LUNA SHARE NEWVIDEO FOR "FRIENDS"
OUT NOW:LP A SENTIMENTAL EDUCATIONEP A PLACE OF GREATER SAFETY
TOUR KICKS OFF NOVEMBER 1
In support of their new album, A Sentimental Education, Luna have unveiled a video for their cover Doug Yule's "Friends," directed by Matthew Buzzell. Buzzell is an Assistant Professor of Communications at Augusta University, and with the exception of LA-based cinematographer George Su, his entire production crew was made up of students working on their senior projects. The result is a visual delight, as endearingly genuine as the song itself. Buzzell previously directed the Luna documentary Tell Me Do You Miss Me.
Aquarium Drunkard premiered "Friends," noting that Luna's take on the classic "feels natural and lived in with Wareham’s familiar and wistful vocal out front as the group gently sways in stride."
Last month, Luna released new album A Sentimental Education, as well an EP of instrumentals, A Place of Greater Safety, on Double Feature Records. Prior to release, the band shared their interpretations of Fleetwood Mac's "One Together," Mink Deville's "Let Me Dream If I Want To" and The Cure's "Fire in Cairo," complete with a dreamy music video starring Rose McGowan.
Luna will tour this fall, dates beginning in Minneapolis on November 1 and concluding in New York City on November 18. The full list is below.

Miya Folick shares "Give It To Me" video
Miya Folick has just shared the title track of her forthcoming EP Give It To Me via an ebullient new video clip in which she delivers an ecstatic vocal performance from the front seat of a rollercoaster. The five song EP, slated for a November 3rd release on Terrible Records, was recorded with an aim of capturing the cathartic, guitar-driven bombast of her band's recent live performances (newly updated tour dates below); nowhere is this more clearly evinced than on "Give It To Me":

SOFT SOUNDS FROM ANOTHER PLANET
OUT NOW VIA DEAD OCEANS

Today, Japanese Breakfast has released a music video for "The Body Is A Blade," taken from the critically acclaimed album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, out now on Dead Oceans.
WATCH "THE BODY IS A BLADE" VIDEO

The video sees Michelle Zauner on director's duty again, with frequent collaborator Adam Kolodny as the cinematographer. Zauner states that she sought inspiration for this video by searching through old photographs in her family home; "I've always loved the way old photographs look. For this video I spent a lot of time searching family albums for sets of old photographs to animate."
We get a peek behind the veil of Japanese Breakfast's already personal music in a visceral and affecting way; single camera shots of Zauner are juxtaposed by beautiful and poignant old family photographs of her parents and especially her mother.
"I wanted this video to commemorate my mother who died three years ago today", she continues, "It felt fitting for the song to create a really personal mixed media piece, almost like a moving scrapbook.''
Japanese Breakfast has also announced 2018 tour dates with Jay Som and Hand Habits. All dates below.

