Today, Warner Bros Records marked the 10th anniversary of the acclaimed work by releasing The Con X: Covers. The collection features 14 of Tegan and Sara's favorite artists, each interpreting a song from the original album. Ohio-born, Los Angeles-based Line & Circle will follow up their acclaimed singles and debut LP with their new EP Vicious Folly, due Dec. 1 via Grand Gallop. Today they have shared the first track from it via Buzz Bands LA. The bulk of the record was tracked live to tape in one day at Los Angeles’ Vox Studios with Michael Harris (Angel Olsen’s My Woman), with additional sessions in various warehouses, bedrooms, and backhouse studios around the band’s Echo Park neighborhood. The project was mixed with frequent collaborator Jonathan Low (The National, The War On Drugs) at Aaron Dessner of The National’s Long Pond studio in Hudson Valley, New York.At a moment when cultural divisions seem increasingly tense and tribalistic, Vicious Folly explores a belief the Romans held centuries ago: homo homini lupus — man is a wolf to man. Whether the conflicts here are romantic (“Man Uncouth”), ideological (“Vicious Folly”), or familial (“Who Runs Wild”), the songs contemplate the disquieting idea that man himself is his own greatest threat. Vicious Follybrings the resulting emotional complexity to life by expanding on the band’s characteristically moody but vibrant color palette. Interweaving bass clarinet pulses and distorted tape loops move underneath minimalist patterns of chiming guitar and bass melody counterpoint. Singer/guitarist Brian J. Cohen’s dramatic tenor pulls across the songs’ brisk rhythmic foundations, which are more unhinged here than in previous releases.The record’s cover images, Peter Flötner’s 16th century hand-painted playing cards from post-Reformation Germany, offer further support. Flötner used his cards to depict and denounce the perceived greed, gluttony, and folly of his time. That the imagery strikes a chord today — as it surely did then — is either deeply comforting, or incredibly disconcerting, depending on your information filter. Welcome to the sound of highly lauded French duo The Limiñanas! The French psych duo will release their Istanbul Is Sleepy EP on November 17 on Because Music. Istanbul Is Sleepy features title track "Istanbul Is Sleepy" - in collaboration with Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) - as well as new single "Shadow People." The band premiered the entrancing, Sixties-inspired video for the EP's title track - featuring collaborator Anton Newcombe and directed by Jean Luc Moly - at Brooklyn Vegan. “garagey, soundtrack-infused psych, a swirl of pounding drums, spoken French, baroque melodies” - Mojo Magazine Reflecting on the single and their collaboration with Newcombe, Lionel explained, "'Istanbul Is Sleepy' is like the classic dream where you become the hero, the Captain Blood or Midnight Sultan. The one who rescues and seduces Maureen O’Hara or Ava Gardner. Anton is singing and playing guitar on the track. He was inspired, in particular, by The Cult during their ‘Rain’ period. Last year, Mojo magazine asked us to record a cover for a special Kinks tribute. We chose ‘Two Sisters’. Marie and I were thinking for the vocal part it would be great to approach Anton Newcombe, having opened for The Brian Jonestown Massacre at Le Trianon in Paris. The work began like that. We had an album to record and we decided to finish it with him. During the Christmas week we took our demos, flew to Berlin and recorded at Anton’s studio. Six days later we had a finished album.”
Antone Newcombe added, "I really enjoyed work from scratch with The Limiñanas to create this song. From the composition phase to the way of singing on the track, I had the idea of singing like David Bowie, singing like Iggy Pop who try to sing like David Bowie... It was really exciting to take part of all the creative process of this record."

