The Bicycle Thief
I am a student at Ball State University. A few weeks ago I noticed a bike lying on the ground, unattached to anything. It was a cool bike-- vintage and in pretty good condition. Everyday for a week I would come to this area to lock up my bike and marvel that no one had taken what seemed to be an abandoned Huffy Santa Fe. I also lamented that someone would leave such a great bike out in the elements as if it were just a piece of trash. I decided to liberate the bike from its negligent owner. I rode it for about a month with the intention to give it back if anyone claimed it to be theirs.
When I came out of my office yesterday, the bike-which unlike the owner, I had locked up-was gone. In its place was this somewhat incoherent and patronizing note. Notice that he (I assume by the handwriting it's a guy) asks for his bike lock back, but does not indicate to me where I can deliver it.

To Whomever It May Concern
This sign was tacked to the door of an abandoned building in Victoria BC - a Canadian city of moderate size on the south tip of Vancouver Island. The building was used to store tables and display items for the Sunday Government Street Market. No one knew someone lived there - until we saw this sign. A polite soul, someone with dignity.

As a Brother
We found this letter in the attic of a property we bought and renovated. The building was in what had been considered a pretty rough neighborhood. The property had been vacant for about a year when we found this.

Last Good Bye
Found this note walking home from a bar one night, it was ripped in half and crumbled on the sidewalk.

The Confession
This was found by a friend on the floor of a local supermarket. So reminiscent of my own Catholic childhood (although I NEVER dished this much to the priest!).
