Phoenix Share New Song "Identical" From Upcoming Sofia Coppola Film 'On The Rocks'

PHOENIX“Identical”

Phoenix have shared new track “Identical” out now on Loyaute/Glassnote Records. This is the band’s first release since 2017’s critically acclaimed album Ti Amo. The song can also be heard in the trailer released today for the upcoming Apple Original Films and A24 release On The Rocks, written and directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. Faced with sudden doubts about her marriage, a young New York mother (Jones) teams up with her larger-than-life playboy father (Murray) to tail her husband (Wayans) in this bittersweet comedy that will open in theaters and on Apple TV+ this October.
In addition to contributing “Identical” to the end credits of the film, Phoenix have written the score and assembled its soundtrack. This is their fifth cinematic collaboration with Coppola since she first used their song “Too Young” in Lost In Translation.
The band have shared an accompanying video for the track directed by Roman Coppola, who previously helmed videos for their songs “Funky Squaredance,” “Long Distance Call,” and “Everything Is Everything.”
Both the song and the video are dedicated to the band’s dear friend and collaborator Philippe Zdar, who passed away last year.

Cabaret Voltaire Announces First New Album in 20+ Years; Listen to "Vasto"

CABARET VOLTAIRE

ANNOUNCES FIRST NEW ALBUM IN OVER 20 YEARS

SHADOW OF FEAR
OUT NOVEMBER 20

LISTEN TO “VASTO”
CABARET VOLTAIRE have announced the first new album release in over 20 years.  Shadow Of Fear  is set for release November 20 via Mute.

Listen to “Vasto,” the first taste of what to expect from the new album, here.
Pre-order Shadow of Feahere.

Shadow Of Fear is Cabaret Voltaire’s first release with Richard H Kirk as the sole member of the band and the result is an album that defies categorization. The tone and personality of Cabaret Voltaire is ingrained into its core as it dances across techno, dub, house, 1970s Kosmische, and general esoteric explorations coupled with mangled vocal samples. It’s a voyage through the history of electronic music that arrives at a new destination.

Cabaret Voltaire has always been a group ahead of their time, even prescient at times, and this album carries on that evolution. “The album was finished just as all the weirdness was starting to kick in,” Kirk says. Shadow Of Fear feels like a strangely appropriate title. The current situation didn't have much of an influence on what I was doing - all the vocal content was already in place before the panic set in - but maybe due to my nature of being a bit paranoid there are hints in there about stuff going a bit weird and capturing the current state of affairs.” Although, as with a lot of Kirk’s work, concrete meaning and narrative is ripe for interpretation rather than being spelled out. “Surrealism has always been really important to Cabaret Voltaire,” says Kirk. “And that's still present too.”

The genesis of the new album was the 2014 Berlin Atonal festival where Kirk played the first show on his own as Cabaret Voltaire. This began a new era for the pioneering Sheffield outfit whose influence across electronic, post-punk, and industrial music remains an untouchable one today. Kirk explains “The mission statement from the off was no nostalgia. Normal rules do not apply. Something for the 21st Century. No old material.”

Kirk has since gone on to perform at festivals and concerts across Europe, shaping the sound of Cabaret Voltaire’s future. “I started developing tracks specifically for live performance,” he says. “Stuff that was quite stripped back and crude. Every time I would visit a new place to perform, I would write something fresh.”

Recorded at the latest location of Western Works, the studio used throughout Cabaret Voltaire’s history, Kirk toyed with upgrading his old set up to digital but after a computer failure he decided to retain his original equipment. “Making this album reminded me a bit of the old days with Cabaret Voltaire because there wasn't that much equipment, so you really had to use your imagination.”

That’s as far as the comparisons to olden days Cabaret Voltaire go. This is new music for a new era. “It's nice that people appreciate what you've done in the past,” says Kirk. “But it's a dangerous place to dwell.”

NOTES TO EDITOR:
Originally active between 1973-1994, Cabaret Voltaire featured Chris Watson until 1981 and Stephen Mallinder until 1994. The group was inactive for 20 years until – with Kirk as the sole remaining member – the 2014 performance at Berlin’s Atonal festival.