ABOUT JAPANESE BREAKFAST:"The title Soft Sounds From Another Planet alludes to the promise of something that may or may not be there. Like a hope in something more. The songs are about human resilience and the strength it takes to claw out of the darkest of spaces."Michelle Zauner wrote the debut Japanese Breakfast album in the weeks after her mother died of cancer, thinking she would quit music entirely once it was done. That wasn't the case. WhenPsychopomp was released to acclaim in 2016, she was forced to confront her grief. Zauner would find find herself reliving traumatic memories multiple times a day during interviews, trying to remain composed while discussing the most painful experience of her life. Her sophomore album, Soft Sounds From Another Planet, is a transmutation of mourning, a reflection that turns back on the cosmos in search of healing."I want to be a woman of regimen," Zauner sings over a burbling synth on the album's opening track "Diving Woman." This serves as Zauner's mission statement: stick to the routine lest you get derailed, don't cling to the past, don't descend. In fact, ascend to the stars; Zauner found artistic solace removed from Earth, in outer space and science fiction. "I used the theme as a means to disassociate from trauma," she explains. "Space used as a place of fantasy."And yet, Soft Sounds From Another Planet isn't a concept album. Over the course of 12 tracks, Zauner explores an expansive thematic universe, a cohesive outpouring of unlike parts structured to create a galaxy of her own design. In the instrumental "Planetary Ambience," synths communicate the way extraterrestrials might, and on the shapeshifting single "Machinist," which Zauner has been performing live for over a year now, she details the sci-fi narrative of a woman falling in love with a machine. "It's pure fiction," she explains, "But it can map onto real relationships in a relevant way." The track, which begins with spoken-word ambience, moves into autotune '80s pop bliss and ends with a sultry saxophone solo, perfectly marries the experience: there's a perceptible humanity in mechanical, bodily events.Within its astral production, much of Soft Sounds From Another Planet stays grounded. "Road Head" is the last chest compression in attempt to resuscitate a doomed relationship, while the penultimate track "This House" is an acoustic dirge that honors Zauner's chosen family. The baroque pop "Boyish" has a haunting, crystalline clarity that recalls the pathos of a Roy Orbison ballad, while "Body is a Blade" embraces the dark intimacy of Zauner's Pacific Northwest heroes Elliott Smith and Mount Eerie. With help from co-producer Craig Hendrix (who also co-produced Little Big League's debut) and Jorge Elbrecht, (Ariel Pink, Tamaryn) who mixed the album, Zauner recontextualizes her bedroom pop beginnings, expanding and maturing her sound. The sheer massiveness of the big room production onSoft Sounds From Another Planet introduces listeners to a new Japanese Breakfast. Zauner's familiar, capacious voice will serve as their guide."Your body is a blade that moves while your brain is writhing," she sings. "Knuckled under pain you mourn but your blood is flowing." There's discernible pain in the phrasing, Zauner recognizing limitation, a lack of control, but then subverting the feeling, creating her own musical language for confronting trauma. Where Psychopomp introduced the world to Japanese Breakfast, Soft Soundsdives deeper. It builds space where there is none, and suggests that in the face of tragedy, we find ways to keep on living.

High Waisted shares fiery new video for "feminist rock and roll war cry"
NYC-based rockers
High Waisted
release new video
"Firebomb"
"The new offerings build on the group’s mix of lo-fi garage rock and vintage surf music...The band has never sounded more confident." -
Billboard
Listen: High Waisted - “Free Throw” + “Firebomb”
(Brooklyn, NY) One of the most notorious bands in the NYC underground, rockers High Waisted have made a name for themselves with their wild live shows and Jessica Dye’s (lead vox, guitar) style and feminist swagger. As GQ so succinctly described, “High Waisted is a lot of things: a surf-rock band that throws raucous Lower East Side parties, friends and roommates, a group of people who stay up late and get up early. Their whirlwind energy gets channeled into creating a boisterous atmosphere just as much as into the music.”
With a Tad Kubler (The Hold Steady) produced sophomore album in the works for Spring 2018, the band rounded out by Jono Bernstein (drums) Richey Rose (bass) and Stephen Neilsen (guitar / vox) will be road testing hard this fall with a new split single in tow.
“Free Throw” and “Firebomb” saw release on September 15th as part of a split with The Coax via Little Dickman Records.
The two singles tease a blazing path forward for High Waisted, moving towards a fuller sound with Arun Bali of Saves the Day handling mixing duties.
Look for “Free Throw” and “Firebomb” out now via Little Dickman Records and be sure to follow High Waisted on any of their social channels detailed below.

