulnerable and bare your ideas and creative expression to one another. Pool everything together onto an album." The world Freezing Cold has created in Treasure Pool is a collection of masterfully written rock songs about getting older, finding new ways forward, and staying curious.

BRIAN SETZER: "What blows me away every time is how this music still connects — decades later, it’s just as raw, just as real. We see fans from every generation now.”
LEE ROCKER: “There’s nothing like the sound we make when the three of us hit the stage--it’s high-octane rockabilly, loud and proud. We’re fired up to bring that to fans across the country again!”
SLIM JIM PHANTOM: “HOLY MACKEREL! The Cats are back for a very, special indoor tour. I’m thrilled and excited to be on the road in 2025 with the best Rockabilly band in the world! These are the venues where the Cats sound best and one thing I can guarantee 100%…We Will Rock Your Town!!”
These shows follow 2024’s critically acclaimed summer tour. Here's some critical feedback from those shows:
“Setzer has retained his smooth vocals and still stung when he played lead guitar…Stray Cats demonstrated that the core of the band’s appeal is that the three musicians have stuck to one sound and continue to do it well.”
--Charley Crespo, Aquarian Weekly, 8/19/24 (on 8/15 New York City Show)
“From the moment they stepped on stage, guitarist Brian Setzer, drummer Slim Jim Phantom and upright bassist Lee Rocker tore through song after song at a breakneck pace.”
--Sean Reiter, SF Bay Area Concerts, 8/1/24 (on 7/30 Saratoga, CA Show)
“As Stray Cats came out onstage, the whole place started raging! It was seriously cool (not to mention nostalgic) watching everyone in the crowd singing along to songs I’ve been listening to for 40 years!”
--Sean McCracken, Top Shelf Music Mag, 8/9/24 (on 8/1 Costa Mesa, CA Show)
“As the final notes of ‘Rock This Town’ echoed through the amphitheater, the audience erupted into applause, clearly not ready for the night to end. Stray Cats, ever the showmen, returned for an encore, closing with a fiery rendition of ‘Rumble in Brighton,’ leaving the crowd exhilarated and satisfied.”
--Kevin Rolfe, Utah Concert Review, 8/22/24 (on 8/5 Salt Lake City, UT Show)
“They expertly blended their most well-known material like the immortal hits ‘Rock This Town’ and ‘Stray Cut Strut’ with lesser-known tunes… All three band members were in fine form…”
--Matthew Berlyant, Under The Radar Magazine, 9/2/24 (on 8/15 New York City Show)

About the STRAY CATS:
The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include “Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut” "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "I Won't Stand in Your Way."

Wreck and Reference return with fifth LP Stay Calm
Incoming August 22 on The Flenser [pre-order]

How can one stay calm when it is inherently terrifying to be alive in the first place? For Felix Skinner and Ignat Frege, staying calm means facing the void head-on.
Fifteen years ago, two men emerged from an overheated garage in the harrowing wastelands of California with a singular vision for the future of dark, intense music: tortured samples, blasted acoustic drums, and a distinct lack of guitars. They walked straight past the orthodoxies of metal music and into the weird new dawn of electronic experimentalism. Since then, heavy music has evolved – yet Wreck and Reference's vision remains fresh, transgressive, and undeniably existential in its pressure against the current breed.
A lot has happened in the world since Wreck and Reference's last full-length, Absolute Still Life. Between a global pandemic, swirling political environment, and the rise of artificial intelligence, their new album Stay Calm is over five years in the making. It is in constant flux, a record that refuses to be inoculated, assimilated, or inured to the atrocities of daily life. It asks: is it fruitless to stake a claim in the all-too-fleeting ordeal of existence? Whatever the answer, embrace the implications.

Wreck and Reference's fifth full-length is a meditation on the horror of modern life; a wild ride that never loses its focus. Seatbelts off, please.