August 19, 2020—Last night, critically acclaimed artist Regina Spektor performed her song “Prisoners” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Watch the performance via the show’s #PLAYATHOME series HERE.Accompanied by tap dancer and choreographer Caleb Teicher and directed by Daniel Ryan, the performance was filmed right after Spektor’s much-lauded Broadway run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater during the summer of 2019. Regina Spektor: Live on Broadway ran for five nights and was hailed as “both whimsical and thunderous” by The Daily Beast.“Prisoners” first appeared on Spektor’s self-released album Songs, recorded in 2002 by Joe  Mendelson . He recorded Spektor for free on Christmas Day when no one was using the studio; she played all the songs she had written throughout the year and together they picked 12 tracks for the album.“When I did my solo piano tour, I revisited some of the older songs. While dreaming up fun things for the Broadway shows I invited Caleb, who is brilliant at using tap as percussion, to check out ‘Prisoners,’” Spektor explains, “After the shows, we filmed the song at Roulette in Brooklyn, just to have a memory of that wonderful moment. Little did we know that being alone in a theater and on opposite sides of the stage would be where the world was heading. I await the day we can all dance and perform together- but for now I’m so glad to share this performance during a time I’ve been missing playing music for people.”Last year, Spektor’s original song “One Little Soldier” was featured in the motion picture Bombshell, going on to win two awards at the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. Spektor’s most recent album, 2016’s Remember Us To Life, has been the subject of extensive critical praise from the likes of NPR, Entertainment WeeklyNew York MagazinePeople and many more.Born in the Soviet Union, Spektor first saw commercial success with the gold-certified LP Begin to Hope which includes singles “On the Radio” and “Better,” as well as “Fidelity” which climbed the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Spektor’s fifth album, Far (2009), and sixth album, What We Saw From the Cheap Seats (2012), both debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Involved in projects spanning music, theatre, TV and film, Spektor’s work has appeared on the Hamilton Mixtape and Netflix’s hit show “Orange Is The New Black,” as well as the Oscar-winning film Bombshell.

THOU and EMMA RUTH RUNDLE announce collaborative album 'May Our Chambers Be Full' on Sacred Bones

THOU ANNOUNCE COLLABORATIVE ALBUM WITH EMMA RUTH RUNDLE:MAY OUR CHAMBERS BE FULL OUT OCTOBER 30 ON SACRED BONES
RELEASE LEAD SINGLE “ANCESTRAL RECALLAlbum Artwork | Photo By Craig Mulcahy
Today, Thou announce their collaborative album with Emma Ruth Rundle (appearing courtesy of Sargent House), May Our Chambers Be Full which sees its release October 30 via Sacred Bones. Its monolithic lead single, “Ancestral Recall” exemplifies the spirit of the collaboration. “It’s an easy marriage of our styles that was truly enhanced by everyone’s input during the arrangement process," Thou guitarist Andy Gibbs explains. “When I first wrote the main two riffs (the first one being an homage to A Perfect Circle’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’), I didn’t know if it would fit with the vibe we were pursuing because it didn’t sound “Thou-y” enough nor did it sound like something Emma would normally put on a record. Ultimately, I realized how important that trait is; this record is all about exploring territory we wouldn’t usually explore with our own records.”
Emma adds, “Andy originally wrote the riffs and I believe I referred to it as the ‘Guitar Hero’ jam -- it was hard for me to keep up and I felt like I was doing an obstacle course (in the best way). Because of the differences in our guitar tunings, it was difficult for me to match the rest exactly and I ended up coming with a single note passage to play over the most difficult section. For me this was a good example of the collaboration and that I was able to express my style despite my limitations in a way that added to Andy’s riff. Working with him on guitars was a challenge, but most rewarding, and I feel proud of our child.”
LISTEN & SHARE "ANCESTRAL RECALL": YOUTUBEBANDCAMPSPOTIFYAPPLE Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - Ancestral Recall (Official Audio) While their solo material seems on its face to be quite disparate, both prolific groups have spent their lauded careers lurking at the outer boundaries of heavy scenes, each having more in common with DIY punk and its spiritual successor, grunge. The debut straddles a similar, very fine line both musically and thematically. While Emma’s standard fare is a blend of post-rock-infused folk music, and Thou is typically known for its downtuned, doomy sludge, the conjoining of the two artists has created a record more in the vein of the early ’90s Seattle sound and later ’90s episodes of Alternative Nation, while still retaining much of the artists’ core identities.
Lyrically, May Our Chambers Be Full is a marriage of mental trauma, existential crises, and the ecstatic tradition of the expressionist dance movement. “Excessive sorrow laughs. Excessive joy weeps.” Melodic, melancholic, heavy, visceral.
The visual art accompanying this work was created in collaboration with preeminent New Orleans photographer Craig Mulcahy. The faceless, genderless models are meant to emphasize this pervasive state of ambiguity and emotional vacillation, the images falling somewhere between modern high fashion and classical Renaissance.

