His films define modern horror cinema. His music brings unforgettable nightmares to life. And this Fall, John Carpenter, one of the most iconic names in cinema history, will stage a four night residency at The Belasco Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, marking his first live performances since 2018. Dates for the JOHN CARPENTER LIVE residency are Oct. 24 and Oct. 25; plus Halloween night, Oct. 31; and Nov. 1.
John will be joined for these special concerts by his longtime collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, with whom he has created four Lost Themes albums, as well as scoring all three entries of the recent Halloween trilogy and 2022’s Firestarter. In celebration of the trio’s decade-long run, today they have launched preorders for the forthcoming Lost Themes 10th Anniversary Expanded Edition, due May 9th from Sacred Bones. The updated edition features new artwork by Greg Ruth, expanded liner notes, and a bonus 7” containing two previously unreleased songs from the album’s original recording sessions, “Dominator” and “Cruisin’ With Mr. Scratch” - the latter of which can be streamed now.
Presale for tickets to JOHN CARPENTER LIVE, his first-ever music residency, begins today for fans who have pre-registered, with tickets available to the general public beginning at 10 am PST on Friday, January 31. Tickets can be purchased at https://theofficialjohncarpenter.com/tour/. Carpenter has partnered with PLUS1 to provide $2 from each ticket to the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, which supports incarcerated firefighters; and to the Best Friends Animal Society, helping animals impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires.
“I’ve been setting my nightmares, dreams and visions to music for a very long time, and there’s a lot to choose from,” said Carpenter, whose musical career has included composing scores for more than 20 films, in addition to the four Lost Themes albums of non-film music. “That means every night of this event will offer something different and unexpected.”
JOHN CARPENTER LIVE is produced by Live Nation in association with Storm King Productions, the production company founded and led by Sandy King.

SPY share details for Closed Casket debut, ‘Seen Enough’
SPY share details for Closed Casket debut, Seen Enough
The EP is out February 21 // Listen + share new single “Dim”

Photo by: Naida Lindberg | Hi-res here
Formed in Oakland, CA in late 2019, SPY has built on the foundation of bands like Bad Brains and Poison Idea rather than following the current wave of metallic hardcore. They’re set to unleash their latest release, Seen Enough, on Closed Casket Activities on February 21. No song on the EP ever overstays its welcome, instead embodying what makes hardcore frenetic. Burning through six songs in under ten minutes, every track is a testament to the energy the band has built up through relentless touring.
Today, the band shares the EP's new single, "Dim." SPY vocalist Peter Pawlak says, "The song’s recurring line ('you’re the problem but you don’t see it') is just as easily applicable to some of those you may know in your personal life as it is to a wide array of presently prominent public figures. I’m sure you’re just as sick of all of them as I am.”
Listen / share "Dim" on YouTube

Seen Enough doesn't hide what it's about: society's continued descent with diminishing hope for course correction. From the jump, SPY has followed in the lineage of Bay Area punks like Dead Kennedys and Ceremony in both attitude and awareness. Their latest offering maintains the critical edge of their earlier material while expanding their lyrical scope, delivering a streamlined punch that hits hard through its runtime.
Recorded by Jack Shirley at Oakland's Atomic Garden, Seen Enough was recorded live to tape, eschewing the modern practice of individual tracking in favor of a more immediate, visceral approach that better represents their explosive live show.
By staying true to themselves, SPY have carved out their own niche in the modern hardcore landscape. After touring with legends and contemporaries alike including Gel, Full of Hell, Ceremony, Municipal Waste, Sunami and playing basically every fest worth caring about including Sound and Fury, Outbreak, Sick New World and LDB, 2025 is set to be a monstrous year for SPY.
Pre-order Seen Enough here and look for more news from SPY soon.

