Hardcore DEVO Tour Live release available via PledgeMusic

DEVO Partners With PledgeMusic For Release Of "Hardcore DEVO Tour Live"
DEVO has partnered with direct-to-fan platformPledgeMusic for their upcoming live album release. The American rock band, who broke onto the scene in the 1980's with a string of hits such as "Whip It," will be making a live album and DVD from their June 28th performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA during their recent "Hardcore DEVO Tour." DEVO will be involving fans in the process through their PledgeMusic campaign.
During the tour, the band played seminal, experimental songs created before the band released any music on a label and rose to fame. The tour honors original band member and longtime DEVO guitarist/keyboardist Bob Casale who passed away earlier this year - a portion of the tour's proceeds will go to his family. The "Hardcore DEVO Tour" resurrected the early creative efforts that first brought the band together.  DEVO Hardcore LIVE  will document this once-in-a-lifetime experience and be released as a CD, DVD, vinyl and Blu-ray deluxe disc with bonus features.
Pre-orders of the CD/DVD will allow fans to engage with the band during the album making process, providing exclusive access to behind-the-scenes photos, videos, tour artifacts and more (update as confirmed). Pledge your support at http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/DEVO
"We can't believe that we are working with DEVO on this amazing campaign!" said Benji Rogers, President and founder of PledgeMusic. "This project is truly about the music and the hardcore fans. By going beyond just the radio favorites this makes the whole thing an incredible journey for those super fans who have been following the group since their early days."
Gerald V. Casale of DEVO said, "I'm not noted for being optimistic but the Hardcore DEVO Live horn 'o' plenty (DVD, Blu-Ray, CD, Vinyl LP) has me genuinely high hopin' as we mix and edit a truly DEVOlved show. One for the ages!"
PledgeMusic is the world's leading online, direct-to-fan music community, offering artists a unique way to engage their fans in the music making experience whilst interacting with PledgeMusic's global community of music fans.

LISTEN TO ‘SERPENTINE’ FROM OUT OF REACH
AVAILABLE DIGITALLY FOR THE FIRST TIME

MONSTER MOVIETAGO MAGOSOUNDTRACKS, EGE BAMYASI

TO BE AVAILABLE SEPT 2nd, 2014“…they were perfect...they were eternal, and we can share it” – Alan Warner

"Can are the most revolutionary band ever…” - New Order’s Stephen MorrisSeminal experimental rock group Can will re-issue fourteen catalog albums on vinyl, which have been unavailable on the format for over a decade. The first four to be released -  Monster Movie, Tago Mago Soundtracksand Ege Bamyasi – are regarded as some of the most groundbreaking works in rock history and are due out September 2nd, 2014, on Mute.

Can will also release  The Lost Tapes  as five individual vinyl albums, previously released only as a box set.

Can, founded in 1968 by Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit, formed a group that utilized and transformed all boundaries of ethnic, electronic experimental and modern classical music.  Regarded as one of the most influential avant-garde rock groups in history, Can were at the forefront of the German krautrock movement of the late 1960’s and early 70’s along with such bands as Neu! and Kraftwerk. Combing elements of psychedelia with classic pop and progressive compositional methods, Can’s music directly inspired major artists of the period such as David Bowie and Iggy Pop, before going on to shape everything from indie rock to electronica.

Can’s powerful influence has never diminished, and their mark is apparent in the bands who freely acknowledge their significance - from Portishead, James Murphy, New Order, Factory Floor, Public Image Ltd, Mogwai, Kanye West and Radiohead.

Earlier this year, Faber & Faber announced they will release a Can biography / symposium, curated by Irmin Schmidt. The biography will be written by Rob Young, and the symposium section will use Can as a starting point for a collection of stories, statements and interviews. For more information, click here.

The 33 1/3 series of books have just announced that Alan Warner, a long time fan of the band and the author of the sleeve notes for the acclaimed Can Vinyl Box release, will release a book about Tago Mago in November. For more information, click here.