No Joy shares "Dream Rats" music video, "Motherhood" is out Friday & album release show via Baby's TV

No Joy shares "Dream Rats" music video, Motherhood is out Friday

Album release show Friday at 8pm EST via Baby TV

VIDEO - "Dream Rats" (feat. Alissa White-Gluz) -
YouTube

Today No Joy releases the official music video for “Dream Rats” from their forthcoming album Motherhood which is out this Friday. Also this Friday No Joy plays a full band livestream / album release show via Baby TV at 8pm EST.

The video and track features frontperson and principal songwriter Jasamine White-Gluz’s sister, Alissa, of deathcore supergroup Arch Enemy.

The video also features an amazing duck named Success who is somewhat of a local celebrity in Montreal. The White-Gluz sisters want to take this opportunity to spotlight the Le Nichoir Wild Bird Rehabilitation Centre, a non-profit organization located in Hudson, Quebec. Their mission is to conserve wild birds as part of our natural heritage. Donate and learn more here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charit...

“Dream Rats” crams in synth choir, blast beats, cowboy leads, and signal-jammed shredding into a radio-friendly three and a half minutes. Motherhood, is out on August 21st via Joyful Noise / Hand Drawn Dracula.

Watch/Share: No Joy - “Dream Rats"

Speaking on the track Jasamine White-Gluz says, “I've never collaborated musically with my sister before. When we were kids we would sing and play music together but as we've both become adults and touring musicians we've never had a chance to work together. This is the heaviest song on this record so it felt fitting to have her on there. There is something special about her being on this album, specifically because it's an exploration of family and motherhood."

For No Joy’s first full length in five years, Jasamine White-Gluz took what she learned from
synthesis, reincorporated guitars, and produced an album that is not a departure from No Joy’s early shoegaze, but a stylistically omnivorous expansion that ekes into trip hop, trance and nu-metal. Motherhood is the culmination of years composing outside of her comfort zone, and a return to DIY recording with a leveled-up expertise in production.

TEMPESST Shares Third Single "High On My Own"

