NEW ALBUM OFFERING OUT NOW
New York duo Cults share a remix of “I Took Your Picture” by celebrated French DJ and producer Étienne de Crécy (the founder of the iconic Super Discount series) as they head to Paris this evening to play Badaboum, the penultimate show of their current EU tour.
The remix morphs and melds the original around a propulsive beat and shimmering, euphoric synth scales, its sights set firmly on the dance-floor. Of the collaboration Étienne says:
“I’m the biggest fan of the Cults since the first album !!I was really looking forward the third one & I play it on repeat.Strangely Madeline’s voice and melodies fit really perfectly with electronic music, whereas their sound is far from techno!!I was delighted to make a remix for this single as it is one of my favorite on the album!”

Erasure Unveils "Still It's Not Over" From Echo Collective Collaboration; New Tour Dates Added
ERASURE AND ECHO COLLECTIVE
UNVEIL THE FIRST TRACK FROM WORLD BEYOND
OUT MARCH 9
LISTEN TO "STILL IT’S NOT OVER"
NEW DATES ADDED TO NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Photo: Doron GildERASURE (Andy Bell and Vince Clarke) have unveiled the first track from
World Beyond
, the new album out on March 9 on Mute.
World Beyond – which sees the entirety of Erasure’s 2017 album, World Be Gone, given a post-classical rework – is a collaboration with Echo Collective , the Brussels-based group of post-classical musicians best known for their ongoing collaborative work with A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Johann Johannsson, Dustin O’Halloran and Stars of the Lid.
Listen to “Still It’s Not Over,” which tackles the LGBT+ rights movement post-Stonewall and highlights the band’s place within that movement, here.
Stream the original World Be Gone album here.
World Beyond was recorded over ten days by Andy Bell and six performers from Echo Collective. Produced by Echo Collective, mixed by Gareth Jones and arranged by Echo Collective’s Gary De Cart, Margaret Hermant and Neil Leiter. Watch a short film documenting the recording process here.
The tracks featured on World Beyond show award-winning songwriters Vince Clarke and Andy Bell in a more reflective mood, giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination. This new collaboration gives a new dimension to the tracks and the band’s optimism about the future remains clear and bright. Andy Bell explains: “…the reinterpretations have brought such enormous context to the songs, it has created a new place for them.”
The original idea for the album developed from Vince Clarke, who initially suggested that a single fromWorld Be Gone could be given an orchestral reinterpretation, but as the idea expanded and took shape, he spoke at length to Echo Collective ahead of the recording. “It was great to talk through ideas with Echo Collective and then see how their arrangements took shape. The collaboration has given elements of the album a whole new feel and Andy's vocals remain as powerful and uplifting as ever”says Clarke.