"Spoken word reminiscent of '90s hip-hop greats and South London’s vibrant music scene"
NME's 100 List
(January 28th, 2025) - Today, Brooklyn-born, South East London-based rapper Goya Gumbani announces his new album Warlord of the Weejuns, out March 21st via Ghostly International. His first album on his new label, Goya brings a refined artistic vision to Warlord of the Weejuns, carving himself a space in between the two formative musical canons of his life: New York City hip-hop’s storytelling prowess and London’s exciting new Jazz generation, of which he’s a central figure.
Coinciding with the announcement of the album, Goya is also sharing his new single and video, “FireFly,” featuring London-based Swedish soul singer Fatima. The song marks the second offering from Warlord of the Weejuns, following the previously released “Chase The Sunrise”, which featured Yaya Bey, lojii, and Fatima. “FireFly” is a cosmic R&B groove that confronts the raw emotions of a recent breakup, soundtracked by a combination of production contributions from Swarvy, Omari Jazz, Les Lockheart, Zalente, and quickly, quickly.
The album’s title is an ode to Miles Davis, who Goya admires for his fervor for music and the ubiquitous style he brought to every aspect of his life. Goya channels that ambition on this new album, recorded with lush, full-band arrangements that utilize his own voice as part of the instrumentation. With Goya and his sharp, effortlessly smooth delivery leading the way as the album’s tone-setting conductor, he brings in a bevy of musical minds to lay a spacious, radiant collection of musical vignettes that invoke the wordless expressions of jazz and the meditative rhythms of reggae. Threads of affirmation, self-worth, and Black heritage — manifesting knowledge and power from within — run throughout Warlord of the Weejuns. Goya arranged his singular vision with production from Joe Armon-Jones, Swarvy, Franky Bones, Dan Diggers, Alejandro Śanchez, Maxwell Owin, Omari Jazz, Les Lockheart, Zalente and Ghostly labelmate quickly, quickly.
To celebrate the album’s release, Goya will also be hosting two album release shows in New York at MOCADA (Museum of Contemporary African Diasporic Art) on March 22nd and London, at Jazz Café on April 17th.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Goya Gumbani’s relocation to South London in his teens opened a new world of possibilities. Operating within various musical collectives throughout the city, Goya quickly enmeshed himself in London’s buoyant jazz scene as a tastemaker with his renowned NTS show Chicken Foot Soup and as a dynamic performer, having just played Pitchfork Music Fest London with billy woods this past Fall. Goya’s decade-long development as an artist and producer reached a breakthrough when he released his debut self-produced EP Morta & More Doves, dedicated to his sister who passed away in 2018. The release began a prolific period of EPs and mixtapes, with Goya frequently partnering with a single producer for a project. Most recently, Goya dropped Face in the Storm in 2022 and When the Past Bloomed in 2023, featuring contributions from Pink Siifu, John Glacier, Lex Amor, Lord Apex, and others.
Following a much-loved COLORS session, Goya has gained further recognition from industry makers at the intersection of music and fashion, working with the likes of the late designer Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton, Nicholas Daley, and Bianca Saunders. Despite his transatlantic upbringing, the flavor of Goya’s work is rooted in the decorated lineage of NYC Hip-Hop, and he stands out as an evocative and boldly vulnerable lyricist.
Listen to “FireFly” and pre-order Warlord of the Weejuns above, and stay tuned for more from Goya Gumbani coming soon.

PRE-ORDER MAYHEM HERE
Following previously released tracks “Disease” and “Die With a Smile,” Gaga will debut the album’s third single and its accompanying music video on February 2, airing during a commercial break at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards®

Los Angeles, CA – January 27, 2025 – 13-time Grammy Award-winner Lady Gaga today announced her seventh studio album, MAYHEM, due March 7 via Interscope Records. The announcement follows a week of teasers on her website, which was relaunched today alongside a new storefront featuring the first of several merch drops to celebrate the highly anticipated project. Blending the eclectic energy that first captivated her fans with a bold, fearless artistic vision, MAYHEM marks a triumphant return to Gaga’s pop roots. The album explores themes of chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke, and heal. MAYHEM is available to pre-order HERE.
“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” said Gaga. Far from a nostalgic throwback, MAYHEM reinvents her early sound with a kaleidoscopic approach that draws from her expansive musical library while embracing a fresh and fearless artistic perspective. Gaga describes the creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
The 14-track project—which features previously released songs “Disease” and “Die With a Smile”—was executive produced by Gaga, Michael Polansky and Andrew Watt. Producers on the album include Gaga, Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein.
“Disease” was hailed by The Independent as “her best in a long while,” with The Guardian praising its “fizzing, distorted synths” and “pounding, slightly industrial beat.” Rolling Stone highlighted its “cavernous synth line” and “classic Gaga shout-along chorus.” Directed by Tanu Muino, the music video for “Disease” was lauded by Vogue as "one of the best videos of the year," while W celebrated its “cinematic, almost theater-like experience.”
“Die With a Smile,” Gaga’s chart-topping collaboration with Bruno Mars, has become a global sensation. Currently in its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the ballad also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Spotify’s Top 50 Global, setting a record as the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. With over 2.7 billion streams to date, the song is nominated for two 2025 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Billboard called it “a match made in Grammy heaven,” while The New York Times described it as “a romantic, lightly apocalyptic slow-dance.”
Gaga will debut the third single and accompanying music video from MAYHEM for fans on February 2, airing during a commercial break at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards®. The full tracklist for the album will be revealed at a later date.
Ahead of the Grammys, Gaga will join artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks, and Joni Mitchell to perform at FireAid on January 30, benefiting the people and communities devastated by the recent LA wildfires. On March 17, she will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards, followed by a headlining performance at Coachella on April 11 and 18.

