Our Solar System new album

Our Solar System
(feat. members of Dungen, The Amazing, Me and My Kites and more)
Announces New Album "Vårt Solsystem" Out October 29th on Beyond Beyond is Beyond

Stream new song "Mars" from Our Solar System here!

"Call it kosmische, call it a collective, call it sonic space exploration, unrestrained by gravity, led by Dungens Mattias Gustavsson with the assistance of some very talented friends call it whatever you want, but you can be sure the sounds of Our Solar System will call out back to you, in an endless, radical, reverberating transmission. - Ryan Muldoon, Revolt of the Apes

The idea was born in a lunch room during the recording of Lisa o Pius debut album in summer 2009 when Hr M, who had been called as a producer, dreamed away in a poster of the solar system. "Our Solar System! Imagine what a great band that would be!" The idea slowly grew among the friends. The concept was obvious, but how would it be expressed? Then one day in the spring of 2012 Hr M was to play at a festival with his band but decided that now was the time! The idea was ripe! He asked if any others wanted to join him and perform Our Solar System, and quickly there were ten musicians ready.

Each musician would represent a planet, including the asteroid belt and Pluto, and together would illustrate a journey from the Sun past each of the planets along our path through the solar system out into space. Each planet was described in a few keywords, a fusion of our mutual associations based on emotion and poetry rather than science. A glass bead game for the mad! These keywords became the score they've been working on since. Our solar System aims to reflect the innermost human in the planets whirling dance with the Sun through the universe. Interplay and chaos, joy and insecurity, rhythm and ambiance and so on.

Our Solar System designs costumes adorned with the planetary symbols to highlight the concept's power over the individual. While in agreement that each session is a ritual in which they strive, through the mirroring of Our Solar System, to manifest the utopian desire, the perfect interplay and ego dissolution, but by the end re-emerge as more genuine individuals rooted in solidarity with both chaos and cosmos . A synergistic way to catharsis!

Our Solar System Live is an evolving collective, as long as they are ten planets they play. The involved to date also plays in bands such as Dungen, Life on Earth!, The Amazing, Promise And The Monster, Lisa o Piu, Me and My Kites, Siri Karlsson, AnnaMy, Vox Vulgaris and others.

This album was recorded live one hot summer afternoon in the amphitheater at Raven mountain in Vårberg, and one cold November night at a magical party in an old movie theater in Kärrtorp. For those who want to compare this work with other musical journeys, one can draw parallels to Alice Coltrane, Pärsson Sound, Sigur Rós, Can and early Pink Floyd.

Our Solar System is a community without a leader, a floating crowd of people, where everyone who wants to be part of creating within these cosmic frames are welcome. The dream is to one day see representatives of Our Solar System around the world, illustrating the concept in all the arts in all kinds of contexts for all kinds of audiences. Only your imagination sets the limits!

CAVE ANNOUNCES US TOUR IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM

CAVE ANNOUNCES US TOUR IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM, THREACE , OUT OCTOBER 15TH ON DRAG CITY    WATCH THREACE TEASER VIDEO

Hippies, flower people: now is the time! Turn off, tune in, get your asses primed for this aid to self-knowledge, and free your body to access the unconscious mind! Reject societal law, and free your mind to access that subconscious body-vessel! CAVE takes their rolling funk minimalism to the streets this fall in support of their new album, Threace (out October 15th on Drag City). Hitting locales big and small across the Midwest, West Coast and South, including stops at Cataracts Music Festival in Indianapolis, Cropped Out Festival in Louisville, Seattle Psych Fest and Athens Intensified Fest, CAVE go out of their way to provide the keys to closed doors of the mind - that higher, meditative place in the expansive universe.
Recorded on a 1" 8-track Scully machine that may or may not have spent some quality burn-in time at Muscle Shoals, Threace was half-planned and half-jammed using different mic placements, building up from a basic set of as few mics as possible. Threace not only rocks, but fuses in funktified jazzgams amid jelly tight guitar rave-ups, saving the keyboards for color commentary among the beats. While Jeremy Freeze (guitar) and Cooper Crain (guitar, organ) explore their six-string relationship, twinning to gut-clutching effect, Dan Browning (bass) and Rex McMurry (drums) bring the heavy with poly-coloristic thickness, bearing the lode and raising the arch under which everything happens in CAVE. Don't believe researchers' warnings when they say Threace is dangerous - at least, not without trying it for yourself, first! Give Threace a chance!

Watch The Video for The Title Track Here Courtesy of Diffuser.
Their new EP "Whoa" is a mix of pop punk, synthed-out arpeggiated rhythms, and a bunch of Rad-itude. BWCW's home turf is the legendary alley-way all-ages venue The Smell, located in downtown Los Angeles. Home to bands like No Age, HEALTH, Best Coast, Bleached, and The Mae Shi (Jeff from The Mae Shi now plays guitar in BWCW), Batwings Catwings were also formed from that same smelly alley. Despite the filth, BWCW comes out gleaming with shiny rock songs that are undeniably catchy. Their live shows (recently sharing tour dates with METZ, CSS, and Tilly & the Wall) are fronted by Dana Poblete, "an everygirl with the ability to entrance audiences with her frenetic energy and deceptively powerful howl" (-AltarTV), The other four dude-bros are all seasoned LA music scene staples whom carry on that ecstatic energy that you can come to expect from Batwings Catwings.

BRMC fall tour

FROM PARIS TO POMONA

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB ANNOUNCES FALL HEADLINE TOUR

August 7, 2013 – BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB today announce a fall headline tour of the US that begins Friday, September 27 in St. Louis, Missouri at The Pageant and currently wraps up in Pomona, California at the Glass House on Thursday, October 17. More dates will be announced shortly.

BRMC - Robert Levon Been, Peter Hayes, and Leah Shapiro – are touring in support of their sixth full-length album, SPECTER AT THE FEAST (March 2013, Vagrant). NME stated that the album “…is far lusher and braver than anyone had any right to expect…this is a band who’ve found a second wind,” while PASTE added "(Specter At The Feast) sits easily with their early best, a worthy addition in the tradition of turning heartbreaking circumstances into cathartic art."
ROLLING STONE summed up with “smooth, melodic tracks like "Lullaby" to the powerful driving beat and wailing guitar of "Rival" and the head-banging metal on "Teenage Disease," the record charts the varied sounds the band have adopted during their 15-year career. Specter at the Feast is made even more impactful by the story of its creation."

Portugal. The Man photographed by Hayley Young "I have wanted to work with AG since our friend, Michael Ragen, introduced me to his work with Earl Sweatshirt a few years ago. He has an eye for the things that happen below surface, in bedrooms, in the streets and in our schools and captures it without prejudice. AG has a vision and it doesn't matter if you think the video could use more of John running because, in the end, he knows what he wants and always makes the right decision. A true artist."