SEATTLE, January 31st, 2018 – On February 7th, 2018, music lovers all over the world will observe International Clash Day, an annual celebration of seminal UK punk band the Clash, and a recognition of the enduring influence of their music and human rights message.
This year, city governments, radio stations, record stores and music venues on all seven continents will mark the occasion with special programming, spotlights, official city proclamations and more. A constantly updating listing of all of the participating organizations and communities, along with downloadable International Clash Day posters, shareable graphics and more are available at www.internationalclashday.com.
“Know Your Rights,” the first single from The Clash album Combat Rock, is a biting take on the civil rights of the poor and disenfranchised, and serves as a prime example of the Clash’s unique ability to blend social commentary, activism, and incredible music. On February 7th, the music of the Clash will serve as the soundtrack to the hard work, resolve and commitment to upholding and advancing the values of a free society and an inclusive world.
Radios in 16+ countries will be tuned into Clash programming on February 7th, as 65 radio stations (and counting!) around the world will celebrate International Clash Day with special programming, with Ice Radio 104.5 FM at McMurdo Station, Antarctica kicking off the festivities, followed by RDU98.5FM Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand and OCR FM in Colac, Australia.Stations on every continent will be participating with special Clash programming, including Antyradio in Warsaw, Poland, Flirt 101.3 FM in Galway Ireland, Radio Helsinki in Helsinki Finland, Radio Laguna 93,7 Belgrade, Serbia, Beijing Music Radio in Beijing, China, FM97.4, The Eye Radio in Cape Town South Africa, FM Universidad La Plata in Buenos Aires Argentina, Radio Roquette Pinto in Rio De Janeiro Brazil, UABC Radio in Mexicali Mexico, The Current in Minneapolis, WXPN in Philadelphia, WRVU in Nashville, WFUV in Long Island NY and The Buzz FM in Spearfish South Dakota. Over the next few years, the programming grew and expanded, other radio stations started following suit. Ultimately, cities around the world began to officially declare February 7th to be International Clash Day.
This year is no different, with official proclamations issued by cities and municipalities far and wide, including Washington DC, Tucson AZ, San Francisco CA, Austin TX, Vancouver BC, Kent OH, Burlington VT, and the State of Washington, including King County and the cities of Seattle, Spokane and Olympia. More cities issuing proclamations will be announced in the days to come at http://www.internationalclashday.com and KEXP.ORG.
As the originator of the holiday, KEXP will be going all-out to celebrate. From 6AM to 6PM Pacific, KEXP will play Clash originals, covers and side projects, along with themusic that inspired the Clash and music inspired by the Clash. KEXP will also feature exclusive interviews with Mike Scott of the Waterboys, Moby, Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, plus many more. Leading up to the 7th, KEXP will follow the example of The Clash by using the airwaves and music as a vehicle to spotlight local organizations that focus on human rights.
To cap off the day of on-air programming for International Clash Day, KEXP is hosting a Clash Cover Night on Wednesday, February 7th at 7:00 PM in the KEXP Gathering Space. Nada Surf is also slated to tour in celebration of Let Go's 15th anniversary. The shows are billed as 'An Evening with Nada Surf, Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Let Go.' The band will perform Let Go, take a break, and return for a second set. There will be no support on these shows. The full list of Let Go tour dates can be found below.Originally released in 2003, Let Go had different track listings in the US and UK/EU. This compilation features the US track listing and includes "No Quick Fix" (recorded by Victoria Bergsman of Taken by Trees/The Concretes), a song that appeared only on the initial UK/EU release. "Neither Heaven Nor Space" wasn't included on the initial release in the UK/EU.
Let Go was heralded by the music press (except for Pitchfork, which gave the album a 3.8/10), and is recognized for rejuvenating the band's career after an awkward parting with their initial label, Elektra Records.
"getting dropped after our second record was kind of a blessing. we all of sudden had all this time to be back in our normal lives. there was just enough going with the band to justify not figuring out what the next step in life should be, what other career i should try and figure out. i didn't make myself go to grad school or anything. i worked at the local record store, went to shows, messed around with home recording, buying and selling a couple of used 4-tracks and then 8-tracks, trying different set-ups. i lived in a rent-controlled apartment in williamsburg that was directly above a fruit and vegetable shop. the building i lived in was falling apart. the wind blew right through the walls. i had ice inside my windows in winter. i could make a little noise without bothering anyone. i bought a toy drum kit.
i went straight from college to working as a paralegal, then doing graveyard shift temping at an investment bank, then working at a magazine called guitar world, right up until our first day of preproduction for high/low. the first few years in the band were busy enough that my times at home always felt in-between. now i was in a kind of easy-going low-pressure post-college slightly directionless haze that i hadn't had up until then. in terms of writing songs and making music, it was kind of like making a first album all over again. we didn't have the sense that anyone was watching, we were back in a vacuum. that was very freeing.
i'm totally knocked out by the new versions of these songs, by so many of my favorite artists. i never would have suggested making this album, but i'm sure glad it happened!" - Matthew Caws
"I first heard Nada Surf on a mix CD a friend made me in high school that was pretty life-changing. It was 20+ songs from bands I had never heard of before. It opened the door to "underground" or "indie" music for me, and also the door to actually good songs being written by weirdos in the present day, which I didn't know existed from listening to mostly south jersey pop-punk and hardcore music. I'm pretty sure it was the song "Paper Boats" from Let Go. I really sucked at making music back then so it's cool to have this resurface many years later and be able to be apart of the compilation." - Ron Gallo
"Not many people know this but the night I met my wife was at a Nada Surf gig in London at the Borderline; they are one of those bands that remain very dear to us, not just because Let Gowas a record that we played to death but also because we were label mates, toured together and even released a split 7 inch (now I'm feeling pretty old)...when I was asked to record a version of "Fruit Fly" it made me laugh because I actually can't stand fruitflies, but it's such a beautiful song so the decision was obviously yes. Of course I had to take it down a key, because Matthew has such an amazing and pure voice that can effortlessly reach the high heavens & upper rafters! A honour and a privilege gentlemen. Perhaps I'll be nicer to fruitlfies from now on." -Ed Harcourt
Praise for Let Go:"12 literate songs of consumptive love lives in imbalance, full of big melodies and enough wonder at the world to turn frowns upside down every time." - MOJO
"Virtually every song on Let Go hits its mark in one way or another, dispensing
consistently remarkable moments that range from the sweet minor-key swoon of "Blizzard Of '77" and "Neither Heaven Nor Space" to the sleek, bouncy new wave of "Hi-Speed Soul."
Examining relationships, fruit-fly swarms, and Cheap Trick lyrics with equally keen understanding, all while dispensing a disarming array of subtly endearing hooks,Nada Surf completes the evolution into a smart pop marvel before most listeners knew it had begun." - AV Club
"A dozen near-perfect pop songs, each one teeming
with joyful desperation." - Entertainment Weekly (A-)

