How long have you been in business?

I opened my first store in 1981 in the old Gateway Mall (when it was an enclosed mall).  I’ve had stores in Seminole Mall, Largo Mall and St Armand’s in Sarasota.  For 5 years between stores, I was the Southeastern Sales Manager for Ingram Book Company.

You hold a number of author events throughout the year, with one of your most recent being Lovecraft Night. How do you promote these events?

What’s Your Biggest Writing Challenge?

I’ve been a full-time freelance for more than 20 years, and it’s been a rollercoaster of a ride.

In the beginning, as I made that long slow trek up the incline, I wondered if I would ever reach the top.

And when I did—when I had enough client work to pay my bills and even put a little aside for the future—it seemed I stayed at the pinnacle for only a second before down I went.

Client assignments dried up at the same time unexpected expenses surfaced and I found myself back at the bottom again...
