It's been eleven years since the last Allo Darlin’ album, the Anglo-Australian indiepop quartet are finally back with a new record Bright Nights. The album is due July 11 on Slumberland (USA) and on Fika Recordings (UK) ahead of live UK dates in October.

Out today is the new single “My Love Will Bring You Home," the second track to be taken from the forthcoming album following April’s rapturously received “Tricky Questions."

On their first new material in a decade, Anglo-Australian indiepop quartet Allo Darlin’ return with their upcoming album Bright Nights in July 2025 and marking the return of their smart, beautiful pop music, with lyrics that resonate with experience and melodies that chime, echo and soar.

Missing each other and the music they made together, Allo Darlin’ started having group Zoom calls during the early days of the pandemic, and decided that when the pandemic was over, they would become a band again. True to their word, in early 2023, the band announced that they would play a couple of shows in October of that year in the UK, and the fan response was truly overwhelming. Tickets sold out in minutes, with fans traveling from all over the world, and the band had to upgrade their London show to a venue twice the size of the original. It seemed like their fans had missed Allo Darlin’ as much as they had missed each other.

Bright Nights follows the emotional tides of the preceding ten years: “It’s an album from the heart, dealing with themes of love, birth and death, which are things we reflect more on than we did when we made our first album. I would hope that the album sounds timeless and joyous, at other times reflective and emotional” says songwriter and vocalist Elizabeth Morris Innset.

Drawing inspiration from a mix of classic pop, folk and country, Bright Nights picks up where Allo Darlin’ left off with the warmth of 2014’s We Come From The Same Place, and recalls the confident and sophisticated sound of their second album, Europe. “When I listen to it I think of the desert, but I can see the sea. The sweet sounds of summer’s bright nights in the Northern hemisphere, but an awareness that winter will one day return”.

While Bright Nights isn’t a country album, the timelessness of folk and country influences weave throughout the record. "My Love Will Bring You Home" might be written about Elizabeth’s young daughters, but it’s a mother’s love song, disguised as a country love song. “It also makes me feel a connection to the place I come from, which is a country town in Queensland, Australia - if I think of myself as a country singer, it makes more sense that I come from Rockhampton.”

TOUR DATES

October 7 - Nottingham, Old Cold Store
October 9 - London, EartH Hall
October 10 - Glasgow, Stereo
October 11 - Manchester, Band On The Wall

Allo Darlin' were formed in 2008 after Australian Elizabeth Morris arrived in London and bought a ukulele from the Duke of Uke shop in Shoreditch. Like a whole host of Australian musicians before her, Morris had headed to London to realise her musical ambitions, a young woman with the small instrument in the big city with even bigger ideas.  Once there happenstance, chance encounters and a Bruce Springsteen cover for a compilation would all conspire to create the crack squad that has endured, Morris being joined by fellow Brisbanite Bill Botting and the British duo of Michael Collins and Paul Rains.

From its first line (“Will you go out with me tonight, lose it on a disco floor?”) the self-titled début the foursome released in 2010 fizzed with the effervescent, intoxicating energy and excitement of the opportunities and experiences it offered. From frosty night buses through to fiscal inadequacy and everything in between, it was an album which presented the city as a blank canvas where everything was fair game for romanticising and celebrating, and a world where most of life's tribulations could be solved with the warm embrace of a loved one. Fresh, bright and unashamedly hopeful and idealistic, blissful exuberance ran through it like the sound of a band in love with being in a band.

Writing in his 1200 word essay on the album for Australia's The Monthly (later featuring in his writing compilation Ten Rules Of Rock And Roll), former Go-Between Robert Forster suggested that the band “now have doors open before them”. Thus follow-up Europe could be viewed as the album The Go-Betweens dared them to make, culminating in the sparkling pop perfection (and throwback to Morris' native Queensland) of lead single 'Capricornia'. Their sophomore effort simultaneously looked at the Europe of her present alongside the Australia of her past, offering a stunning reflection on belonging and sense of place and a band at their most dazzlingly technicolour that built on the eagerness and immediacy of the debut with contemplation, sophistication and ambition.