Palm shares 'Rock Island' album stream, out 2/9 via Carpark Records
PALM SHARES ROCK ISLAND ALBUM STREAM VIA NPR FIRST LISTEN
TOUR DATES INCLUDE SXSW AND RECORD RELEASE SHOW
ROCK ISLAND, OUT 2/9 VIA CARPARK RECORDS

LISTEN TO ROCK ISLAND VIA NPR FIRST LISTEN
Palm has shared the album stream for, Rock Island, its anticipated new album. NPR , who premiered the stream today as a First Listen, is saying "Palm has pulled off an impressive trick: Rock Island is its most accessible release yet, but never sacrifices its beloved experimental edge. It's a testament to the band's years of collaboration and ceaseless desire to approach rock songwriting and performance from untested angles."
Rock Island, which is available for pre-order now and due out 2/9 via Carpark Records, has been called "a breakthrough for Palm, an original expression of their ferocious energy" by Pitchfork and "melodically complex art-rock with an abundance of digital and organic textures" by The FADER
Palm is hitting the road next week on a tour that includes headlining dates with support from The Spirit of the Beehive, an album release show at Brooklyn's Market Hotel with Melkbelly and Sammus, a stop at SXSW and EU summer dates. Tickets for all shows are available now on the band'swebsite. Full dates below.

On Rock Island, their second LP, Palm produces evidence of a distinct musical language, developed over time, in isolation, and out of necessity. On the island, melodies are struck on what might be shells or spines. Rhythms are scratched out, swept over, scratched again. Individual instruments, and sometimes entire sections, skip and stutter. There is the sense of a music box with wonky tension or a warped transmission in which all the noise is taken for signal.
Like other groups so acclaimed for their compulsive live show, Palm has been burdened by the constant comparison between their recorded material and their touring set. On Rock Island, they render this tired discussion moot, using the album form to present that which could never be completely live, reserving for performance that which could never be completely reproduced.
Despite appearing behind the instruments typical of rock music, Palm trades in sounds of their own making. On these songs, one of the guitars and the drum kit are used as MIDI triggers, producing an index that can be combed through later and replaced with new information. The percussion is sometimes augmented so as to suggest a multiplication of limbs. The strings are manipulated to choke, crack, and hum like other instruments, or other bodies, might.
Working again with engineer Matt Labozza, the band spent the better part of a month in a rented farmhouse in Upstate New York. With the benefits of time and space, Palm recorded the various elements piecemeal, only rarely playing together in groups larger than two or three. While some members tracked, others holed up in the next room, experimenting with quantization, beat replacement, and other methods borrowed from electronic music. Even accounting for the many labors that brought them to be, these materials seem produced by an organic logic. Their complex friction forms a habit of thought, scores a network of grooves on the floor of the mind.
This is music with dimensionality. Sonic objects are deployed, developed, and dissected in various states of mutation. The listener flits about between the field and the lab. The tone is warm in a way only the sun could make, the pace as forceful and as variable as a gale. Whether one locates Rock Island in a sea or in a refinished attic (as in Greg Burak's album cover), whether one escapes to there or is banished, its psychic environs are charted clearly enough. Only at this remove from the mainland can we sense the conditions necessary for such a strange species of sound.