Upcoming release schedule for the entire vinyl reissue series:

October 7th : Future Days, Soon Over Babaluma, Landed, Flow Motion, Saw Delight ( inc CD)

October 21st  Can, Delay, Out Of Reach  (inc first time on CD), Rite Time, Unlimited Edition

November 4th: The Lost Tapes, volumes 1-5

More details on the September 2nd re-issues below. Monster Movie

EMPIRES Announce LP + New Music

EMPIRES TO RELEASE MAJOR LABEL DEBUTORPHAN ON SEPTEMBER 23rd
BAND RELEASES NEW TRACK PLEASE DON'T TELL MY LOVER
BAND CURRENTLY ON TOUR WITH THE CHAIN GANG OF 1974  Empires are thrilled to announce their major label debut Orphan, out September 23rd on Chop Shop / Island Records. Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Black Angels, Explosions in the Sky), Orphan is a collection of songs immersed in classic post punk and indie rock 'n' roll circa 1989-1991, exploring the sonic adventurers and emotional heft of artists such as Roxy Music, Wire, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
To get fans excited, the band has released first single "Please Don't Tell My Lover." Check it out here: https://soundcloud.com/weareempires/please-dont-tell
Earlier this summer the Chicago rock band released the EP How Good Does It Feel which featured several new tracks from Orphan, and was met with an incredible reaction from music critics. The band's non-stop touring and stimulating live show, which included talked about performances at Bonnaroo and the Hangout Music Festival, also saw the group win over a wide range of concertgoers.
Along with NPR, GQ, Interview Magazine, Stereogum and Paste, Rolling Stone raves "Sharp, creative and bringing a commendable freshness to the sometimes drearily derivative world of contemporary rock, Empires are a remarkably good rock 'n' roll band. In a world full of faceless, regurgitated rhythms and emotion-by-numbers, the band's music is strikingly compact, precise and non-excessive ... Empires are a young, powerful band who leave a distinctly positive impression wherever they play. Their music is some of this year's very best."
Empires recently made their late night television on the Late Show with David Letterman. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7789U7roU0
The bands is currently on the road with The Chain Gang of 1974, are looking forward to playing this year's Austin City Limits and plan to spend all of 2014/15 on the road.
Orphan will be available for pre-order beginning August 19th.
Stay tuned for more news!

Bass Drum of Death announces new LP + shares first single

BASS DRUM OF DEATH ANNOUNCES ALBUM
RIP THIS DUE OCTOBER 7TH VIA INNOVATIVE LEISURE
SHARES FIRST SINGLE "LEFT FOR DEAD" VIA BILLBOARDLISTEN: "Left For Dead" -  https://soundcloud.com/innovativeleisure/bass-drum-of-death-left-for-dead
When Bass Drum of Death started touring the rock club circuit outside Oxford, Mississippi several years ago, there was a legitimate concern that the band's appeal might be limited to fans of the garage scene. With a seemingly never-ending series of tour dates, BDoD nonetheless transformed rooms full of normally too-cool-to-rock indie crowds into a mob of sweaty, stage-diving maniacs. Meanwhile, Madison Avenue, eager to cash in on hip cachet, took notice. Since the release of 2011's GB City, "Get Found" has been featured in FOX promos for the NASCAR season. Rockstar Games' mega seller Grand Theft Auto V helped to promote last year's self-titled album. Gamers terrorized the freeways of Los Santos, living out their cops-and-robbers fantasies, as "Crawling After You" blasted through their car stereo speakers. Bass Drum of Death are teetering on the brink of reaching a mainstream audience, and Rip This is their attempt to record an unapologetic rock album for people outside their normal fan base.

In the past, BDoD brainchild John Barrett wrote and recorded all the material and toured with a revolving lineup of hired guns on drums and guitar. This time around, drummer Len Clark joins Barrett as a full-time member and collaborator. The duo began discussing plans for a new record when touring with Unknown Mortal Orchestra in 2013. Barrett and Clark then convinced UMO bassist Jacob Portrait to take on the role of producer when the band booked a session in March at Prairie Sun Studios in Sonoma County, California. With a few rough demos, Barrett, Clark, and Portrait hunkered down for two weeks and cranked out the band's first proper studio album. Rip This retains BDoD's trademark sorry-for-partyin' swagger while scrapping the crackling hiss and lo-fi fuzz. The result is a record that still relies on an obliterating attack of heavy guitars, danceable hooks, and kinetic drumming, but will appeal as much to KISS fans as the music freaks and geeks who worship Nuggets. Both a challenge to music critics and a rock call-to-arms, the title says it all. You're not going to hear many records this year that rip like this, so shotgun a beer, tune in, and turn up. Check out the first single "Left For Dead" above and see all upcoming BDoD tour dates and Rip This album details below.