Successor, 2014’s We Come From The Same Place dwelt on belonging in terms of new beginnings and documented Morris' journey into a new chapter in her life, resulting in an album that saw her flit between the uncertainty of starting anew and post-resettlement confidence.

Allo Darlin's songs work because, to borrow from Don Draper's Kodak Carousel pitch in Mad Men, they take us to a place where we feel loved. Emotional trust falls, they often take us to parts of ourselves we've either suppressed or have yet to discover and then are always there to catch us if and when we get there.

Praise for Allo Darlin':

"Breezy rom-pop brilliance." 8/10, -NME

"Classic indie pop... doesn't rewrite the formula for wistful bedsit charm as much as show that it can still be carried out masterfully." -Pitchfork

"A masterclass of modern cult pop." -The Guardian

"Terrific, witty and heartfelt, like a less moody Belle & Sebastian." -The New York Times

Newcastle's Ruth Lyon mesmerises on new single 'Perfect' | Debut album 'Poems & Non-Fiction' out 13th June

Newcastle’s Ruth Lyon unpacks perfectionism’s dark side on mesmerising new single 'Perfect'

(7th May) Newcastle indie-folk singer-songwriter Ruth Lyon today releases her new single ‘Perfect’. Released today alongside a new video directed by Sel Maclean, 'Perfect' is the latest compelling glimpse of Lyon's forthcoming debut album 'Poems & Non-Fiction' - out 13th June on Pink Lane Records and available to pre-order hereThe track follows earlier singles ‘Books’ and ‘Wickerman’.

Produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding), 'Poems & Non-Fiction' draws on influences from Adrienne Lenker, Fiona Apple, and Moondog, combining analogue textures and angular indie-folk sensibilities. Lyon’s songwriting gives as much weight to silence as to sound, with poetic nuance and muscular understatement. Her voice floats between the abstract, the archetypal, and raw vulnerability, inviting the listener to both reach out and dig deep.

New single ‘Perfect’ is the album’s most pop-adjacent moment: a sharp indie-pop that critiques the cult of curated living. The sardonic hook: “Isn’t it all so perfect / Sundays were made for worship”, sits uneasily against Lyon’s deadpan admission: “my skin is crawling / I want to shout.” As the production closes in during the middle eight, her voice sounds buried beneath the surface: “I can’t leave.”

On the release of 'Perfect', Ruth said:

“It’s about how modern life traps us in a toxic pursuit of perfection – we’re all celebrities of our own life, worshipping at the altar of our egos. It’s kind of infected us all, I think. The perfect mother, the perfect wife, the perfect health and a perfect body flaunting perfect hair/skin/tits/bum blah blah blah.”

Weaving deeply evocative narratives and potent meditations, with an artistry that balances delicacy and strength, 'Poems & Non-Fiction' is a major waymark for Ruth Lyon. Forged by her experiences as a disabled woman and a life-long sense of otherness, she explores the beautiful mess of existence, challenges social norms and ignites a journey towards self-acceptance, empowerment and perhaps most importantly, hope. “I have surprised myself with the raw honesty in these songs and I hope these stories inspire healing and growth,” Ruth says.

Fresh from an extensive European touring run with Zaho de Sagazan, along with a triumphant headline tour of her own in March of this year, Lyon’s recent accolades also include performances at SXSW, The Great Escape, Glastonbury, and New York City Hall, where she received the prestigious Danny Award. She was recently named one of the UK’s 100 most influential disabled people on the Power 100 list and awarded the flagship PPL Momentum Grant.

Acclaim for Lyon’s recent releases has come from all corners of UK music press and radio. BBC 6 Music’s Emily Pilbeam praised her “beautiful and quite distinctive voice… it’s got a bit of a Kate Bush vibe… genuinely a really brilliant track,” while Wonderland called her “a force to be reckoned with.” She’s been championed as a “Future Artist” by BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, and spotlighted by CLASH MagazineThe Line of Best FitConsequence, and Secret Meeting, who wrote: “Lyon is a fitting star for a city that shines brighter than most.”