PRAISE FOR PARASITE:
“Parasite, the five-track tease, is a huge step forward for these badass babes, and reflects some new developments to their nuanced song craft while staying true to their unbridled, grimy, and raw as fuck tendencies.” What Youth
“…calls back to various different eras in the band’s run.” Stereogum
“It's a brilliant blast of punk fun, tempered with a serious message.” The Line of Best Fit
“…a perfect piece of hooky garage pop so catchy, you don’t realize you’re humming it half an hour later.” Paste on “Captain’s Dead”
“Parasite welcomes the listener to be part of The Coathangers' 'us against the world' spirit, rather than pushing the listener away.” Drunken Werewolf
“Listen to this when you’re mad about anything, but especially politics, which should mean you’re listening to this daily.” The Grey Estates
“The fact is, the Coathangers are in their prime.” Punk News
“A louder and arguably more sinister counterpart to the band’s 2016 album Nosebleed Weekend…” The Skinny
“More proof Rock n’ Roll isn’t quite dead; just not the boy’s club it once was.” SoundBlab

Parasite kicks off with the title track, a rowdy throwback to a younger, angrier incarnation of the band. Crafted in the wake of the election and during a tumultuous period in the band members’ private lives, “Parasite” is pure catharsis. “During the making of our last album, I didn’t want to scream anymore, I just wanted to sing and focus on melody. When we came to this recording, I just wanted to scream and curse.” If the EP is meant as a journey through the various stages of the band’s career, it certainly storms out of the gate with the same kind of piss-and-vinegar of their eponymous debut. And while “Wipe Out” is another rowdy venture, with bassist Meredith Franco taking over the lead vocal duties over a steady barrage of pointed power-chords, it also showcases the rousing choruses that elevated the trio from underground heroines to an internationally renowned garage act. Despite the adverse times, The Coathangers’ mastery of pop cannot be contained forever, as is evident in the EP’s single “Captain’s Dead”, with its sultry verses, triumphant chorus, and a bombastic freak-out of noisy guitar. The journey through The Coathangers’ musical evolution leads to a revamped version of “Down Down” off 2016’s Nosebleed Weekend LP and the smoky twang of “Drifter”, in which drummer/vocalist Stephanie Luke demonstrates her knack for solid Dusty Springfield-style ballads.
Parasite’s cover features an illustration of The Coathangers as sirens of the sea, an image that aptly captures the nautical themes of the EP. But the notion of The Coathangers as both mischievous and enchanting is certainly fitting too, as is evident in the alternately piercing and beguiling tracks on their latest EP. Suicide Squeeze is proud to offer Parasite as a one-sided 12” on Sea Green vinyl with a b-side etching with an initial limited pressing of 2000 copies. The EP is also available digitally. Parasite is available worldwide on June 30th, 2017.