TEMPESSTRELEASE NEW SINGLE “HIGH ON MY OWN”
DEBUT ALBUM MUST BE A DREAM OUT SEPTEMBER 30 VIA PONY RECORDINGSPhoto by Gyorgy LaszloBlissful psych-pop”Noisey / VICE
“A masterpiece of swirling, tidal music”The Line Of Best Fit
“An adorable psych-pop jewel”Clash Magazine
"(‘On The Run’) dips into the well of groovy throwback psych rock, but nails the sound with some great vocals and absolutely nailing the hell out of the sound that they’re striving for." We All Want Someone To Shout For
“A storm of psych-tinged, swirling instruments”DIY Magazine
“‘On The Run’ is a decidedly Brit Pop-take on 60s and 70s psych rock centered around shimmering and reverb drenched guitars, layered vocal harmonies, an enormous hook and Toma Benjamin’s serpentine-like vocals.” The Joy Of Violent MovementLondon via Australia folk/psych rockers Tempesst have released the third single, “High On My Own,” which is off their upcoming debut album Must Be A Dream, out September 30 (Pony Recordings).
Exploring the band’s humble beginnings in a small coastal town in Queensland Australia, “High On My Own” juxtaposes their comparatively “grown up” peers versus their own lives, with the track’s nuanced lyrics touching upon the search for meaning in life, ageing and ultimately finding your own way. Speaking on the track, singer Toma Banjanin said: “ “I grew up near Noosa, a small beach town in Australia. In my town, a 30 year old man was typically a family man, with a normal job, a mortgage etc. The kind of guy who had a balanced life and what seemed to be contentment as a byproduct. These guys had beliefs, they lived by a code that guided each decision with a brand of certainty that I envy and in my subconscious, this archetype framed the kind of firm identity one should expect to acquire by age 30. A couple of decades on, here I am, 30, still wandering, without the beliefs or certainty I expected to have.”
Kickstarting with a driving drumbeat, throbbing electronics and psychedelic guitar motifs, “High On My Own” then opens up into its chorus; an ascending half speed section that reveals a shimmering group vocal and angelic synths. “We wanted to push the listener into a single direction and then pull the rug out from under them – it’s very representative of the lyrics,” Toma added.LISTEN TO “HIGH ON MY OWN” HERE
PRE-ORDER MUST BE A DREAM HERE“High On My Own” follows “Mushroom Cloud” which among other places landed on NPR’s NMF playlist. Previous to that Tempesstt shared “On The Run.”
Consisting of Sunshine Coast, Australia born twin brothers Toma (vocals, guitars) and Andy Banjanin (drums); the band is rounded out by fellow Australian’s Kane Reynolds (keys) and Blake Misipeka (bass), and Swiss/American guitarist Eric Weber. Now all residing in London where Must Be A Dream was written and recorded, Tempesst have become well known for their sweeping, psych-touched indie rock - touring previously with the likes of Pond, The Temper Trap, Albert Hammond Jr, Jet and widely lauded by the likes of Lauren Laverne (BBC 6Music), Jack Saunders (BBC R1), Noisey, DIY Magazine, Clash Magazine, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Beats Per Minute and more.
Produced by longstanding collaborator Elliot Heinrich, and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Temples, Yak, Sorry), Must Be A Dream came together at the band’s very own Pony Studios, a studio space that Tempesst built themselves in Hackney, East London. A paradox of complexity and musical prowess shrouded beneath deceivingly simple pop melodies, Must Be A Dream comprises ten tracks of psychedelic pop grandiosity, combining the classic teachings of Laurel Canyon-esque folk harmonisation with bombastic sensibilities found in the works of Love, ELO, Pink Floyd, Wings and more. The album is a dense, sun-kissed record that explores themes of identity, purpose, ageing, love, loss, substance abuse, the death of loved ones and remembering the beauty beneath it all.

GROOVE ARMADA reveal details of their first album in 10 years - 'Edge Of The Horizon'

GROOVE ARMADA REVEAL DETAILS OF THEIR FIRST ALBUM IN 10 YEARS ‘EDGE OF THE HORIZON’ RELEASED OCTOBER 2ND VIA BMG NEW SINGLE ‘LOVER 4 NOW’ FEAT. TODD EDWARDS IS OUT TODAY LISTEN TO ‘LOVER 4 NOW’ HEREPRE-ORDER ‘EDGE OF THE HORIZON’ HEREAfter a ten year spell back in the house underground, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato have finally unveiled the details of a fully-fledged new Groove Armada LP.  The eleven-track ‘Edge Of The Horizon’ will be released on October 2nd via BMG. As always with GA it’s a melting pot of styles,  but in contrast to the guitar-laden sound of their last album, the Grammy-nominated “Black Light”, the uniting stylistic thread here lies somewhere between Hall & Oates, Prince and Roxy Music. ‘Edge Of The Horizon’ features a whole range of vocal talent,  from friends and neighbors to the godfather of UK Garage Todd Edwards who appears on ‘Lover 4 Now’, out today. A summer anthem of positivity, love, and togetherness, Todd’s signature vocals shimmer above a straight-ahead italo-disco groove.  It was made with a moment in mind. “Ibiza. Poolside at Pikes, that time of the evening when day becomes night and anything seems possible”. With the band no longer geographically in the same place, the making of ‘Edge of the Horizon’ involved Andy and Tom coming together for a series of intense studio sessions. Says Cato:“During those studio days, the rest of the world shuts down. There’s an intensity, anyone looking in might say madness, that kicks in when we’re totally lost amongst the instruments, synths, and records day and night. But that shared, unspoken feeling that comes when we both know we’ve got it right cuts through as clear as ever.” Groove Armada’s flair for blending electro elements with the energy of a live band remains at the heart of the record. In fact, the foundations of this album are the memories of the 15 years they spent on the road playing dance music live. The legendary GA tour bus parties had a strong dose of yacht rock on the playlist. ‘Holding Strong’ is an unashamed salute to the best of those searing emotional highs of the 80s. NYCs She Keeps Bees heads up the title track, born out of a groove left on the cutting room floor during the chaotic Black Light sessions.  Chicago house music icon Paris Brightledge deploys his iconic tones on two tracks, and Empire Of The Sun and Pnau’s Nick Littlemore features on the lockdown anthem, ‘Get Out on the Dancefloor’.  With three UK Top 10 hits, three Grammy nominations, and a succession of seminal classics under their belt, Groove Armada is one of the most influential forces in dance music. The next chapter in Groove Armada history begins with the October release of ‘Edge of the Horizon’ and continues when these tunes are transformed into live dance music in that way that only GA can. EDGE OF THE HORIZON // OCTOBER 2ND 2020PRE-ORDER LINK HERE   TRACKLIST Get Out On The Dancefloor (feat. Juanita Stein releases new single from upcoming album 'Snapshot'