With 'Poems & Non-Fiction', she cements her place as one of the most distinct and fearless voices in contemporary music.

Ruth Lyon's debut album 'Poems & Non-Fiction' is out 13th June on Pink Lane Records. Ruth Lyon embarks on an in-store tour in June to mark the release of the album. New single 'Perfect' is out now.

Nicolas Bougaïeff's New EP 'Prime Funktion' Is Out Today On NovaMute

NICOLAS BOUGAÏEFF

NEW EP PRIME FUNKTION
OUT TODAY ON NOVAMUTE

Today Berlin-based Nicolas Bougaïeff follows up February’s Primal Extensions EP with Prime Funktion, the second installment of his Prime EP series for NovaMute.

Expanding on his ongoing exploration of prime rhythms and polytemporality, Bougaïeff continues to push the boundaries of techno with intricate rhythmic frameworks and hypnotic, high-intensity club cuts.

He kicks off this latest offering with “Prime,” a bleeping, twisted and trippy late-night techno cut built around a quintuplet groove and 7:6 synth structures. The fantastic “Funktion” is another potent, menacing track, where a shadowy synth loop repeats over hefty kicks in a dystopian fashion, driven by prime rhythmic divisions that create tension and unpredictability. “Nucleus” is a hypnotic piece rolling on thudding kicks and tumbling percussive lines dancing over the drums while its rational intonation scale, tuned around the 17th harmonic, brings a microtonal depth to the melodies. Last but not least, “Womb” contrasts ever-evolving melodic patterns ringing down over lurching drums and unresolved loops, creating a dynamic interplay between chaos and calm. The artwork mirrors the EP’s approach, visualizing prime rhythms as layered circular structures, where individual patterns remain independent yet momentarily align, capturing the tension between freedom and synchronisation that defines the Prime series.

Nicolas Bougaïeff’s Prime Funktion EP once again showcases his unmatched mastery of polyrhythm, with the EP already receiving early support from Charlotte De Witte, Dubfire, Boris, Laurent Garnier, and Elisa Bee

Drawing from his PhD in minimal techno and decades of experience, Bougaïeff continues his quest to expand the rhythmic possibilities of electronic music. The Prime series introduces listeners to prime rhythms, polyrhythms derived from prime number ratios that challenge traditional binary subdivisions, alongside his pivot mixing techniques, which allow seamless tempo integration. This explores what Bougaïeff calls “temporal liberation,” where intricate rhythms both literally break the constraints of traditional techno and serve as a symbolic metaphor for broader notions of personal, social and metaphysical freedom.

Beyond his releases on labels such as Mute and NovaMute, Bougaïeff co-founded Liine, creators of the Lemur music app, famously used aboard the International Space Station. He founded the Berlin Academy of Electronic Music and reaches a global audience through his online tutorials where he explains innovative production techniques. His videos on pivot mixing have gained notable recognition among industry peers.

Nicolas Bougaïeff’s Prime Funktion is released on NovaMute today.

FIONA APPLE RELEASES “PRETRIAL (LET HER GO HOME)” IN SUPPORT OF MOTHERS AFFECTED BY THE BROKEN CASH-BAIL SYSTEM

FIONA APPLE RELEASES “PRETRIAL (LET HER GO HOME)” SONG AND VIDEO IN SUPPORT OF MOTHERS AFFECTED BY THE BROKEN CASH-BAIL SYSTEM

(Los Angeles, CA — May 7, 2025) Today, Fiona Apple releases “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home),” an intensely moving new song that plainly and powerfully illustrates the horrifying effects of our cash-bail system on women, girls, and — especially — Black mothers. Created in support of the Free Black Mamas DMV initiative, the release comes with a video incorporating photos and footage shared by women who have survived pretrial detention. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

You can also visit the Let Her Go Home website HERE, donate directly to the cause HERE, learn more about Free Black Mamas DMV HERE, and volunteer to “court watch” HERE — court-watching entails regular civilians observing and assessing court proceedings for fairness and efficacy, a movement energized by the idea that “injustice happens in empty courtrooms.”

“Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)” grew out of Apple’s recent years court-watching for CourtWatch PG. Through that work, she witnessed the all-too-common practice of mothers being separated from those who need them — thrown in jail despite a presumption of innocence simply because they couldn’t afford bail. Verse by verse, the song lays out a deepening devastation summed up by the heartbreaking lyric, “They wouldn’t let her go home and now there’s no more home.”

The “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)” video, produced by Zealous and Special Operations Studios, underscores the cold realities of the song, while showing thousands of images of everyday hope and freedom – warm photos and videos provided by women who’ve lived through pretrial detention, capturing family moments, personal accomplishments, and community bonding. But as Apple sings on — detailing a downward spiral of lost wages, unpaid rent, custody loss, and crushing shame — people and places begin glitching out and disappearing from the frame. The loss is visceral.

Apple shared her thoughts around the creation and release of “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)”:

"I was a court watcher for over two years. In that time, I took notes on thousands of bond hearings. Time and time again, I listened as people were taken away and put in jail, for no other reason than that they couldn’t afford to buy their way free. It was particularly hard to hear mothers and caretakers get taken away from the people who depend on them. For the past five years, I have been volunteering with the Free Black Mamas DMV bailout, and I have been lucky to be able to witness the stories of women who fought for and won their freedom with the tireless and loving support of the leadership. I hope that this song, and the images shared with me, can help to show what is at stake when someone is kept in pretrial detention. I give this song in friendship and respect to all who have experienced the pain of pretrial detention and to the women of the group’s leadership who have taught me so much and whom I truly love."

For more information on the anti-bail movement, additional stories and images from survivors, and a direct video message from Apple about the cause, visit LetHerGoHome.org.

About Fiona Apple

Uncompromising, unrepentant, and unrestrained, Fiona Apple first asserted herself as an iconoclastic voice for popular music and culture at just 17 years old with the release of her triple-platinum debut, Tidal. That monumental album included the platinum-selling single “Criminal,” which received a 1996 GRAMMY® Award in the category of Best Female Vocal Rock Performance — an auspicious and well-earned beginning. Since then, the eleven-time GRAMMY nominee has sold over 15 million records worldwide and built a critically acclaimed catalog, spanning the platinum-selling When the Pawn… (1999), the gold-certified Extraordinary Machine (2005), and The Idler Wheel… (2012), which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 — her highest placement on the chart. Then came her celebrated 2020 return, Fetch the Bolt Cutters, which won two more GRAMMYs (Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Rock Performance for “Shameika”) and received universal critical praise including a perfect Pitchfork score and #1 slots on year-end lists spanning The New York Times to EW to Consequence. Affirming her status as a cross-generational cultural force, she has logged headline-making collaborations with Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sharon Van Etten, plus lent her talent to “Sally’s Song” for Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and additional films and shows including Showtime’s The Affair, Judd Apatow’s This Is 40, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. She recently was invited to cover Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold” for a star-studded tribute LP, and counts everyone from President Barack Obama to Academy® Award-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino among her outspoken fan base.

On the heels of 2024’s acclaimed album Blu Wav, legendary indie-rock band Grandaddy have announced a 2025 North American tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal studio album The Sophtware Slump. The band will perform the beloved album in full on what will be their first US tour in over 20 years with Pedro the Lion & Greg Freeman as support. Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 9 at 10am local. Making stops in NYC, DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, DC, Boston and more, be sure to catch Grandaddy’s The Sophtware Slump 25th Anniversary North American Tour in a city near you!