PUSSY RIOT -- RUSSIAN ANTI-PUTIN FEMINIST ART COMMUNITY ANNOUNCE LIVE PERFORMANCES IN USA
RUSSIAN ANTI-PUTIN FEMINIST ART COMMUNITY PUSSY RIOT ANNOUNCE LIVE PERFORMANCES IN USAA SUBVERSIVE MIX OF ACTIVIST ART AND LIVE SET
photo credit: Sacha Lecca - hi-res photo HERE
Today, we’re announcing Pussy Riot’s first live music performance art tour through America. The feminist art collective protest against the re-election of Putin as the President of Russia earned them a long, fake trial that led to a 2 year prison sentence for “hooliganism”.
Pussy Riot’s performance will include Nadya Tolokonnikova among others, Pussy Riot’s member whose identity was unfortunately and abruptly revealed after her arrest for performing 35 seconds of the Punk Prayer “Virgin Mary, Put Putin Away” in Moscow’s Savior’s Cathedral in 2012.
Besides Pussy Riot’s headline dates that can be described as an extremely politicized marriage of performance art and a concert, they will also take over music stages at Boston Calling and Hangout Festival. Pussy Riot’s worked on new music and video art, such as: “I Can’t Breathe”, their first English language song made in honor of Eric Garner, “Chaika” about Russia’s corrupt prosecutor general, “Make America Great Again” which was eerily created and shot before #45 was elected president, and “Police State” which was released ad the end of last year with a video starring Chloe Sevigny. Alongside the performances, there will be new art revealed to spread the continued calls for action and protest to a wider audience.
Art is just a part of Pussy Riot’s mission. In 2014, since the release of two members from prison, they launched Mediazona, a free-of-censorship independent Russian media agency focusing on law enforcement issues like conditions in prisons and prosecutions of political activists. Activists of Pussy Riot are advocating for the prison reform in Russia and providing help and lawyers to prisoners.
Members of Pussy Riot’s community chose to keep fighting for their fellow citizens’ human rights, though since 2012 Putin’s regime started harsh oppression of outspoken activists, thus any member of Pussy Riot may be arrested again at any point. Two of Pussy Riot’s members Lusine Djanyan and Aleksej Knedljakovskji filed for political asylum in Sweden, since they’ve been persecuted and are facing death threats in Russia.
Pussy Riot would like to rally with you at these upcoming live performances.

Chvrches Share "Get Out"
CHVRCHES SHARE “GET OUT”FIRST NEW SINGLE IN TWO YEARS
PHOTO CREDIT: DANNY CLINCHScottish electro-pop trio CHVRCHES are excited to share today their new single “Get Out." The song is their first new single since the 2015 release of their critically acclaimed second album, Every Open Eye. Produced by 2017 and 2018 GRAMMY Producer of the Year Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia), “Get Out” is out now via Glassnote Records (US) and Virgin (UK) and you can listen to it HERE.
DOWNLOAD SINGLE ART HERESpeaking about the new single, the band says, “Working with Greg was so different to what we’d done before, but it also felt so comfortable and like he’d been in our band forever. He doesn’t try to make you write a certain kind of song. He just listens and then Jedi puppet masters the best work out of you. The opening synth riff of ‘Get Out’ was the first thing to emerge on our first day in the studio with him.”
CHVRCHES is Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. The band released their breakthrough record, The Bones Of What You Believe, in 2013. The critically acclaimed album went on to make the year end lists at Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum and more. Its follow-up, Every Open Eye, charted as the #1 Alternative Album, #8 overall album on the Billboard 200, #7 Current Album, and the #1 Rock Album, as well as the top 20 in ten other countries worldwide. NPR said of the album, “Every Open Eye offers no apologies, no caveats, no halfway measures. Chvrches' disco ball is tiled with galvanized steel,” and Entertainment Weekly named it one of the best albums of the year.
Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry spoke about the new music to Entertainment Weekly for their 2018 preview, “When I listen to the record, I feel like it’s the most pop stuff we’ve done and also the most aggressive and vulnerable at the same time. It was about really leaning into those moments — and also wanting there to be a real humanity and character to what we’re saying.”
Over the course of their career, CHVRCHES have played countless shows worldwide, with each tour’s production reaching new heights and leaping towards the top of festival bills . On their final tour for Every Open Eye, CHVRCHES played a career-defining show at Radio City Music Hall in 2016. The band will be back to play their first NY area show, playing Governor’s Ball on Randall’s Island in June 3rd. Stayed tuned more dates atwww.chvrch.es/.

