You love it because it allows you to connect with readers and promote your books.

But you hate it—or at least, are frustrated by it—because it seems to take a lot of time and there is that nagging sense that whatever you’re doing isn’t as effective as it should be, either because you aren’t doing it the right way or you aren’t doing it at the right time.

Balancing Act: Life as a Working Writer

Every day I write, in one fashion or another.

When I’m sitting at my desk and when I’m sitting inmy car. When I’m washing dishes, mowing the lawn, shopping for groceries or (forgive me, God) attendingchurch on Sunday.

Yetwhile I may be writing all the time — something I want to do, love to do, have to do — I am alsoengaged in a balancing act, walking a tightrope between writing for clients at one end and writing my fiction at the other.