Released in the year 2000 and infused with Lytle’s laid back humor & sensibility, the collection put a prescient spotlight on the significance of technology taking over in the future while the natural world falls apart – AI, ChatGPT, billionaires going into space – central to the global Y2K conversation at that time. From the opening track, “He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot”, Grandaddy said a tentative hello to the new century and a mournful goodbye to the old one, picking their way through the consumer detritus of shattered computer keyboards, shredded tires, floating sofas, and air conditioners rusting in the woods. The Sophtware Slump is an album about time and distance, nature and technology, loss and reclamation, progress and nostalgia, and all the precious things that do not last. Yet its greatest achievement is to stave off gloom and locate in its transcendent sadness the hope of escape. “Don’t give in, 2000 man.”

Grandaddy recently celebrated their legacy with a series of 20th anniversary reissues including The Sophtware Slump 20th anniversary reissue collection which Uncut dubbed “A prescient classic, reissued, reimagined and better than ever” and the Sumday Twunny 20th anniversary box set which earned a Pitchfork ‘Best New Reissue”. Julia Michaels Announces 'Second Self' EP Out May 23

JULIA MICHAELS ANNOUNCES SECOND SELF EP, OUT MAY 23
[GFY RECORDS] PRE-ORDER/ADD/SAVE
“SECOND SELF”

From chart-topping songwriter to multi-platinum-selling GRAMMY® nominated solo artist and businesswoman, Julia Michaels has officially entered her most empowered and creatively liberated chapter yet, sitting firmly in the driver’s seat as she prepares to release her forthcoming EP Second Self, out May 23 via her own label, GFY Records.

Comprised of six sharp and smart tracks, “Heaven II,” “Scissors,” “Try Your Luck,” “F.O.O.L.,” “GFY,” and “Time”, Second Self is a declaration of artistic ownership, showcasing Michaels’ signature puns, biting lyricism, and deep relatability. It represents not only evolution as a performer and lyricist but also her fearless step into full independence, now as founder of GFY Records. For the first time in her career, she’s writing, releasing, and calling the shots, without compromise.

“I’ve spent so much of my life helping other people tell their stories” says Michaels. “This time, it’s just me. These songs are mine. This project is mine. And that’s the most liberating feeling I’ve ever had.”
Second Self  is bold, unapologetic, and emotionally raw, a testament to Michaels’ journey toward self definition. It’s a project that embraces imperfection, celebrates growth, and explores the complexities of womanhood, heartbreak, defiance, and healing with unflinching honesty.

For over a decade, Julia Michaels has been one of the most influential and prolific forces in modern pop music. She’s written or co-written hits for an astonishing roster of artists, including Justin BieberSelena GomezDua LipaEd SheeranP!NKBritney SpearsNiall HoranShawn MendesJanelle MonáeKeith UrbanThe Chicks, and Hailee Steinfeld, helping shape the sound of a generation. Her fingerprints are on 25 Billboard Hot 100 charting tracks, 14 of which have reached the Top 40, including two #1s: Bieber’s “Sorry” and Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me.”

But in 2017, Michaels stepped into the spotlight with her 5x-Platinum breakout single “Issues,” which earned her two Grammy nominations: Best New Artist and Song of the Year. Since then, she’s released a string of acclaimed solo projects, Nervous SystemInner Monologue Part 1 & 2, and her 2021 full length debut Not In Chronological Order, all of which showcased her signature ability to render the messiness of modern love and identity with brutal clarity, poetic nuance, and emotional punch.

Throughout her solo career, Michaels has toured globally with Maroon 5P!NKNiall Horan, and Shawn Mendes, and has headlined her own Inner Monologue Tour across the U.S. She’s also graced the stages of The Tonight ShowThe VoiceEllen, and The Late Show. In 2023, her profile rose further with the release of “Sorry To Me Too” and her groundbreaking contribution to Disney’s animated feature WISH, for which she became the youngest lyricist in history to pen all the lyrics. Her classic “Issues” surpassed 1 billion Spotify streams, cementing her place among the elite tier of modern pop auteurs.

Now, with Julia Michaels  Second Self , is no longer just one of the most sought-after voices in music, she’s also one of its most uncompromising.