The performance was filmed in one extended shot at the famed Harpa Concert Hall in Iceland, just before the band headlined the Iceland Airwaves music festival. In the video, the camera moves from backstage to onstage to the open auditorium, capturing the Fleet Foxes musicians at work, illuminated against the beautiful hall. The video was produced by Consequence of Sound and directed by Eilífur Örn Þrastarson, with creative direction by Kevin McMahon. Full credits are listed below.
Fleet Foxes will begin an extensive run of dates this March, including festival plays at Coachella, Boston Calling and Shaky Knees as well as several headline shows, including two nights at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Amen Dunes will join them for select dates. The full itinerary is below.
These spring dates come on the heels of an exceptional 2017. Following their highly anticipated return from a six-year hiatus, Fleet Foxes released an internationally beloved full-length album, Crack Up; sold out notable venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl; performed on theLate Show with Stephen Colbert as well as a CBS This Morning, and earned year-end recognition fromEsquire, Consequence of Sound, Paste, Uproxx, Vulture, and more.

“On Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl, Robin Pecknold was as powerful as any performer who’s ever played the Bowl’s stage. He was a flash of folk and light and feeling. He was gentleness masked in fury, or maybe the other way around. Whichever it is, he sure as hell won’t say.” - Uproxx
“Triumphant Return… Despite the large venue, Pecknold’s vocals were able to reach those in the far back, highlighted by the band’s impressive musicianship… It all coalesced to create a rich, ethereal setting.” - Billboard
“The culmination of a two-hour high-wire act full of intricate, often breathtaking music. Judging by the flushed, smiling faces of the faithful as they file questly out, one that’s been worth the six-year wait.”- Q Magazine
"The show felt like it had disregarded the laws of physics, with each perfect transition between songs threading time together, making you feel like there was no such thing as an end." - Seattle Weekly
"They brought with them everything fans love about Fleet Foxes: layered harmonies shepherded by Robin Pecknold's still-incredible voice, pastoral lyrics, and an almost religious-seeming intensity that made the Crystal feel like a cathedral." - Portland Mercury
"Bigger and better after hiatus." - Washington Post
"Tuesday night's show showcased the immense talent of everyone involved in the group for a truly engaging live experience." - New York Daily News
"The six-year wait seemed almost worth it for the chance to spend a short while in the company of Pecknold once again." - Consequence of Sound
"Pecknold’s ultra-pure voice and timeless, picturesque lyrics soared through the hall all night, raising goosebumps at the peak moments in beloved “oldies” like “Ragged Wood,” “He Doesn’t Know Why,” “Helplessness Blues” and especially “Mykonos.” - Las Vegas Weekly

Ibeyi share "Me Voy (feat. Mala Rodriguez) [King Doudou Remix]" | Live From Here with Chris Thile appearance confirmed | West Coast Tour dates added

LIVE FROM HERE WITH CHRIS THILEAPPEARANCE CONFIRMED FOR FEBRUARY 24TH AT THE FITZGERALD THEATRE
COACHELLA + WEST COAST HEADLINING TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Today Ibeyi have shared another remix for their Spanish sung single “Me Voy feat. Mala Rodriguez;” this one remixed by PNL-affiliated producer King Doudou. The remix has dropped as the twins arrive to South America for a short run of dates in support of their critically-acclaimed sophomore album Ash, out now on XL Recordings. Listen to “Me Voy (King Doudou remix)” HERE
Additionally it’s been announced that Ibeyi will perform on Live From Here with Chris Thile on February 24th at The Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ibeyi will join Chris Thile and a handful of special guests for an evening of music, comedy and spoken word. For tickets visit this link HERE.
To celebrate the release of Ash, Ibeyi are continuing their global tour into 2018 with a French and European tour in March before returning to North America this April for their second appearance at Coachella and headline shows in San Francisco, San Diego and Austin, TX. They have also just announced festival appearances including Primavera Sound, Barcelona (June 1st), We Love Green, Paris (June 2nd). More information on dates here.
As 2017 came to an end, Ibeyi’s sophomore album Ash was notably included in Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, FADER, Esquire, Time Out and Remezcla’s “Best of 2017” year-end lists. With Pitchfork explaining, “To hear Ibeyi’s second LP, Ash—minimalistic arrangements of modern jazz, soul, and hip-hop elegantly woven with West African rhythms—is to receive energy carrying the weight of history….Its very existence is proof of a culture that refused to be suppressed, and its beauty a testament to the pain that made it possible.”