JUANITA STEIN 'THE MAVERICKS' NEW SINGLE FROM THE UPCOMING LP 'SNAPSHOT' OUT ON 2ND OCTOBER VIA NUDE RECORDS STREAM IT HERE AND ON SOUNDCLOUD PRE-ORDER/PRE-SAVE ALBUM HERE    Juanita Stein has released a new song, ‘The Mavericks’, from her upcoming third album, ‘Snapshot', which is set for release via Nude Records on 2nd October in all formats. ‘The Mavericks’ follows the recent release of the LP’s title track, which picked up early support from the likes of MojoClash and 6 Music for Brighton-based, Australian songwriter, who first became known for her work as singer and guitarist in Howling Bells. The song carries on the theme that runs throughout the album, which was recorded following the sudden loss of Stein’s father in 2019.  As Juanita explains: ’’The Mavericks’ is a song that came together over a few years. The first half I’d already had written, the lyrics came in one blessed burst of lyrical expression, then I stashed it away, not knowing quite what to do with it. I was later able to complete it, whilst writing the songs for ‘Snapshot’. With the razor-edged perspective loss can bring, finding the right words became a lot easier for me. Sonically and lyrically, I wanted the song to rise and fall, swell and intensify, mirroring the cyclical nature of life.”   LISTEN TO 'THE MAVERICKS' HERE AND ON SOUNDCLOUD  About the album: It feels fundamental to understanding the devastation and eerie silence thrust upon us after his sudden death,” begins the Brighton-based, Australian songwriter Juanita Stein, discussing the moment of great sadness that inspired her new record. “It was a daunting task to sum up the life of one man such as my father. He was endlessly inspiring, charming, deeply talented and passionately spiritual. He admirably, and at times frustratingly, carried the torch for his own musical career until the very end.” It’s within this processing of a life well-lived and attempting to wrestle with the tides of her own grief, that what would become the album began to ebb and flow out of Stein, who first became known for her work as singer and guitarist in Howling Bells. “After I felt I had enough songs,” Juanita explains, “I was moved to reach out to producer Ben Hillier, who I’d been a fan of since hearing records he made with Clinic, Elbow ad Doves to see if he might be interested in making this album with me.” Unlike her first two solo albums, “America” (2017) and “Until The Lights Fade” (2018), which were made in just a few weeks and both at studios in the US, ‘Snapshot’ was recorded over the course of eight months at Agricultural Audio, not far from Juanita’s home. As she says, “This allowed me the time and distance I so craved. Ben was deeply concerned with allowing the songs to breathe and to take the right shape. We laid down all the defining guitar parts and vocals which were then beds for the band to come in and lay their parts on.” As the record began to take shape, Juanita “called on my brother, Joel Stein, (guitarist in Howling Bells) to play lead guitar, I knew only he could harness the exact frenzied energy needed for the songs. Both he and I were both going through something pretty momentous and I wanted to shift that energy into the music. Evan Jenkins on drums alternated between freeform and thunderous on some tracks, light and barely-there on others. Jimi Wheelwright on bass held it all together beautifully.” The result is a record that feels crafted from a life lived as much as it was clearly excavated from loss. It’s a record that strives to capture more than a passing moment and succeeds in laying its hands on something bigger than most of us will ever fully understand.  WATCH 'SNAPSHOT' VIDEO HERE  PRE-ORDER/PRE-SAVE ALBUM HERE  www.juanitastein.com www.facebook.com/msjuanitasteinwww.twitter.com/msjuanitasteinwww.instagram.com/msjuanitasteinwww.nuderecordlabel.com

