Prides To Release The Seeds You Sow 7" & Digital Single

Prides To Release The Seeds You Sow 7" & Digital Single On March 18"The Seeds You Sow" Track Streaming At Line Of Best Fit Spring Tour Dates Including SXSW Announced     "Prides have an out-of-the-box arena-ready quality to them."  - Neon Gold Records
"The Glasweigans have kicked it up a gear under the Prides banner and look set to take a seat next to their fellow Scots at the great pop feast."  - The Line Of Best Fit
Listen: "The Seeds You Sow" via Line Of Best Fit or Soundcloud
Innovative and infectious synthpop trio, Prides, will release The Seeds You Sow 7" and digital single on March 18 in the U.S. The Line Of Best Fit has premiered the title track, which is also available to stream via SoundCloud. Prides just announced a spring tour which will include performances at the SXSW Music Festival as well as major U.S. cities including New York, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, D.C. All shows are listed below.  The Glasgow based band of three, Prides, formed in 2013 out of the ashes of several local bands. They premiered on the internet last summer with their track "Out of the Blue" which lived on the top five of the Hype Machine. The bands unique sound attracted the attention of Island Records in the UK and Virgin Records in the USwho signed them to the labels. Stewart Brock sings and plays keyboards, Callum Wiseman is lead guitarist, plays keys and sings and Lewis Gardiner plays drums and is the bands producer.    The Seeds You Sow is an anthemic feel-good track with tumbling drums and repetitive chant-like vocals.
Stewart says, "The Seeds You Sow is about realizing that the things that happen around you are a result of your own actions. It's about realizing that the one you're with isn't the one, and the consequences that go with it. We wanted to make sure that it was loud, brave, and would grab people as soon as they heard it. The vocal hook is all about letting go, losing yourself, shouting as loud as you can, caution to the wind."
An addictive, dazzling track, electrifying live shows and a band with a voice, Prides are clearly a force to be reckoned with.

I'm Not the Beatles: The John & Yoko Interviews

I'm Not the Beatles: The John & Yoko Interviews with Howard Smith, 1969-1972  Available as 8 CD Set on April 14th
This eight CD box set features John Lennon & Yoko Ono's five iconic conversations with Village Voicejournalist and radio personality Howard Smith. These in-depth discussions about music, love, creativity, peace and politics illuminate the couple's transformation from Beatles into revolutionaries.
These interviews have been mastered from Smith's original audio recordings, which had been buried in the back of his West Village loft for 40 years. Never before released on CD.
May 28 - 29, 1969 - Live phone interview, the Bed-In Montreal (35 min)Smith speaks on the phone with John & Yoko, who are in their suite at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. Among other things, they discuss selling Peace as a commodity, the Activist Movement, and Lennonʼs denial of being, nor intention of being, a leader.
Dec. 17, 1969 - Ronnie Hawkinʼs Ranch, Ontario Canada (89 min)
Smith traveled to Ronnie Hawkinʼs Ranch outside of Toronto to interview John & Yoko. While eating shrimp tempura, they discuss the ins and outs of recording with the Beatles, the bandʼs uncertain future, Woodstock vs. Altamont, and the impact of the Youth Movement.
Dec. 12, 1970 - Regency Hotel, NYC (86 min)
Smith interviews John & Yoko the day after the Plastic Ono Band albums are released, and they are in the midst of shooting 2 art films. They discuss the emotional process of their music including specific songs from the albums, their time in Janov therapy, how they handle fame, and whether the Beatles will ever get back together.
Sept. 9, 1971 - St. Regis Hotel, NYC (71 min)
Smith interviews John & Yoko on the day Lennonʼs album Imagine is released. They discuss the album, Onoʼs upcoming artist retrospective, Paulʼs, Georgeʼs and Ringoʼs own individual albums, the mediaʼs criticisms of their relationship, Johnʼs "working class" nature, and future plans.
Jan. 23, 1972 - The Lennonsʼ Bank St. apartment, NYC (86 min)
Smith drops by John & Yokoʼs West Village apartment on the day of a WPLJ Beatles marathon which can be heard at times playing in the background, often inspiring and directing the conversation. They discuss the experience of being a Beatle (and a Beatle wife) and the break up, stage fright and the emotional rollercoaster of performing, breakthroughs acquired in Janov therapy, love, and Revolution.
About Howard Smith:
Howard Smith is an Oscar winning film director, journalist and broadcaster. As a writer for more than 30 years, his articles have appeared in, among others, Playboy and The New York Times. Smithʼs weekly column "Scenes" in the Village Voice helped cement the paperʼs position within the emerging counterculture.