Healthy InstinctBurningThe CupA CureNill ArmAll That I WantDogtrackingThe FloodBe CarefulSPRINTS Release Two Explosive New Singles “Rage” and “Beg”
Following the release of their debut single, “Descartes,“ which Stereogum calls “… a feverish slasher,” comes the release of two new singles, “Rage” and “Beg” SPRINTS frontperson, Karla Chubb, says of both singles:
“Rage”: “I think in the world today, it’s a lot easier to be angry than it is to help facilitate change. People are fatigued, disillusioned - it’s understandable, but we shouldn’t be pointing the finger at those already marginalised and making them shoulder the blame. The world is full of false prophets and false promises; it’s time we call them out. Don’t let the rage bait fuel the fire and burn us all in the process.
Sonically, I was pretty consumed by Dandy Warhols and Viagra Boys during the writing of this album so I feel like that’s seeped its way into the subconscious of the song. The rumbling, desert, garage influence that almost feels like a tumbleweed of chaos blowing across the track in the guitars.”
“Beg:” “‘Beg’ is a track that represents a lot of the key motifs, themes and topics we explore across the album. Sonically, it’s a sum of all of the parts, new and old, that make up the sound of All That Is Over. Inspired originally by a line in a Vladimir Holan poem, “Beg” is written in part as a joke, a call and response to the question, “Is Karla Jesus?” that was written atop a moodboard when we were brainstorming ideas for a music video.
It’s tongue in cheek, it’s satirical, and it pokes fun at the idea that often it’s those in positions of power that preach their moral codes and judgments, while committing the most heinous crimes themselves. Meanwhile, the communities often under attack are just aiming to exist and to live. It’s an exploration of the self, sexuality, lust, ambition, but also my own shortcomings and the constant battle to be better.”

John Fogerty Celebrates His Legacy With New Recordings Of “Travelin’ Band” And “Long As I Can See The Light”
FORTHCOMING ALBUM LEGACY DUE OUT AUGUST 22

July 25, 2025 — John Fogerty has released two new singles—“Travelin’ Band” and “Long As I Can See The Light”—from his forthcoming album Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years, due August 22 on Concord, and these songs now return with renewed power, joyfully performed by Fogerty and his sons Shane and Tyler.
“Travelin’ Band” captures the high-octane spirit of the road, complete with ripping horns and gritty vocals, while “Long As I Can See The Light” closes the loop with a steady, soul-deep performance that highlights the wisdom and emotional weight Fogerty brings to the track after more than 50 years.
“There’s a long trail behind my lyrics,” Fogerty says. “And I think you can hear that in the way I sing it now. This song means so much to me. If you see a ray of light you can always find your way. I loved recording it with my sons”.
On “Travelin’ Band,” he adds: “That was like climbing a mountain—I had to work myself up to hit that level again. I’d sing until I didn’t have anything left.”
Both songs appear on Legacy, a 20-track collection of newly recorded versions of Fogerty penned CCR-era songs—including “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Bad Moon Rising.” For the first time in his career, Fogerty fully owns the rights to his groundbreaking Creedence Clearwater Revival catalog, and Legacy serves as both a celebration of that milestone and a personal reclamation of his artistic legacy.
“For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,” Fogerty says. “Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that—of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.”
The album was produced by John and Shane Fogerty, with executive production by his wife Julie Fogerty, and features the family band alongside Matt Chamberlain, Bob Malone, Bob Glaub, and Rob Stone. It was mixed by legendary engineer Bob Clearmountain, resulting in rich, contemporary recordings that remain faithful to the originals while pulsing with new energy.
Legacy was first announced from the stage of Fogerty’s sold-out 80th birthday show at NYC’s Beacon Theatre, and arrives during a banner year that has included headline sets at JazzFest, Glastonbury, the Hollywood Bowl and more, plus an induction at the American Music Honors (introduced by Bruce Springsteen) and a collaboration with Eric Church for the new NASCAR on Prime anthem. Reviewing his birthday show at the Beacon, The Associated Press wrote that Fogerty performed “with the joy of a teenager,” and after Glastonbury, Mojo Magazine similarly observed “John Fogerty is having the time of his life,” adding that his set was “the very definition of all killer, no filler.” Following his headlining set at Jazzfest NOLA.com proclaimed simply “Fogerty’s on fire.”
The release of “Travelin’ Band” and “Long As I Can See The Light,” the final pre-release offering, follows earlier Legacy singles including “Born on the Bayou,” “Lodi,” “Up Around the Bend,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” and “Porterville”—all available now on streaming platforms.
“I’m 80 years old,” Fogerty says. “I’m giving myself a gift with this album—and I’m giving my fans a gift at the same time.”