That new direction was recently on full display when she took the stage with Maren Morris on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, debuting her new sound with fearless energy and style. Watch  HERE.

About Julia Michaels
In 2017, Julia Michaels released her 5x-platinum selling debut single “Issues.” A year later, her peers recognized her stunning work with Grammy® Award nominations for “Best New Artist” and “Song of the Year.” She released a series of critically acclaimed EPs, including 2017’s fan-favorite Nervous System and 2019’s critically acclaimed Inner Monologue Part 1 and Inner Monologue Part 2. She also embarked on The Inner Monologue Tour, which marked her first-ever U.S. headline tour following an enviable run touring with Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Niall Horan, and P!NK. 2021 saw Julia release her highly anticipated full-length debut album, Not In Chronological Order, while her music continued to connect with songs like “What A Time” and “Heaven” going on to achieve Platinum status. To date, she has also notched 25 Billboard Hot 100 entries as a songwriter, including two number 1’s for Justin Bieber's "Sorry" and Selena Gomez's "Lose You to Love Me,” in addition to four top 10 hits. She received her third Grammy® Award nomination in the category of “Song Of The Year” for the hit song “If The World Was Ending” and her fourth Grammy® Award nomination for her work on H.E.R.’s album Back of My Mind. With the release of “Sorry To Me Too” at the end of 2022, Julia gave fans a taste of what they can expect from her next chapter as a solo artist.  She recently contributed original songs for the Disney film, “Wish,” starring Oscar winner Ariana DeBose. She continues collaborations to extend her incredible songwriting legacy.

Jenny Hval: 'Iris Silver Mist' Available Now

"A strikingly substantive and rewardingly elusive art-pop album."
- MOJO ****
"An essential listen… A delight for the ears and the nose.”
- Far Out ****
"An artist worthy of the utmost respect and adoration."
- Crack
"Impermanence is a sympton of transformation; on Iris Silver Mist, Hval extols this reality, inviting us to seek out the beauty in each stage. Even a vanishing scent reveals subtle notes as it fades."
- Pitchfork (8.0)
"[Jenny's] albums always feel like projects in the truest sense…very high concept, sort of theoretical but also existential…it never gets too far from the feeling.”

Today, Norwegian musician, artist and novelist Jenny Hval will release her new album, Iris Silver Mist, via 4AD; named a most anticipated album of spring 2025 by NPR’s All Songs Considered, Pitchfork, and Brooklyn Vegan.

Iris Silver Mist is named after a fragrance made by the nose Maurice Roucel for the French perfume house Serge Lutens. It’s described as smelling more like steel than silver. It is cold and prickly, soft and shimmering, like stepping outside on an early, misty morning, your body still warm from sleep. A perfume, with its heart notes and scented accords, shares its language with music. Both travel through air, simultaneously invisible and distinct.

Iris Silver Mist is very sensual, tactile and intimate—touching you as smells, sounds, and images do when they multiply. During a series of performances last year titled I want to be a Machine, Hval performed many of the tracks on Iris Silver Mist for the first time, before they’d been recorded, and surrounded by rice cookers, filling the songs with the misty smell of rice.

Starting the album with a performance was quite an unusual approach—and it was also an intimate one. Emphasising the importance of the physical and live elements of music, these songs held the experience that was lacking in Hval’s life for so long.

Throughout Iris Silver Mist, perfume continues to turn into smoke, mist, and music. On lead single, 'To be a rose', Hval half-speaks, half-sings to the beat of a drum machine: "A rose is a rose is a rose is a cigarette". Roses and cigarettes are romantic forms of wishful thinking, transporting you someplace else.