ABOUT SIMPLE MINDS:
Inimitable musical pioneers for nearly half a century, Simple Minds are among the most successful UK bands of all time, having achieved more than 1B global streams on Spotify alone (with over 8.3M monthly listeners on Spotify alone) and total worldwide sales in excess of 60M, including six #1 albums in the UK and chart-topping releases in countless other territories including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand.
Coalescing around childhood friends Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, Simple Minds emerged in 1978 with an immediately distinctive sound simultaneously rooted in punk, art-rock, and the electronic avant-garde. Over the next four decades, the band has pushed their open-armed approach to fashion a broad array of stylistic varieties – spanning pop, funk, gospel, soul, dance music, and more – into their own world-straddling brand of stadium-sized rock. Their continually evolving body of work is highlighted by such landmark LPs as 1982’s New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84), 1984’s Sparkle In The Rain, 1985’s Once Upon A Time, and 1989’s Street Fighting Years, along with a stunning canon of iconic global hit singles spanning “Love Song,” “Someone Somewhere (In Summertime),” “Glittering Prize,” “Promised You A Miracle,” “Up On The Catwalk,” “Speed Your Love To Me,” “Waterfront,” “Belfast Child,” and of course the timeless teen anthem, 1985’s US #1 classic, “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” the latter of course famously featured in the classic John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club.
Named as the world’s “Best Live Band” by Q Magazine in 1991, Simple Minds have long commanded the stages of sold-out arenas and stadiums around the planet. Their world-class credentials have been burnished in recent years by an array of equally remarkable accomplishments – from acclaimed new albums (including 2018’s Walk Between Worlds and 2022’s Direction of the Heart, both of which had top 5 chart debuts in the UK), best-selling live albums, career retrospectives, and epic world tours to accolades and honors like a 2014 Q Inspiration Award (presented by avowed fan Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield) to a prestigious Ivor Novello Award for “Outstanding Song Collection” – all of which serve as timely reminders to a new generation of Simple Minds’ ongoing appeal as well a springboard for their next burst of creativity. Now as ever, Simple Minds remain a band touched by powerful magic, continually willing to experiment while remaining true to their original instincts.
“The truth is we never fully wound down,’ says Charlie Burchill. “There have been lots of different incarnations of Simple Minds, but we’ve always kept our identity. A legacy can be a burden if you allow it to be. For us, it’s been empowering.”
“We’ve been on one hell of a journey,” says Kerr. “I’m grateful for the career we’ve had, but I’m mad enough to think we can still hit new levels. This is what we do – write, record and play live. One of the things I’m most proud of is that people say to me, what Simple Minds are you talking about? The avant-garde, the art-rock, the pop, the ambient, the instrumental group, the political, the folk, the stadium band? To play all those different styles but at the same time be quintessentially Simple Minds is an amazing thing.”

BRUIT ≤ announce new album ‘The Age Of Ephemerality’, out April 25 on Pelagic Records. Hear first track now.
- Out April 25th on Pelagic
- First track and video "Ephemeral" online now

