January River eBook on Amazon

It’s been a long road, but I published my eBook January River on Amazon!

It is a heartwarming cross-genre story about five friends, one dog and one river carrying a secret.

If you like literary fiction, coming-of-age, mystery, or romance novels, you will find in it something for you. And if you love dogs, this is a book for you!

When one of their friends goes missing, everything comes crashing down for the small group of childhood friends in the small town of Greenfield. Ethan takes it hard. Then he loses his dog, his only consolation.

Hoping to start anew, Ethan leaves Greenfield and moves to New York City. Far from the ghosts of his childhood and the river that gives and takes life. There he finds his one true love and builds a career as a bestselling author.

But how long will Ethan’s happiness last as doubts creep back into him and shatter his reality? And will his reconciliation with the past come at too great a price?

January River is enrolled in KDP Select, where you can read it for free, and through most of April it will be at the discounted price of $0.99. A perfect time to download your eBook!

Please don’t forget to leave an honest review and recommend it by word of mouth. Thanks!

Frozen Stiff Drink Review

Frozen Stiff Drink (Braxton Campus Mysteries #6) Frozen Stiff Drink by James J. Cudney

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thought life in Braxton without Nana D wouldn’t be so much interesting and entertaining, but James J. Cudney, the author of already six books in the Braxton Campus Mysteries series, proved me wrong. Frozen Stiff Drink is as much entertaining, funny, and capturing even in the hours of her absence, because he smartly used a whole small army of other characters to make us glued to his latest story.

The disappearance of a beloved, witty and cunning mayoress, the series of new mysterious murders, and the barreling winter blizzard are more than excellent reasons to make this literary riddle a successful page-turner. And introducing a new arrogant “villain” who fights with Kellan for the heart of the same darling adds a nice kick and a few extra pinches of love-spice to our reading experience.

Without further ado, James nailed it again, ending Frozen Stiff Drink with a BLAST of the cliffhanger! The wait was worth it!

January River Cover and Blurb Reveal

Between sixty aftershocks that are shaking the ground after two strong earthquakes hit Zagreb on a Sunday morning and the threat of a deadly virus, my heart is filled with gratitude and excitement as I reveal the cover and the blurb for January River, my first novel in English. I’ve been working and waiting over a year for this moment to arrive, so I hope it finds its way to the hearts of many readers and fans.

Domi at Inspired Cover Designs did a stunning cover for my eBook and paperback editions, so if you ever need a skilled cover designer, give her a chance!

Indie authors, Jonathan Hill and Michael Evans, have big credits for the final look of my blurb, so please show them some love by reading and reviewing their books.

January River Blurb

Five friends. One dog. One river carrying a secret.

All rivers carry their secrets, but not every river keeps its secret forever.

In this heartwarming coming-of-age literary fiction with episodes of mystery and romance cross-genre story, Bernard Jan, the author of Look for Me Under the Rainbow and A World Without Color, speaks of true friendship, first darlings, and real loves. With gentle words he describes our connection with nature and love for our four-legged friends who quickly become honorable members of our families, but also tells about the dark secrets we carry in our hearts.

Thank you all who brought me here. January River will be available for purchase on Amazon in April.

Triggered Review

Triggered (Control Freakz #3) Triggered by Michael Evans

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the third novel in the Control Freakz box set, Michael Evans brings Natalie’s life into somewhat calmer but emotionally still challenging and turbulent waters. Unlike in action-and-killing-packed Control Freakz (book 1) and Delusional (book 2), Natalie in Triggered has even more time to look into herself, deals with her regrets and contemplate about her emotional state. The same broken state in which she made some bad moves and wrong decisions. As she becomes aware of the impact she has left on the world and the lives of her closest and dearest ones, she sinks into lethargy, self-pity, depression, and solitude. Before she sets her mind on becoming a new, yet the same old Natalie, determined to make great things for humanity.

Saving the world comes at too great a price and learning the truth can be too hard to handle. But the young author shows no mercy to his protagonists, and that is what I love about his writing. Not mentioning the continuous elements of surprise and his easy-to-read and rich writing style.

This is the review of an older edition of Triggered and some of my review may or may not pertain to the current edition of the novel. But I wanted my review to reflect an honest experience of the story as it was when I read it.

Delusional Review

Delusional (Control Freakz #2) Delusional by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I abandoned the idea of writing this review by retelling what happened to Natalie and Ethan after escaping death from the hands of merciless President Ash in the bowels of Area 51 because the ending of Delusional, book 2 in Control Freakz Series, surprised me so much that I still try to process what on earth happened and why the author did it!

I want to hang on to this feeling, without spoiling much the reading to those of you who will grab this futuristic, dystopian, action-packed thriller, eager to see what has Natalie gone through before completing a full circle from escaping to returning to the hateful Area 51 facility where she left behind not only the ones she loved most, but also the vital part of herself—her memories.