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE LOS ANGELES, CA, OCTOBER 19, 2017 - Today, Dhani Harrison unveiled the music video for his first single "All About Waiting" from the new album IN///PARALLEL,released earlier this month. Harrison gave what Rolling Stone deemed a "scorching" performance of the song last week on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The animated music video depicts a futuristic world, overly developed with machinery and computers, echoing Harrison's contemplative lyrics "revolution, evolution, patience, revolution, evolution, wasted," in a setting filled with scenes of both natural and human-influenced disasters impacting the landscape. The protagonist of the video, a DNA scientist, reaches an apparent point of opposition to her colleagues upon the realization that her efforts may be causing more harm than good, and then pursues an ill-fated attempt to bring her discovery to light with her colleagues and team leaders. In the end, she is stripped of her own DNA and tossed away into an endless abyss by a robotic duplicate version of herself. The video was directed and animated by Adam Osgood, with additional illustrations from A. D'Amico and hand-drawn animation by Sarah Schmidt.IN///PARALLEL offers a soundtrack to self-exploration, and gives listeners a perspective into Harrison's own personal developments in creating his first solo record. Echoing influences from his time as a composer over the past few years, the music of the new record paints a cinematic soundscape. Harrison will be touring the U.S. in support of the new album in November with Summer Moon featuring Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes. The animated music video depicts a futuristic world, overly developed with machinery and computers, echoing Harrison's contemplative lyrics "revolution, evolution, patience, revolution, evolution, wasted," in a setting filled with scenes of both natural and human-influenced disasters impacting the landscape. The protagonist of the video, a DNA scientist, reaches an apparent point of opposition to her colleagues upon the realization that her efforts may be causing more harm than good, and then pursues an ill-fated attempt to bring her discovery to light with her colleagues and team leaders. In the end, she is stripped of her own DNA and tossed away into an endless abyss by a robotic duplicate version of herself. The video was directed and animated by Adam Osgood, with additional illustrations from A. D'Amico and hand-drawn animation by Sarah Schmidt.IN///PARALLEL offers a soundtrack to self-exploration, and gives listeners a perspective into Harrison's own personal developments in creating his first solo record. Echoing influences from his time as a composer over the past few years, the music of the new record paints a cinematic soundscape. Harrison will be touring the U.S. in support of the new album in November with Summer Moon featuring Nikolai Fraiture of The Strokes. LA-based trio Hundred Waters - comprised of vocalist Nicole Miglis, producer Trayer Tryon and drummer Zach Tetreault - recently released their long awaited new full length, Communicating via OWSLA. Today the band have shared the video for standout album track "Firelight." The video was directed by James R. Eads who states: "I was immediately excited about creating something magical and ethereal. The initial idea was to have Nicole, Zach and Trey in the video summoning the light and essentially raising the sun. But after we discussed what the heart of the song was really about, it seemed that the light itself was meant to lead us through the song. The video was then created entirely in virtual reality using Tilt Brush - a program developed by Google where you are sculpting with form and colour and light simultaneously in three dimensional space. I spent about a month sculpting the world that the light lived in. Once the 'set' was completed, I then walked through it filming in VR to generate video content." The video comes ahead of the start of the European leg of Hundred Waters' ongoing world tour (full dates below). Since their blown-out 2011 debut, Toronto trio Odonis Odonis has continued to push their sound further into the depths of post-apocalyptic experimentation. Following 2016's foreboding 'Post Plague', 'No Pop' is the band's starker, more dance-floor-friendly LP.
Stripping down instrumentation to a handful of synths and an electronic drum kit,the band worked quickly to write and record, bringing demos and improvised takes into the studio and completing the recording process over the course of three days.
Taking its name from the anti-commercial 'No Pop' movement, which infers that there "is no expiration date on music nor is it limited by geographic or regional boundaries," 'No Pop'is raw with emotion that's elevated by deft production. Each hypnotizing meditation captures an uncomfortably honest cynicism with a brush of humor, emphasized by sparse vocals that taunt the current dystopia of technology, human emptiness and the mundane. 'No Pop' is the soundtrack of a sinking ship, and we're all happily aboard to go down with it. 'No Pop' is being released by felte (worldwide excluding Canada) and Telephone Explosion (Canada) this Friday.

Today, Fits have shared "Hot Topic," the latest from their upcoming debut album, All Belief is Paradise. AdHoc, who premiered the track today are saying it's "anthemic and cathartic," while the band's Nicholas Cummins says "This song is about losing your voice, getting caught in the throat, and missing an opportunity to stand up for yourself and who you are." All Belief Is Paradise is available for pre-order now and due out 11/17 via Father/Daughter Records.

Local heroes and masters of heavy rock DIMMA bring their epic live show. Harpist and in-demand collaborator MARY LATTIMORE will perform selections from her solo works and beyond.