“Everything that can be technically achieved will be. All possible combinations will be
exhaustively tested.” - Dennis Gabor’s Law
Today, French instrumental experimentalists BRUIT ≤ announce details of their second full-length album ‘The Age Of Ephemerality’, set for release on the 25th of April via Pelagic. Along with the announcement, they have shared a first track and video "Ephemeral" as well as live dates for later this year.
A philosophical, poetic and political reflection on our insatiable fascination with technology, a dependence as reverential as it is increasingly alienating and exploitative, ‘ The Age Of Ephemerality ’ is a seismic collision of old and new, of sounds organic and electric, with the trailblazing four-piece capturing the resultant symphony in all its chaotic, confrontational glory.
The first track online is album’s opener and lead single "Ephemeral", where a rousing classical motif makes up the first minute before being summarily obliterated by pummelling half time drums and a white noise wall of sound that proves BRUIT ≤ are on razor-sharp form.
The accompanying video, shot and edited by Clara Griot, documents the recording of the album, from two recording studios, time spent in La Soulane in the heart of the Pyrénées and an incredible two-week session in the old Gesu church in Toulouse. It shows the technological eras confront each other in a sonic choreography where a modular synthesizer, a 150-year-old organ, a classical ensemble and a rock band co-exist.

Rising from the smouldering remains of various French major label pop bands in 2016, BRUIT ≤ \ˈbrü-ē\ [French, literally, noise] assembled with the desire to escape the confines of the ‘big business’ music industries and return to creation as an artistic process unadulterated by commercial constraints or expectations.
Initially considered a studio project only, 2018’s ‘ Monolith ’ EP (Elusive Sound) saw the four musicians behind BRUIT ≤ unleash their expansive and intensely emotive hybrid of ambient electronica, modern classical and panoramic post-rock onto the world with a now legendary 20-date tour across France and Belgium. Bolstered by the phenomenal response, the Toulouse-based band returned to their studio, reinvigorated to begin work on their debut full-length, ‘The machine is burning and now everyone knows it could happen again’.
Digitally released to widespread critical acclaim and subsequently physically released through Pelagic Records in 2021, ‘The machine is burning…’ propelled BRUIT ≤ across Europe, playing over 50 shows through 12 countries, performing on prestigious festival stages including Roadburn, ArcTanGent, Amplifest, Dunk and Damnation and touring alongside genre luminaries such as Amenra and EZ3kiel. Having earned a fearsome reputation as a live act, BRUIT ≤ subsequently closed this chapter of the band with the musical refuge of 2023’s contemplative and delicate ‘ Apologie du temps perdu vol.1’ EP (Pelagic Records) before downing tools entirely to tour the world as the backing band for legendary electronic act M83.
Wanting to reconnect with the shoegaze ambience of his critically acclaimed 2003 ‘ Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts ’ and 2005 ‘ Before The Dawn Heals Us ’ albums, Anthony Gonzalez, the musical visionary behind M83, integrated BRUIT ≤ into his live band and also entrusted the musical direction of the tour to Clément Libes, the band’s bassist. It was during this tour that the initial sketches of the band’s next record began to take shape. Both emboldened and overwhelmed by the experience, the quartet eventually fled the endless turmoil of the road and retreated to the heights of the Pyrénées mountains where they finished five new songs, which were then recorded in an 160-year old church in their city of Toulouse. This collection of songs is ‘ The Age Of Ephemerality ’, a full-length album that finds the band remaining steadfast as ever in their sonic roots and creative principles whilst also pushing their musical horizons to the bleeding edge.
A cautionary sonic exploration of society’s deference to the algorithm; ‘The Age Of Ephemerality’ will not be available on major international streaming platforms. Much like the rest of the band’s discography, the album reinforces the collective’s staunch boycott of Spotify; a response to the platform’s consistently diminishing artist payout policies as well as billionaire CEO Daniel Ek’s recent investment in the arms trade. Written in the mountains and recorded in a church, the album is BRUIT ≤ experimenting with capturing the sound of physical space as if it were an instrument in its own right; as something that can never be artificially generated or digitally replicated.
Amplifying contemporary instruments, tools and tech in a building hundreds of years old; synths, drums, strings, an eight-strong electric guitar orchestra made up of friends and collaborators from the Toulouse scene (Slift, Plebian Grandstand, Mourir, Zelezna, Orne) and the original, 1864 church organ collide in an incendiary aural statement that spurns society’s reliance on technocratic tendencies in favour of celebrating togetherness, the power of community and the creative inspiration of the moment.
Afterwards, the band spent weeks between Toulouse’s Studio Capitole and their own Studio La Taniere, experimenting with an array of configurations and arrangements that push the idea of post-production to its limits. By layering contrasting compositional methods from different technological eras on top of a sprawling collection of sounds old and new, BRUIT ≤ deliver an astounding sonic choreography that forces the listener to confront the inequalities and injustices behind the casual convenience of the modern day music industries.
Just as BRUIT ≤ seek to expose how desperate things have become, ‘The Age of Ephemerality’ serves as a harrowing yet profound reminder that the only way to break algorithmic malaise and see real change is to resist, to do it ourselves.
BRUIT ≤ are:
Théophile Antolinos - Guitars, Banjo, Tapes, Soundscapes
Clément Libes - Bass, Baritone Guitars, Bass VI, Violin, Viola, Organ, Piano, Modular Synth, Programming
Luc Blanchot - Cello, Programming, Synth
Julien Aoufi - Drums