THE WHIGS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM, MUSIC & TOUR

THE WHIGS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM
MODERN CREATION  OUT APRIL 22nd ON NEW WEST RECORDS
SPIN MAGAZINE  PREMIERES SINGLE "HIT ME"
HEADLINING TOUR CONFIRMED

Beloved Athens, GA trio The Whigs are thrilled to announce the release of their new albumModern Creation. Set for an April 22nd release on New West, this new collection - completed in two weeks from start to finish - was produced by Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco), and recorded at PLYRZ Studios in Valencia, CA.
Spin Magazine is now streaming new single "Hit Me." Check it out here:http://www.spin.com/articles/whigs-hit-me-modern-creation/
Modern Creation was about capturing a moment for The Whigs. Unlike previous albums, the band went into the studio and recorded all ten tracks live with limited takes and relied on band performances, instead of studio tricks piecing together individual performances. The trio known for their rollicking sweat-soaked live show specifically went into the recording process - record, mix and finish one song a day - to capture this energy and go for lighting in a bottle records.
"Recording live became a goal for us early on when writing the record, before we even started composing the songs" says guitarist / vocalist Parker Gispert. "We didn't want the record to sound over thought and the only ways we knew how to really produce that sound would be to not get tedious about it and to not give ourselves time to over think it."
Over the course of four acclaimed albums, The Whigs have shown themselves to be one of America's preeminent rock bands. They've toured the world with the Kings Of Leon, The Black Keys and the Hold Steady, and captivated television audiences with stage stealing performances on every late night television show.
With songs such as the pounding "You Should Be Able To Feel It," the bright title track, and heart on sleeve closer "The Difference Between One and Two," Modern Creation - like all of the great rock records that influenced The Whigs - is the sound of a spirited rock band captured in all of their glory churning out raucous rock and roll records.
Earlier this month, The Whigs played these exciting new songs to sold-out crowds along the east coast, and will head on a North American headlining tour on February 1st that will continue throughout the year! Tour dates below.
Stay tuned for more news!

Stream 'Sleepwalking' by DAVIDGE (Massive Attack & Halo 4 OST)

DAVIDGE, FAMED PRODUCER OF MASSIVE ATTACK AND COMPOSER OF HALO 4, ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE TRACK PREMIEREStream sleepwalking DEBUT SOLO ALBUM 'SLO LIGHT' OUT MARCH 24TH VIA 7HZ PRODUCTIONS [image error] Award winning producer and musician Neil Davidge has released a track from his upcoming solo album 'Slo Light', out on March 24th via 7Hz Productions. An album deeply schooled in Bristol beats, electronica, soundtracks, orchestral music and more, ‘Slo Light’ creates a fantasy world in which tension, darkness and beauty find the perfect equilibrium. The album is sky-high on production value, with an unparalleled clarity and sonic depth typical of Davidge’s unique sound.
As one of Massive Attack's sonic architects (behind such hits as 'Teardrop' and 'The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game’) Davidge has also worked on film and video soundtracks including the score to the widely popular Halo 4 game series, which became the highest charting video game soundtrack ever.Following years of industry respect and renown, ‘Slo Light’ is primed to be the record that brings Davidge to the ears and minds of many discerning music lovers, as a figure of talent and vision, who’ll appeal to fans of sound-exploring producer/artists like Brian Eno, Trent Reznor, Moby and William Orbit

Cate le Bon waving surreal poetry through the electro pulse of Gallant Foxes and Sandie Shaw adding emotional luster to Riot Pictures’ string harmonies. What really fascinates, is the way Davidge pulls the musical strings throughout.” – Q Magazine

"The beats and grooves are as expected gorgeous and chilled, and his soundscapes are accented by an array of vocal collaborators. It’s an album that demands your full attention." - Big Shot Mag

"What Davidge has made is a lovingly detailed melodic album, its mood is more night than day and it exists within its own orbit and will defiantly demand your full attention.” – Polari Magazine

Nick Zinner, Dan Deacon, Bradford Cox, and David X. Cohen Join Laurie Anderson and Giorgio Moroder as Moogfest Daytime Presenters.Moogfest announces iconic electro-pop duo Pet Shop Boys, British rapper and self-declared “anti-popstar” M.I.A., experimental multi-genre music producer Flying Lotus, plus Mad Decent's Dillon Francis as additional headliners in the already landmark lineup of musical acts led by three Kraftwerk 3D concerts and CHIC featuring music super producer Nile Rodgers.