Jonny Lang is pleased to announce his performance at Shepherds Bush Empire, London where he will play songs from his brand new studio album, Signs , which was released in Europe on August 25 via Provogue Records / Mascot Label Group. The album is his first in four years.
Starting off the record with a juke joint stomp, “Make It Move” is Lang’s story about going to the mountain rather than waiting for it to come to you. “There have been times in my life where I thought something would take care of itself, when I should have put some effort forth to help it happen,” says Lang. “Being proactive has been a weak spot for me, and the song is about doing your part to get things moving.”
Anyone who originally discovered Jonny Lang through his searing instrumental work will revel in the huge guitar tones and go for broke solos on Signs, while those who have appreciated his growth as an honest and passionate songwriter will find that honesty and passion unabated. Though he long ago left blues purism behind, Lang has never abandoned its spirit of universal catharsis through the relating of personal trials. Signs reaffirms his commitment to the blues and the guitar without sacrificing the modern approach that has made him such a singular artist.
It is hard to believe that at only 36 years old Jonny Lang has already had a successful career for two decades. Easier to believe when you learn he released his first platinum record at 15—an age when many young people are just beginning to play music. Lie to Me revealed a talent that transcended the crop of blues prodigies floating around in the late Nineties. No flashy re-hasher of classic blues licks, even at that early age Lang was a full-blown artist with a style of his own. Also, setting Lang apart from the wunderkind crowd was a 15-year-old voice that sounded like a weathered soul shouter. Actual life experience was yet to come, and has been subsequently chronicled in a series of five uniformly excellent recordings.
What began as a bluesy sound, influenced by electric pioneers like Albert Collins, B. B. King, and Buddy Guy, evolved over those recordings into a modern R&B style closer to Stevie Wonder and contemporary gospel music. Lang’s distinctive, blues-inflected licks appeared on every album, but became one element in a sea of passionately sung and tightly arranged songs.
Signs is not merely a return the artist’s guitar-based beginnings, but an embodiment of an even more elemental sound. Beyond focusing attention on his soloing prowess, it is about recapturing the spirit of the early blues, where the guitar was front and center, fairly leaping out of the speakers. “A lot of my earlier influences have been coming to the surface, like Robert Johnson, and Howlin’ Wolf,” he reports. “I have been appreciating how raw and unrefined that stuff is. I had an itch to emulate some of that and I think it shows in the songs. Still, I let the writing be what it was and that was sometimes not necessarily the blues.”
The record, which features funk, rock, and blues elements, is held together by Lang’s distinctive playing and singing, and the lyrics, which center on themes of embattlement and self-empowerment. “Some of the songs are autobiographical, but not usually in a literal way,” Lang explains. “The main goal is for folks to be able to relate to what I went through. If I can’t make it work using just my personal experience, I use my imagination to fill in blanks.”
Signs was produced by Lang, Drew Ramsey, and Shannon Sanders, Josh Kelly helmed “Bring Me Back Home.” Lang offers, “Josh and I cut six or seven songs together and had a blast doing it. I am saving the other ones for who knows what, but I definitely wanted that one to be on this record.”
Since the release of his debut album, Grammy Award winning Jonny Lang has built a reputation as one of the best live performers and guitarists of his generation. The path Lang has been on has brought him the opportunity to support or perform with some of the most respected legends in music. He has shared the stage with everyone from The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Aerosmith and Buddy Guy, who he continues to tour with today.

"Part swagger, part reflection, it both smolders and shimmers ..."
– NPR Music
“ ...one of the most purposeful full-length statements in her quarter-century career.”
– Rolling Stone
“ …a despairingly poetic, chillingly vital album"
– Pitchfork
“Native Invader finds a balance between Amos’ ongoing flirtations with electronica and guitar rock and the more organic, orchestral aspects of her sound, with lush results.”
– AV Club
“She's been called various forms of otherworldly throughout the years, but as she again proveson her new album, Amos is very much of this world. This is just what a person sounds like when she refuses to give up on it.”
– Lenny Letter
"The strength of this album, and the 14 that precede it, is the immense healing and soothing found in the sheer beauty of Amos’ vocal delivery. To just sit and let her voice wash over you, floating you away to a nicer part of the pool, is very much welcome right now."
– Consequence of Sound
Tori Amos has recently released her highly anticipated new album, Native Invader , on Decca Records. Following 2014’s Unrepentant Geraldines – her eighth Billboard Top 10 album -- Amos’s fifteenth studio album is an intense feast of melody, protest, tenderness and pain. Native Invader received critical acclaim across the board, spanning Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, Consequence of Sound, Lenny Letter, Stereogum and much more! At the centre of Native Invader is this theme of division and with the new body of work available in its entirety today, Amos looks forward to unifying fans & allies on the road. Tori Amos’ extensive North American fall concert schedule kicks off next week as part of a larger world tour which began in September in Europe.
Just ahead of the tour’s launch, Amos will make several appearances in NYC this week at Barnes & Noble in Union Square and AOL Build . Fans not based in NYC will have a chance to participate in a live Facebook Q&A between Tori and Noah Michelson of the Huffington Post, raising funds and awareness for RAINN and Salon Q&As and ask their own questions during a Reddit AMA .
A pioneer across multiple platforms, Tori was the first major label artist to offer a single for download. Nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, she has had her songs turned into graphic novels and has produced ground-breaking videos throughout her career. In late 2016 she released the title song ‘Flicker’ to the acclaimed Netflix documentary ‘Audrie and Daisy’, addressing issues of high school rape. A noted humanitarian, Tori is co-founder of RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), which is the United States’ largest anti-sexual assault organization.