WATCH 30-SECOND ALBUM TEASER
Written, produced, and mixed by Wilson at his home studio between December 2023 and August 2024, The Overview sees the world-renowned artist once again expanding the parameters of progressive music, a genre he has long helped redefine through both his groundbreaking solo career and landmark work with Porcupine Tree. The 42-minute collection is comprised of just two epic tracks, “Objects Outlive Us” and “The Overview,” each made up of distinctive musical sections that flow from one to the next, playing out as unique and continuous pieces. Once again, Wilson’s resolutely expansive music incorporates everything from glistening electronics to post-rock and beyond, pushing forward the singular sound and vision that has long defined his wildly ambitious body of work for more than three decades.
“The Overview is a 42-minute long journey based on the reported ‘overview effect,’” says Steven Wilson, “whereby astronauts seeing the Earth from space undergo a transformative cognitive shift, most often experiencing an overwhelming appreciation and perception of beauty, and an increased sense of connection to other people and the Earth as a whole. However, not all experiences are positive; some see the Earth truly for what it is, insignificant and lost in the vastness of space, and the human race as a troubled species. As a reflection of that, the album presents images and stories of life on Earth, both good and bad.”
Although initially conceived as a solo recording, The Overview sees Wilson backed by frequent collaborators Craig Blundell (drums), Adam Holzman (keyboards), and Randy McStine (guitars), alongside lyrics from XTC’s Andy Partridge that help form the story that drives “Objects Outlive Us.” Consistent with Wilson’s illustrious reputation, The Overview will be presented as a true audiophile experience, with spatial/Atmos audio versions available both physically and digitally; vinyl editions of The Overview have been specifically mastered at half-speed at London’s Abbey Road by 3x GRAMMY® Award-nominated engineer Miles Showell (The Beatles, ABBA, The Police).
Wilson will mark the arrival of The Overview with the wide-ranging EU/UK legs of The Overview Tour, including four shows at the historic London Palladium in London, England (May 12-13, 19-20) and a three-night stand at Paris, France’s famed Salle Playel. In addition, The Overview will be accompanied by a full-length film directed by Wilson’s longtime visual collaborator Miles Skarin. Both the film and the album will be officially unveiled with a world premiere event and exclusive Q&A session taking place on Tuesday, February 25 on Britain’s largest cinema screen, London’s BFI IMAX. Tickets for the premiere event are on sale now.

ABOUT STEVEN WILSON:
Hailed by David Fricke in Rolling Stone for his “fighting spirit and truly progressive ideals in rock composition, group improvisation and emotionally authentic storytelling,” Steven Wilson is, among his many guises, a visionary solo artist, founding member of GRAMMY® Award-nominated British rock band Porcupine Tree, and pioneering spatial audio remixer known for his work with such artists as King Crimson, Yes, Tears For Fears, XTC, New Order, and many more. The Overview follows Wilson’s seventh solo studio album, 2023’s The Harmony Codex, which debuted at #4 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart amidst worldwide critical applause from the likes of MOJO, which praised the groundbreaking collection as “a sonic journey where you never quite know what’s round the corner.”
2022 saw the internationally acclaimed release of Porcupine Tree’s long-awaited eleventh studio album and first release in over 12 years, Closure/Continuation, which debuted at #2 on the UK Albums Chart and reached #1 in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. An epic world tour followed, making stops in North America, South America, and Europe before culminating with a triumphant sold-out show at London’s famed OVO Arena Wembley. 2022 also saw the publication of Wilson’s much-applauded first memoir, Limited Edition of One (Little, Brown).
What’s more, 2024 was highlighted by The Itself of Itself, the first full-length release from Wilson’s experimental solo project, Bass Communion, in more than 12 years. The album’s limited-edition release was celebrated with Wilson’s only live appearance of 2024, a sold-out performance at London’s intimate Cafe OTO, as well as the long-awaited arrival of the previous Bass Communion catalog at all leading streaming platforms.

