This was found in the basement of a demolished house a number of years ago and has been sitting in a box since then. Just found it again and thought this would be the best publication to share it with. It's blurry because it's written in pencil.

May 2 1945

Dear Folks
Just a few lines to let you know that I'm ok and I hope you are the same.
I forgot to tell you that I received the Christmas present that mother sent me the package and also the (?) fruit cake and got the one from august too the candy was all melted together but the rest of the stuff was alright.
I understand we won't be paid until the first of next month there was a rumor out that I was going to be paid the first of this month be we didn't. I let some fellow borrow money last week figuring ro get it back but they didn't get paid either so if you have an extra ten or a twenty send it and if you haven't forgot. If I should happen to get paid before I get it I will send it right back thats about all I can think of