Daytime programming expands to include musical pioneers Dan DeaconNick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox, plus Futurama creator and writer for The Simpsons David X.  Cohen, as well as Google's creative masterminds who are designing the future of audio."Moogfest has added some eclectic firepower to its already impressive lineup."
Rolling StoneGeneral Admission Ticket Pricing at $299*Limited Quantities of Daytime Tickets at $249*Limited Quantities of Nighttime Tickets at $199* Moogfest is April 23-27 in Asheville, North Carolina.ASHEVILLE, NC – January 29, 2014 – With over 20 years of history under their belt, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe’s Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 50 million records worldwide and are six-timeGrammy nominees, recognized as the most successful duo in UK music history by The Guinness Book of Records. Collaborating with theatre directors, architects, set and costume designers, Pet Shop Boys have built their performances into a technologically immersive and visually theatrical experience. With their celebrated history of striking and original tour productions, this year’s Moogfest performance promises to be nothing short of spectacular.

M.I.A. is renowned for her presentation of layered textures of instruments, electronics and unusual sound samples that shaped her acclaimed and distinctive avant-garde music style. From the beginning her music was always an explosion of color, light, and heat as she fearlessly incorporates a range of political, social, philosophical and cultural references into her music, combining her Sri Lankan roots with her urban present to create music that defies existing pop music conventions.

Flying Lotus is an expert at weaving together different worlds and styles to create music that defies genre classification. On his latest record,  Until The Quiet Comes , Flying Lotus draws from hip hop, electronic music, and rock, to position himself in the center of a musical web that stretches far from the vibrant sprawl of his base in Los Angeles.

A pioneer in the moombahton genre, Dillon Francis lives between 105 and 112 BPM. An open format DJ, he sees no delineation between making music and playing it. Francis boasts releases on Diplo's Mad Decent, Fool's Gold, and Skrillex's OWSLA, some of the most respected labels in electronic music.

The newly added nighttime programming speaks to Moogfest’s focus on innovation and breaking down barriers. German heavyweight trio Moderat, comprised of Modeselektor and Apparat, bring a passionate and enthusiastic approach to electronic music, while Ghostly’s Audion is the outlet for pop-music innovator Matthew Dear to exorcise his dance floor demons. Machinedrum will be performing his celebrated album  Vapor City , where each of the songs leads you down a dark and twisting trail through different districts in a city of his own imagination. DFA’s UK-based Factory Floor will deliver one of their signature pummeling and exhilarating performances, and Black Dice, alumni of DFA themselves, bring their own brand of concise and concentrated catharsis to the mix.

Other Moogfest 2014 talent announced includes Tiga, the Sex Whiz of Sonic Parkour, RVNG Intl’s Holly HerndonEjecta, the Driftless Recordings project of Joel Ford and Neon Indian's Leanne Macomber, No. 19’s Louie Fresco, and Eric Volta of Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird Records.

The Windish Agency  also joins the company of the nightly music showcase curators that includes experimental Record Labels Warp RecordsDFAFool's GoldGhostly InternationalNo. 19 Music’s Social ExperimentRVNG Intl., and Driftless Recordings. Plus Electronic Tastemakers Crew Love, Brooklyn-based Cultural Organization AFROPUNKDetroit’s Movement Festival, North Carolina'sHopscotch Festival, and Austin’s Switched On.

Joining Laurie Anderson and Giorgio Moroder as artists that bridge both the nightly music and daytime dialogue about music, technology and the future include Claire Evans, performing with YACHT as well as stepping out from behind her instruments to represent the rebooted science magazine OMNI; Baltimore boundary pushing composer Dan Deacon; and LCD Soundsystem’s Gavin Russomperforming with his band The Crystal Ark.

Innovative musicians added to Moogfest’s diverse conference program include Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist and master pedal manipulator Nick Zinner, and Bradford Cox, leader of avant garage band Deerhunter. Zinner, Cox, Russom and Deacon will create immersive, improvisatory sound installations exclusively on Moog hardware and software and lasting up to four hours each, with visuals provided by ex-Black Dice/Lightning Bolt member Hisham Bharoocha.

Among the cultural and technological luminaries added to Moogfest’s daytime program is David X. Cohen, creator and Executive Producer of Futurama and writer for The Simpsons who boasts a B.A. in physics from Harvard and an M.S. in computer science from Berkeley. Fellow writers from Futurama and The Simpsons join Cohen to explore and elaborate upon countless math and science secrets that mysteriously appear throughout these shows.