“Razor-edged anthems that range from brooding industrial techno to airy synth pop to sexually assertive bass music” - NYLON

“Pixel Grip is relentlessly aggressive and relentlessly horny” - PAPER

“[Pixel Grip] melds Chicago house, French electronica, and high-energy to atmospheric synth-pop to create an enticing and entrancing sonic paradise beyond heaven” - THE BIG TAKEOVER

“Imagine if Aphex Twin, Lorde, LCD Soundsystem and SURVIVE got together to make a supergroup” - AUDIOFEMME

“Sexuality. Danger.” - GHETTOBLASTER

“[Pixel Grip] have unveiled an intimidating and dynamic piece of techno minimalism and all around intensity” - DESTROY/EXIST

Underground electronic trio Pixel Grip announces their eagerly awaited independent third album, Percepticide: The Death of Reality, set for release on June 12th. Alongside the announcement, Pixel Grip shares a gripping new single and visualizer, “Reason to Stay”. Serving as the fourth release and focus track from the album, it’s a raw, abrasive offering, pulsing with distortion and resilience, anchored by a pounding bassline where vocalist Rita Lukea leans fully into the chaos–confronting betrayal head-on.

Speaking on “Reason to Stay”, Rita Lukea shares, “The focus track of the album embodies aggression. With a pounding, abrasive bassline and a chorus that’s shouted at you: “What's the point of giving less than 100%? You pushed me to the limit what the fuck you expect?”  Rita introduces the idea that resilience can be ugly and wrathful, and when faced with the option to leave, she chooses to stay -  “Just to hear you scream”.

Coinciding with the news, Pixel Grip has announced they will embark on their North American headline tour this Fall, which will kick off in St. Louis on September 23rd. The 26-date Percepticide tour will see Pixel Grip trek across the US and Canada before it wraps with a hometown show at Metro in Chicago on November 14th (full dates below). Artist pre-sale begins on Wednesday, venue pre-sale begins on Thursday, and general ticket sales begin this Friday, May 9th at 12PM local time. For more information and ticket purchasing visit https://pixelgripmusic.com/tourdates.

“Reason to Stay” follows the previously released pulse-pounding singles, “Split”, “Stamina” and “Bet You Do”. Continuing to push boundaries, Pixel Grip—comprised of Rita Lukea (vocals), Jonathon Freund (synth), and Tyler Ommen (drums) is a genre-defying force. Blending darkwave, electronic, and avant-pop influences, the trio consistently expands their sound while maintaining their signature raw energy and star power.

Written over a three-year hiatus between Los Angeles and Chicago, Percepticide: The Death of Reality is the sound of fragmentation, catharsis, empowerment, and rebirth. It’s a raw exploration of personal and collective struggles. Born from a period where each member confronted their own demons of betrayal, addiction, neglect, and emotional fracture—the album captures a band navigating the collapse and reconstruction of perception, identity, connection, and reality(ies), resulting in a sonic palette that reflects destruction and rebirth.

Pixel Grip shares, “The album title itself is a portmanteau of "percipere" (to perceive) and "-cide" (to kill), signifying "the killing of perception." Percepticide: The Death of Reality is more than just an album—it’s a visceral experience, a statement, and a call to redefine how we see the world.”

Rita adds, “‘Percepticide’ is a cognitive distortion and a symptom of trauma – beliefs you hold to be true are shattered – as you question everyone and everything around you. My dream is that expressing my rage can help someone else feel empowered and at the very least, less alone. You’re never stuck, and you’re never alone.”

Known for their seductive, avant-garde aesthetic and electrifying live performances, Pixel Grip has cultivated a cult following through relentless touring and an unapologetic exploration of themes rooted in desire, power, and liberation, amassing over 7M streams to date. In 2024, they toured as direct support for HEALTH and DEHD, followed by a sold-out North American headline run, including a standout performance at Chicago’s RIOT Fest. Their underground anthems “ALPHAPUSSY” and “Demon Chaser” have caught the eye of high fashion houses and have been featured on fashion runways for VERSACE and Alexandre Vauthier.

Now, with their third album and headline tour on the horizon, Percepticide: The Death of Reality marks a bold new chapter in Pixel Grip’s evolution—furthering their sonic and artistic vision into thrilling, uncharted territory.
