Sevdaliza shares new song + video "Hear My Pain Heal"

Visionary Iranian-born Dutch artist Sevdaliza shares her new song "Hear My Pain Heal" and its companion video today. Directed by Ian Pons Jewell, the video is a stunning cinematic project that features a captivating performance by Sevdaliza, further cementing her as one of the most innovative artists in recent years. It's the 17th song on her debut ISON album, which was re-released today. Check it below and share.

QUOTE FROM SEVDALIZA + DIRECTOR IAN PONS JEWELL:
"It's difficult to explain 'Hear My Pain Heal' in terms of its narrative, as it came about as a hallucinatory or dreamlike experience. Sevdaliza mourning at these large bare feet, crying for her lost ones, his head covered by the shadows from the tablecloth. A strange synchronous relationship between the director Ian Pons Jewell and Sevdaliza resulted in 'Hear My Pain Heal.'"

NASHVILLE ROCK DUO THE SMOKING FLOWERS BRING THEIR FIRE AND FURY TO LOS ANGELES

NASHVILLE ROCK DUO THE SMOKING FLOWERS BRING THEIR FIRE AND FURY TO LOS ANGELESAT HOTEL CAFE FRIDAY 12/1   "Often beautifully ragged; sometimes beautifully haunting; many times beautifully goofy-grinned and/or playful, pleading, or pledging - but always beautiful." - Relix Scott and Kim Collins, better known as The Smoking Flowers will be bringing their scorching live show to the West Coast performing at Hotel Cafe on Friday  December 1st. Musically speaking, Kim dances between drums, accordion, acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica, shimmering tambourine and her own sensual, sizzling vocals. Scott plays electric and acoustic guitar, harmonica, and delivers his vocals with the voice of a feisty, gin-battered, heart-on-sleeve, hardscrabble troubadour. The two met while Kim was working at Nashville’s premiere underground club at the time 12th & Porter.  Scott, who was living in New York at the time, was in in town looking for a summer job.  After only one date, Scott went back to New York to pack his things and moved to Nashville. Six months later, the two were engaged. “An edgy Civil Wars... or The White Stripes if Meg sang like a country angel and they lived on a dirt road."-  Kyle O'Brien (Pitchfork) The Smoking Flowers last release 2 Guns was co-produced and engineered by Adam Landry of Cosmic Thug (Deer Tick, Middle Brother, Diamond Rugs). The couple’s passion and chemistry is ever present in the music they make together. The thirteen songs on 2 Guns were raucously brought into existence in single recorded takes over about four days. It is a ferocious musical document that eerily proved to be a foreshadowing of the battle the couple was soon to encounter.  Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer just after they recorded and mixed the album, delaying its release by almost two years. Kim's breast cancer is in remission today due to only using holistic and alternative methods (no chemotherapy, no radiation, no hormones). With this life altering experience to draw on, the couple have tapped even deeper into their raw punk and folk roots in the composition of their forthcoming release, 'Let's Die Together'. The kind of undeniable urgency that flows and howls throughout these recordings cannot be faked.  “provocative and risky” - Pop Matters This energy and urgency is palpable in every room they play in. They play every show like it’s the  last. They  possess an energy and vulnerability that comes from two people who have nothing to lose yet came close to losing it all.   2 Guns :  STREAM HERE THE SMOKING FLOWERSAT HOTEL CAFE 12/1MORE INFORMATION HERE  Keep Up with The Smoking Flowers:Press Materials  |  http://smarturl.it/SmokingFlowers https://www.thesmokingflowers.com/ https://twitter.com/thesmokingflwrshttps://www.instagram.com/thesmokingflowers/ https://soundcloud.com/the-smoking-flowershttps://www.youtube.com/user/thesmokingflowers