I did the artwork a while back, and the title just popped into my head. I’ve really been missing making music with my band. On record or live, it’s always an adventure,” Ritter notes. “I wrote ‘Time Is Wasting’ for a movie. The song didn’t get used but I ended up thinking about it again as COVID lockdown stretched away in front of us. The rest of the songs soon fell into place behind it. There is a lot of time and distance and farewell on these recordings. ‘Miles Away’ is all about physical and emotional distance, while ‘Brothers In Arms,’ one of my favorite Mark Knopfler songs, is a pathos-filled, Shakespearian rumination on battle and memory. ‘Haunt’ and ‘Waiting on You’ were both recorded with the Royal City Band during the Gathering sessions, and ‘Heaven Knows’ features the mighty Josh Kaufman on slide guitar. I initially wrote ‘Be of Good Heart’ for Joan Baez’s final album, but I loved it so much that I wanted to do a recording with my band as well. Finally, ‘Lawrence, Kansas,’ which was recorded live in Lawrence, Kansas, is one of my earlies compositions. I feel lucky to work with musicians and play for audiences who can continue to breathe new life into even my oldest songs,” he furthers. In response to COVID-19, Ritter’s weekly “Silo Sessions” livestream performance series has generated over $150,000 to date for various charities including Foodbank NYCWinNYC and Feeding America. Watch the weekly solo acoustic series, which has been streamed over 500,000 times, HERE.Over the course of his career Ritter has released ten full-length albums including 2019’s
Fever Breaks, which was produced by Jason Isbell and features Amanda Shires along with Isbell’s band, the 400 Unit. Released to widespread acclaim, the album debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Americana/ Folk Albums Chart, #5 on Independent Albums Chart, #14 on Top Current Albums Chart and appeared on the Billboard 200Rolling Stone raved, “It’s classic Ritter on Muscle Shoals-bred steroids,” while the Associated Press heralded, “There have been plenty of highlights in Ritter’s nearly 20-year recording career but it’s the intensity of the music and imagery that makes Fever Breaks an especially engaging outing.”In 2015 Ritter began a close collaboration with Bob Weir and went on to write or co-write many of the 12 songs on Weir’s acclaimed 2016 solo album, Blue Mountain. Pitchfork called the album “quietly adventurous, wise, and a welcome late-career turn,” while Entertainment Weekly described it as “a moving group of tunes worthy of any campfire.”In addition to his work as a musician, Ritter made his debut as a published author in 2011 with his novel Bright’s Passage (Dial Press/Random House), which was a national best-seller. Stephen King wrote in The New York Times Book Review that Bright’s Passage “shines with a
compressed lyricism that recalls Ray Bradbury in his prime…This is the work of a gifted novelist.”

‘WEIRDO’ , a defiant pop album written over the course of a year spent sofa-surfing by Scottish artist Carla J Easton (TeenCanteen), is set to be released on August 28th on Olive Grove Records.

Following on from the critically acclaimed  ‘Impossible Stuff’ , which was shortlisted for Scottish Album of The Year 2019, Easton set to work writing and recording ‘WEIRDO’ with the help of Scott Paterson (Sons and Daughters) in CHVRCHES old basement studio in Glasgow. The pair met and became friends whilst playing in the live band for The Vaselines 2019 tour and began writing together after playing at The Boaty Weekender by Belle and Sebastian – a festival on a cruise ship around the Mediterranean.

Collaboration is a key feature of Easton’s work, the album features appearances from Honeyblood’s Stina Tweeddale, Micah Erenberg and Dave Hook (Solareye, Stanley Odd), though the result is always a sound that is uniquely Easton’s own. These are songs you’ll hear one day and still be humming a week later. Dreamy, lush and inescapable.
Title-track  ‘WEIRDO’  sees Easton team up with Scottish powerhouse Honeyblood for an anthemic ode to weirdness.  “I've often been told I am weird – like that's a derogatory word,” says Easton.  “Let's be clear – normal doesn't exist. The things that make me weird are the things that make me, me.” WEIRDO melodically swirls over big beats and bassy synths, Easton a “cherry bomb exploding in a messy situation” and realising she can fly away. The title-track neatly sums up many of the album’s key themes. This is a pop record for misfits and with ‘WEIRDO’, the self-proclaimed ‘DIY Princess of Pop’ is stepping up to claim her throne.