About John Fogerty
As the leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty helped shape the sound of American music, blending blues, country, pop, rockabilly, R&B, and swamp boogie into a genre-defying style that continues to resonate with fans around the world. One of the greatest songwriters of all time, he has received multiple awards and honors for his undeniable impact on the culture including induction in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the BMI Icon Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a special honor for his song “Centerfield” making him the only musician ever honored by the Baseball Hall of Fame.
John Fogerty’s songwriting canon spans nearly six decades and includes foundational classics such as “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.” Both “Fortunate Son” and “Bad Moon Rising” have both surpassed 1 Billion streams, while “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” continues to go viral on TikTok and has garnered over 2 Billion streams. Fogerty has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and CCR’s album Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits recently logged 751 weeks - or 14 years - on the Billboard 200, only the fifth album ever to reach that chart milestone.
His 1997 Blue Moon Swamp won the Grammy for Best Rock Album, and his solo work has been nominated for a total of 8 Grammys over the years. So Fogerty’s status as a legend has long been secure. What’s more remarkable, though, is how popular and influential his music remains after more than 50 years. Recently, Rolling Stone ran a story with the headline “The Biggest Band in America in 2024 is…Creedence Clearwater Revival.”

Behind The Gallery proudly presents its latest exhibition, Alternative Nation: A Retrospective—a raw, unfiltered look at the rise of alternative music and culture from the 1990s through the early 2000s—debuting in Chicago next month. Hosted by After, Michelin-Starred Chef Curtis Duffy’s cocktail bar, the exhibit features never-before-seen and classic images of Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Meat Puppets, and more. This unprecedented show brings together the iconic work of five visionary photographers—Joseph Cultice, Jonathan Rach, Chris Cuffaro, Kevin Westenberg, and Scarlet Page—whose lenses helped define the way we see an era. Together, their work documents the seismic shift when grunge, industrial, and alt-rock exploded from the fringes and forever changed not just the sound, but the image, of music. “This show isn’t just a trip down memory lane—it’s a time capsule of a moment when music felt dangerous, emotional, and deeply human,” says Behind The Gallery founder and curator Stephen Dallimore. “Each photographer was there, trusted by the bands, and that connection comes through in every frame. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s long overdue.” These genres gave voice to a generation navigating emotional extremes, alienation, and identity. Grunge acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam pushed back against glossy mainstream culture with raw, unfiltered vulnerability, while industrial acts like Nine Inch Nails created darker, confrontational spaces—fusing rock and electronics and embracing taboo themes that drew subcultures into the spotlight. These photographs reflect more than performance; they capture the unvarnished authenticity and creative rebellion of artists navigating a time when music was not only heard but felt—deeply, viscerally, and defiantly. “We’re excited to host Behind the Gallery in Chicago,” said Curtis Duffy. “They’ve put together a showcase of incredible photographers I happen to love, and musicians I also happen to love. It’s an amazing combination. I think Chicago’s art and music fans are really going to enjoy everything they bring to After.” Alternative Nation: A Retrospective is the first in a planned series of shows that will expand to other cities featuring additional photographers and evolving narratives. “The curation of the images is designed to showcase a mix of live performances, iconic editorial shots, and candid moments—many of which have never been seen before. These are not just portraits; they are windows into an era—rich with emotion, identity, and cultural shift,” Dallimore adds. “Many of these artists are now considered legacy acts, but this exhibition isn’t just for longtime fans—it’s also for a new generation that craves authenticity. In a digital age where connection can feel shallow, there’s something powerful about experiencing these raw, analog images. It was a time when music felt fresh, exciting, and dangerous—an era that still carried a sense of mystery, even at its most exposed.” Opening night will include special appearances by Jonathan Rach and Joseph Cultice, both who return on Saturday for an artist talk and Q&A with host Curtis Duffy at 5 PM. Photographer show Inclusions by Artist:
• Chris Cuffaro: Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden
• Joseph Cultice: Aphex Twin, Björk, Danzig, Marilyn Manson, Meat Puppets, Smashing Pumpkins
• Jonathan Rach: Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Melvins
• Kevin Westenberg: Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, White Stripes
• Scarlet Page: Björk, Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson, NIN, Placebo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins

Behind The Gallery specializes in fine art music photography with a modern edge. Known for innovative pop-up experiences that blend storytelling, sound, and visual history, their exhibitions include Jonathan Rach’s Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral, Cody Smyth’s The Strokes, Charles Moriarty’s Amy Winehouse, and more. GO KUROSAWA announces debut solo album 'soft shakes' & shares track "Autowalk". Vinyl out this Friday on Guruguru Brain, digital to follow on Sept 5th