Morrissey Strikes Again With 'Low in High School,' Out

Morrissey Strikes Again With 'Low in High School,' Out LA pop-up shop, more North American shows, and more follow Morrissey's latest release
Today, Morrissey releases 'Low in High School,' his first studio album since 2014 and his debut for BMG and his new label, Etienne Records. The album was produced by Joe Chiccarelli (Frank Zappa, The Strokes, Beck, The White Stripes) and was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and Ennio Morricone's Forum Studios in Rome. The album's debut single "Spent the Day in Bed," a departure from his beloved sound, driven by electric piano, synthesizers, and acoustic guitars, delivers "sage advice for our troubled times" (LA Times). Q Magazine hails 'Low in High School' as one of Morrissey's "most consistently excellent albums" in a 4/5-star review, while MOJO calls it a "glistening and richly textured beast." Watch Morrissey perform "Spent the Day in Bed" live on The Graham Norton Show: http://shorefi.re/2imQLtTOther album standouts include "Jacky's Only Happy When She's Up On The Stage," released on a 7" that features a cover of Elvis Presley's "You'll Be Gone," and "I Wish You Lonely" share the intimate call to arms of "Spent the Day in Bed" and are welcoming additions to this already classic canon.Last Friday, the Los Angeles City Council declared November 10th "Morrissey Day" in Los Angeles, California, which included an official commemorative certificate presented at the first of two sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl, which, for the first time, changed its menus to all vegetarian. The performances included new material from 'Low in High School,' fan favorites, and surprising covers of Elvis Presley and The Pretenders for a show where, as the LA Times observed in its positive review, "Morrissey was welcomed as the hero." The current tour has also been praised by Billboard ("fantastic"), Variety ("triumphant"), LA Weekly ("asserts his place in the pantheon"), and more. The tour continues through December:Morrissey Fall 2017 TourMon, Nov 20 - Denver, CO - Paramount TheatreWed, Nov 22 - St. Louis, MO - Peabody Opera HouseSat, Nov 25 - Chicago, IL - Riviera TheaterTue, Nov 28 - Detroit, MI - The Fillmore DetroitThu, Nov 30 - Washington, DC - The AnthemSat, Dec 2 - New York, NY - Theatre at Madison Square GardenMon, Dec 4 - Philadelphia, PA - The FillmoreThu, Dec 7 - Boston, MA - Orpheum TheatreThis weekend (Nov. 17-19), Morrissey will host a pop-up shop at 8250 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90048 to celebrate the new album. Meredith Monk's groundbreaking 1971 debut album, Key. Pitchfork named it "Best New Reissue"

Happy 75th Birthday, Meredith Monk !
Tompkins Square label has reissued Meredith Monk's groundbreaking 1971 debut album, Key.Pitchfork named it "Best New Reissue" (8.7)
BUY LP
Composer, singer, director/choreographer, creator of new opera, musical theater works, films and installations, Meredith Monk is one of the most unique and influential artists of our time. Awarded a National Medal of Arts by President Obama in 2015, Monk has blazed her own trail through music and movement over the past 50 years. Pitchfork noted : "Meredith Monk's influence as a singer and composer extends through Björk, Joanna Newsom and beyond."
Key contains Monk's earliest compositions for voice, composed and performed from 1967-1970. In her words:"In Key I wanted to create a constantly shifting ambience. Each song dealt with a different vocal character, landscape, technical concern or emotional quality. I was trying for a visceral, kinetic song form that had the abstract qualities of a painting or a dance. I knew that I didn't want to set music to a text: for me, the voice itself was a language which seemed to speak more eloquently than words. I chose certain phonemes for their particular sound qualities. In a sense, each song became a world in itself with its own timbre, texture and impulse."
The Tompkins Square reissue faithfully reproduces the original 1971 LP on Increase Records, with textured cover and original insert images and notes.
TSQ5371 - Tompkins Square is distributed by INgrooves and Revolver in NA, Cargo UK for Europe. Coming this Friday, November 24th - Sonny Clark Trio : The 1960 Time Sessions 2LP set (TSQ5449) Available exclusively at Independent Record Stores for Black Friday/Record Store Day