Following last year’s successful run, the 80’s New Wave tour TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL announces its return this summer and features artists that exploded in the pop culture zeitgeist in the 1980’s thanks mainly to the high rotation of their music videos on MTV. These artists have enjoyed a steady rise in popularity in recent years, with their music having a lasting impact. Tour creator and JPA agency founder Jon Pleeter calls the TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL “the best ‘80s party on the planet. The audiences last year fully embraced the spirit of the tour and were wildly enthusiastic. The party continues this summer.”

Men Without Hats and The Tubes return to the tour this year while some artists, such as show closer Right Said Fred, have not toured the U.S. since the early 90’s.
TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL will expand into new cities such as Anaheim, CA, Virginia Beach, VA, Bethlehem, PA, Huber Heights, OH, and Indianapolis, IN. and will keep its popular compact set times highlighting each artist’s major hits. The tour will also offer an expanded merchandise line at shows and online, including limited edition/collector’s items. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 31 at 10am local time. Head to www.totallytubularfestival.com for more information on tickets.

Here’s an array of praise for last year’s TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL:
“As if in a DeLorean, Totally Tubular took us back to the '80s on Tuesday… Some of these '80s hit songs are so woven into the fabric of our lives, fans seemed ecstatic to get the chance to hear and see these songs performed firsthand.’”
--Andrew Sherman, Dallas Observer, 7/10/24
“The Totally Tubular Festival on Friday, July 26 at the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre was a trip in the Way Back Machine, a nearly five-and-a-half hour exercise in unabashed and unapologetic nostalgia, 80s variety. Modern English slipped in a couple of songs from its new album, ‘1 2 3 4,’ but mostly the eight acts from the day joyfully led a crowd of 6,000 or so down an aural memory lane of enduring hits from four decades ago. And if there was any PTSD about the fashion choices of that era, it was shed as many of those at Meadow Brook brought out their garishly colorful garb and face make-up to add to the time capsule feel of the night. ‘I hope it looks and feels and sounds the same,’ Bow Wow Wow’s Annabella Lwin told the crowd.”
--Gary Graff, The Oakland Press, 7/27/24
“Totally Tubular Festival at the Santa Barbara Bowl Was a Feast Full of Fun for the Fifty-Something Set” –Leslie Dinaberg, Santa Barbara Independent, 7/3/24
“The Totally Tubular Festival at the YouTube Theatre was a blast from the past, with a lineup of '80s acts that brought back memories of neon colors and big hair. The audience was treated to a night of pure nostalgia and fun, with standing ovations and sing-alongs.” –L. Paul Mann, Grateful Web, 7/9/24
“The Fox Theater transformed into a neon-drenched time machine this past Sunday, as the Totally Tubular Festival crashed into Oakland like a tidal wave of '80s nostalgia. With a surprisingly early 5:30 pm kickoff, the festival crammed eight iconic acts into one glorious night of '80's (synth) pop ecstasy. The lineup read like a ‘Who's Who’ of MTV's golden era, featuring the likes of Modern English (still promising to melt with you), Men Without Hats (safety dance, anyone?), and Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey (holding out for a hero in his own right). But for us, the cherry on top of this retro sundae was none other than the mad scientist of synthpop himself, Thomas Dolby.”
–Kevin Keating, SF Bay Area Concerts, 7/1/24
“The Totally Tubular Festival really connected with its audience at The Anthem. Most of us in attendance readily recalled the halcyon days of Live Aid, and the invocation of anniversaries related to the date put us in a receptive mood for an evening of timeless music. Across the seven acts, there was a great deal of variety while everyone at least touched upon the dominant “new wave” label of the day. With Thomas Dolby, Tom Bailey, and Ivan Doroschuk alone, the festival also was bursting with personality.”
--Mickey McCarter, ParklifeDC, 7/18/24
“Every once in a while we all wish we could relive a certain moment in time, good or bad. The Totally Tubular Festival at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport was a welcome blast from the past, turning an ordinary hot summer day into an unforgettable ’80s extravaganza! With the venue lights emulating pink and blue neon lights and vintage tunes blaring, the amphitheater transformed into a time machine, whisking us back to an era of big hair, synth-pop, and infectious energy.”
--Jessie Fuentes, Finding Connecticut, 7/22/24