Today, Go Kurosawa announces his debut solo album, soft shakes , available on vinyl this Friday via Guruguru Brain, with the digital release to follow on September 5th.
Multi-instrumentalist, producer, co-founder of the independent label Guruguru Brain and drummer/vocalist of Kikagaku Moyo, Go Kurosawa has spent the past decade building bridges between East and West, sound and silence, rock and ritual.
soft shakes is something different. A personal chapter in Go’s journey, it marks his first solo album, created entirely by himself and made, for the first time, purely for himself. What comes through is music that feels playful, layered, rhythmic and delightfully unexpected. Just like Go.
Today he shares with the internet a first and only glimpse of the album ahead of the album’s digital release. “Autowalk” is a mellow, understated summer jam, channelling the signature feel-good moods Go has curated throughout his work thus far. He comments: "I am a big fan of moving walkways in airports. Every time I see them, I get excited to choose if I should stand on it or walk on it and go a bit faster than usual. But you are not supposed to go as fast as possible, unlike the autobahn."

After Kikagaku Moyo disbanded, Go spent some time producing records for other artists, but with soft shakes, there was no plan. Just the instinct to pick up an instrument, play, and see what might unfold.
As he puts it, “The whole framework is new. When I made music for the band, I always knew who would play what. This time, it was just me. No plan, no expectation. And weirdly, that became the concept: doing it all myself, for the first time.”
Go has a rare kind of musical instinct. He can play anything, hears everything, and yet never takes himself too seriously. For a long time, making music alone wasn’t part of the plan. Music had always been about connection. But over time, as he travelled, collected instruments and set up Guruguru Brain studio in Rotterdam, the sound of a solo voice emerged.
soft shakes came together between January and June in Rotterdam, through dark, rainy, quiet days. Each day, Go would head to the studio, pick up whatever instrument was around and simply play. The process was slow and instinctive. “If something still moved me the next day, I’d add to it. If not, I’d start something new. One step at a time, without pressure.”
Even as a solo record, the music doesn’t feel tight or controlled. It has the looseness of jamming, the joy of following where the sound wants to go. “I wanted that feeling, even if I was jamming with myself.”
The album artwork was created by his partner Ao, her first time doing artwork for a record. “It captures the freedom and boldness of trying something new and I love it,” he says.
soft shakes arrives at a moment of transition. Go recently relocated to Fukuoka, Japan, after years of living and working in Europe. “While making this album, we were deciding where to move. I knew it would be my last creation while living in Europe. When I listen back, I can hear that longing for something, towards a far away home.”
The record feels like the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another. “Now I’m excited to build a studio in Japan and start again. I don’t know what will come next, but I want it to be shaped and influenced by new surroundings.”
And while this record might be personal, Go hopes it offers something to others too. “I wish people would travel somewhere else through music. You float around, lose track of time, and when the record ends, you feel the soft comfort of coming home again.”
soft shakes will be available on vinyl this Friday, August 1st, with digital available on September 5th. Pre-order here.

Friday, July 25th, London - Tonight Oasis made an epic return to London with the first of seven Wembley Stadium shows. Playing to a sold out 81,000 capacity crowd, the rapturously received show marked the band’s first performance in the capital city since July 2009. They will play to more than 630,000 people at Wembley Stadium over the course of seven shows as part of their Oasis Live ‘25 tour.
At 8:15pm, the Gallagher Brothers entered the stage arms aloft, hand-in-hand. Noel bowed to Liam, before Liam bowed to the Wembley crowd, receiving a euphoric reaction.
Leading the Poznan into “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” Liam teased the London crowd with, “Don’t be booing Arsenal Fans. Just because you’re not top of the league. It isn’t our f***ing problem.”
Introducing “Half The World Away,” Noel said: “This next one’s for the Royal Family. The real Royle Family.”
During “Live Forever” Oasis reflected a huge portrait of Ozzy Osborne onto the screens surrounding the stage before Liam announced: “We are dedicating this one to Ozzy Osbourne, Rock ‘N’ Roll Star.”
Returning to the stage to kick off an epic four song encore, Noel announced: “This next song is for all the Manchester City supporters in the house. It’s called The Masterplan.”
Introducing the final song of the show, Liam said: “You’ve been amazing, man. Mad as f***. This one’s called Champagne Supernova. Thank you very much.”