Also hosting a discussion will be six of Google's most creative minds, including visual artist and Creative Director of Google Data Arts Team Aaron Koblin, known for his work with Arcade Fire and The Johnny Cash Project. Additional highlights include Willo Perron, stage designer for Kayne West, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Drake, Lady Gaga and more; Drew Blanke aka Dr. Blankenstein, mad scientist of analog synthesizers and atari punks; Jay Silver, founder of Makey Makey, hacker and inventor Tom ZimmermanKill Screen videogames founder Jamin Warren; human cyborg Neil Harbisson who hears colors through their frequencies; astrophysicist William Kurth who records the sounds of space, and many more.

Boston-based singer Marissa Nadler is streaming her new full-length album, July, this week, exclusively at NPR First Listen. The album, set for release February 4th on Sacred Bones (US) and February 10th on Bella Union (ROW), will be celebrated with a special performance in Brooklyn onSaturday, February 8th at Glasslands. After being one of the first artists to perform at Rough Trade's new Brooklyn space this past November, Nadler is embarking on a national tour behind July.Dates below.
Recorded at Seattle's Avast Studio, the album pairs Nadler for the first time with producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room). Dunn matches Nadler's darkness by creating a multi-colored sonic palette that infuses new dimensions into her songs. Eyvind Kang's strings, Steve Moore's synths, and Phil Wandscher's guitar lines escalate the whole affair to a panoramic level of beautiful, eerie wonder.

July follows Nadler's critically acclaimed 2011 self-titled LP, which she released independently through a successful Kickstarter campaign, selling her own handmade albums (as well as a highly-circulated 'Covers' series) through Etsy. Following several albums on Kemado, her DIY venture earned her SPIN 'Best New Artist,' Vogue 'Artist To Watch,' KEXP, NPR 'World Cafe: Next,'and NPR 'First Listen' accolades, while Pitchfork gave it an "Albums of the Year: Honorable Mention."

Recently collaborating with Angel Olsen and Xasthur, among others, July is the kind of release that reminds you why NPR counts Nadler's songwriting as so "revered among an assortment of tastemakers." This is a singular achievement for the artist, a record she couldn't have made earlier in her career because, as every songwriter knows, she didn't just write these songs: She lived them.

CD1 is a compilation of Irmin Schmidt’s extensive work as a solo artist over the past 30 years, whilst CD2 - selected and presented by the filmmaker Wim Wenders - is an insight into Schmidt's vast work as a composer for film and television for which Wenders has written extensive sleeve notes.
The two CD compilation includes tracks such as  Villa Wunderbar Kick On The Floods and  Bohemian Step , alongside unreleased remixes by Schmidt of two Can tracks,  Alice  and  Last Night Sleep  and an unreleased extract from La Fermosa, a ballet by Youri Vàmos, entitled  Bêtes De Passage .

After an extensive classical education as pianist, conductor and composer, Irmin Schmidt – who studied under Stockhausen and Ligeti - established Can in the late 60’s combining classic new music with rock and jazz.
The band’s powerful influence has never diminished, and their indelible mark is apparent in the bands that freely cite their influence from the visionary Portishead to the beloved James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem to New Order, Factory Floor, Mogwai, Kanye West (who sampled “Sing Swan Song”) and Radiohead – to name a few. Can’s music has not only changed the landscape of modern music as we know but has crossed over into other art mediums such as literature and graphic arts as well.
After Can disbanded in the late 70s, Irmin Schmidt returned to his work as a solo artist and the result is a vast oeuvre, which includes a series of solo albums (Toy Planet (1981), Musk At Dusk (1987), Impossible Holidays (1991)), an opera (Gormenghast (2000) based on the Mervyn Peak trilogy), several releases with English composer Kumo (Masters Of Confusion (2001), Axolotl Eyes (2008), Flies, Guys & Choirs (2008) and Cyclopean EP (2013)), a ballet (La Fermosa by Youri Vàmos) and over 100 film scores (Snowland, 2005 dir Hans W. Geissendörfer,  Palermo Shooting, 2008, dir Wim Wenders), amongst others)
Schmidt's sound-trips combine what normally competes and conflicts: rock, pop, jazz, classic, electronic, ambient, drum 'n’ bass, waltz, eastern ... He is a musical alchemist.
Following on from the phenomenal success of Can box set  The Lost Tapes , curated by Irmin Schmidt, Jono Podmore and Mute’s Daniel Miller, and last year’s  Cyclopean EP  (Schmidt, Kumo, Burnt Friedman and Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit) in December 2013 the Can back catalogue was remastered on vinyl for the very first time. All 14 albums, including Out Of Reach and an exclusive live bonus album, were released on 180g vinyl in a box set alongside original posters and artwork and immediately sold out.
