My Rut-Busting Book for Writers Publishing Process – Part 1

I have lost count of how many times I have read RUT-BUSTING BOOK FOR WRITERS.

First, there were the multiple times I read each chapter, adding, subtracting, revising and rewriting until I was relatively happy with the content.

Then, there was the read-through of the entire manuscript, looking for inconsistencies in formatting or sections where I repeated myself.

And then, while it was being subjected to the figurative red pen of my editor Ann Henry, there was another read-t...

Finding a Writing Hideaway

Summertime… and the writing is…. darned tricky because there is a lot going on in your home.

The kids are out of school. Or relatives have descended for an open-ended visit.

Or maybe it’s you and your dear ones who are hitting the road for a family vacation.

There’s nothing wrong with that, except when all those personal plans collide with your writing goals. Then you need to figure how to “write on the fly” or find someplace to work that isn’t in...

Tuesday’s Tips: Dealing with the “Thanks but No Thanks” Response

Dealing with the “Thanks but No Thanks” Response

Image from Pablo

So I have spent the better part of last week and today doing an essential task for a freelancer: looking for new assignments.

Specifically, I have been making cold calls to new prospects and touching base with those with whom I have had previous interactions.

While the strategy has in the past netted me most of my work, remembering that doesn’t make it any easier when I run into the various versions of “Thanks, but no thanks” t...