After posting this review, I’m moving on to the last book in the Control Freakz Series box set, where I also read this book. The suspense and adrenaline in me are still high and waiting won’t help. Thirteen months after reading the first book in the series, Michael Evans hooked me again with this story and I am determined to plunge without delay into another set of action scenes, mind and political games and fights for the world domination, manipulations, dark thoughts and personal crisis, not delusional but aware that I should expect the unexpected.

My Story of Danny at a Discounted Price

My eBook Look for Me Under the Rainbow will be again at a 67% discounted price on Amazon.

Monday, March 16, 2020, 8:00 AM PDT through Monday, March 23, 2020, 12:00 AM PDT

The story of a harp seal pup Danny is popular among readers of all ages, so if you know someone who wants to get it at a discounted price for their kids or grandchildren or parents or grandparents, please spread the word. They will love it, not just because of its touching story but also for teaching our young and old ones about love for the animals and nature and caring about our planet, which is endangered today now more than ever before in the history. Countless animal species are facing their extinction (including polar bears!) and the galloping climate changes threaten the whole mankind and our towns. Thank you for helping me spread awareness and educating others that we are all connected, and we all matter.

Honest reviews on Amazon and Goodreads will only help to spread its message, so thanks for keeping that in mind.

You can download Look for Me Under the Rainbow here.

My other eBook A World Without Color is at a permanent price of $0.99.

Aftershock Review

Aftershock (Conspiracy Chronicles #5) Aftershock by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To the fans of sci-fi, YA, technothrillers, apocalypse, dystopia, and conspiracy books: please read all four books in the Conspiracy Chronicles series because you don’t want to miss anything until you get to the Book 5, Aftershock. So much has happened, and is going on in this latest installment, as Sam, Jake and Ai try to save China—and the entire world—from the natural disaster engineered by President Li and the Party.

The very thought of an earthquake gives me enough creeps and terror even without thinking of the man-made earthquake of the magnitude and size to destroy hundreds of millions on the eastern seaboard of China. But the most impressive parts of Aftershock to me are unforgettable and unbelievable action scenes on the oil rig in the East China Sea. If this book series ever turned into a movie, Hollywood and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films would have a serious competition!

This novel is a nuclear bomb made of robots and futuristic technology ready to explode. And its author, Michael Evans, has no second thoughts before pressing the “activate” button and giving us one huge AFTERSHOCK. This book detonates from the beginning to the end!

Polar Dream Review

Polar Dream Polar Dream by Davor Rostuhar

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Polar Dream is the latest amazing book by my favorite Croatian writer and photographer, Davor Rostuhar. In this unbelievable adventure, Davor surrounded himself with his dream and followed it all the way to the South Pole. He walked 1,163 km solo, pulling his sled, unsupported and unassisted in the journey of cold and silence that lasted 48 days.

Polar Dream is a story of the strength of human will, endurance, courage, dedication, belief in yourself. But also a story of one amazing dream and all it took to reach it. If you are an adventurer, a wanderer, or you just like to learn about untouched and hidden corners of our planet and its majestic beauty, this is the book you should have and read. Not only to give respect to Davor, who is the 26th person in the history who achieved something so incredible that borders with craziness—to walk by himself, unassisted and unsupported, on his expedition from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole, but also to listen to his motivating and inspiring thoughts and voice. Because for him, there is no giving up.

“My arena is silent and lonely, but support from my fans echoes faintly through this holy silence, and on its wings I fly toward victory.”

Polar Dream - South Pole Expedition is also available in English, thanks to Davor who translated it himself from Croatian.

For more information about other Davor’s adventures, expeditions and books, visit his websites www.davorrostuhar.com and www.kek.hr.

Renegade Review

Renegade (Conspiracy Chronicles #4) Renegade by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you didn’t yet read the first three books of Conspiracy Chronicles by Michael Evans, please do it now! In the fourth book of this awesome series, Renegade, this prolific and very talented teenage author shifts into the highest gear so far.

It is a full action near future science fiction thriller for young adults and those who are not afraid to feel young and love such books, with death waiting around every corner, mass murders, incredible shooting scenes, and blood up to your knees. And it all takes for Sam and his friend Jake to put an end to the ruthless dictatorship and prevent a horrible genocide to occurring in China after millions of human lives were lost in the similar way in America. But will it be enough?

A crazy, good read; don’t miss it!

History Is All You Left Me Review

History Is All You Left Me History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to read Adam Silvera’s books when I’m alone. No riding in a tram, no one beside me. Just me and the stillness of the night. When tears can run freely because it’s impossible to stop them. Another dagger through the heart. Theo, Griffin, Wade Jackson, Adam. Well done, all of you.

History remains with the people who will appreciate it most. You didn’t get your history wrong, Griff.

My last words? Reading this book is emotional suicide, but it’s a beautiful way to die.
