Danny at a Discounted Price

My story of a harp seal pup Danny and his family, Look for Me Under the Rainbow, is at a 67% discounted price on Amazon.

Sunday, May 24, 2020, 8:00 AM PDT through Sunday, May 31, 2020, 12:00 AM PDT

Time will show whether we were right or not, whether we raised such an outcry in vain and whether it was really necessary to shock the world with heart-rending reports and photographs, to upset the daily routine of ordinary people, disturbing their time for rest and their recreational habits, or spoiling their freshly-cooked meal. I can only hope that one day we shall be forgiven if it turns out that man is responsible for the extinction of the last inhabitant of the seas, and the walls of death on their ghostly routes come to clutch us all in their deadly suffocating grip.

I shall stop writing for a moment. Erwin is coming and, if I’m not mistaken, he seems to be bringing me a mug of steaming coffee. I admit I need it with the yearning of an addict.

Look for Me Under the Rainbow is a work of fiction, though the killing of harp seals in Canada is a reality which has been going on for decades already. Despite the huge public outcry and many national bans on the import and sale of seal products, the massacre on ice continues. Every year, tens of thousands of seals fall victim to human greed.

Although Look for Me Under the Rainbow is listed in a program for elementary schools in Croatia as a reading of choice for seventh graders, it is written for everyone. For all of us, no matter our age, who will open our hearts and minds and with small steps in our lives start a big change on a global scale.

Thank you all who will download this touching story during its promo week and write honest reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

Thank you for helping this important cause and for spreading the message.

You can download Look for Me Under the Rainbow here.

My eBook A World Without Color is at a permanent price of $0.99, while you can download my new novel January River as an eBook for $2.99.

Mad World Review

Mad World Mad World by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From the Control Freakz Series to all his books in the Conspiracy Chronicles, I have never stopped admiring the talent and imagination of a young, teenage author, Michael Evans. That didn’t change after reading the first book, Mad World, in his brand new World Gone Mad Series.

Pumped with adrenaline, action and terrifying scenes of destruction of our world, Mad World grabs the readers and glues them to its last pages. The beginning scenes of the apocalypse are so realistic and gripping that we can experience the fear, panic, and disbelief creeping through our body as we root for the main character(s) we quickly become fond of. As the story develops further toward its darker moments with millions of people dead and their homes, towns and lives perished or robbed, its fatality clenches us even harder thanks to the greatness and ease of Michael Evans’s writing.

And all it took was one man’s addiction that led to the apocalyptic destruction of our future world.

Although Mad World, and the World Gone Mad Series, is a post-apocalyptic survival thriller, it is a dystopian and suspense story fueled by love for the family, people and mankind, but also by deep remorse and repentance. We can feel the author’s personal involvement in love and great care with which he created his characters and wrote probably his best book so far, but also in his goal to ensure that society never ends up there. In a mad world.

Michael Evans is the author with unquestionable talent, potential, vision, and the future. And so are his stories.

Deadwave: Conspiracy Chronicles Prequel Review

Deadwave: Conspiracy Chronicles Prequel Deadwave: Conspiracy Chronicles Prequel by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After I read six books from the Conspiracy Chronicles series by the young author Michael Evans, I was eager to read its prequel which takes place several years before the events in the first book in the series, Breakdown. Michael nailed it again. In Deadwave he realistically describes Sam’s emotional state of mind and all the darkness of his suicidal thoughts after he lost his mom who killed herself by jumping off a cliff.

Emotions, regrets, qualms of conscience. The entire atmosphere around his father and best friend Jake are so painfully described as he was describing his personal trauma. It is an honest reminder to all of us on what we sacrifice to reach our goals by not spending enough time or sharing love with our dearest ones. These parts of the book are the most powerful. But they don’t overshadow the other parts when Sam follows his dream to become the best player in the virtual reality zombie-infested video game Deadwave.

Deadwave: Conspiracy Chronicles Prequel only confirms the exceptional potential of young Evans as a writer with a fantastic imagination, impressive writing skills, and the power to capture us into his dystopia-science fiction-thriller world. Another success and a must read!

January River Paperback

Another joyous day because on April 20 I have released a paperback edition of my novel January River on Amazon!

This heartwarming cross-genre story, a fine mix of literary fiction, coming-of-age, mystery, and romance, about five friends, one dog and one river carrying a secret is available as paperback on Amazon for only $10.99.

Animal and dog lovers, don’t skip it because this is a story for you too!

When one of their friends goes missing, everything comes crashing down for the small group of childhood friends in the small town of Greenfield. Ethan takes it hard. Then he loses his dog, his only consolation.

Hoping to start anew, Ethan leaves Greenfield and moves to New York City. Far from the ghosts of his childhood and the river that gives and takes life. There he finds his one true love and builds a career as a bestselling author.

But how long will Ethan’s happiness last as doubts creep back into him and shatter his reality? And will his reconciliation with the past come at too great a price?

All rivers carry their secrets, but not every river keeps its secret forever.

14 Years Since You’ve Been Gone

I still remember you. And the day we parted. I will never forget the moment my heart turned into ashes.

And the pain. And agony. And sorrow for the days we won’t share, ever again.

It’s painful to even think about it. But it’s a comfort knowing we had each other. And love we shared that I still feel for you.

You spread love and good vibrations wherever you appear as you have all these fourteen years and nine months. I don’t know about you, but if someone gives us as much time as a gift, it won’t be enough for me. On second thoughts, you are the best thing that ever happened to me. Thanks to you I could survive the dementia, illness and death of my grandmother, who vegetated for years before she found her deserved peace. Thanks to you I managed to cope every day with atrocious images of animals raised and slaughtered for human consumption, massacred in laboratory experiments, skinned for their fur... or those unwanted and discarded before they were run over on the roads. You were one of them too—discarded. Unwanted. One of those sentenced to death immediately after birth. Luck has smiled on you in the end. If I’m to be honest, luck favored us. Many times I thought: if it wasn’t for you, this family might have already gone to hell. But you keep us together. As the gravity of the home planet holds its satellites, not allowing them to wander into the universe of the unknown.

I hope many of my readers and fans will read your story. Because you deserve it. Because your life was not in vain, you were the best gift I could have hoped for from this life.

Thank you for everything.

Lone Wolf Review

Lone Wolf (Conspiracy Chronicles, #6) Lone Wolf by Michael Evans

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Too much is going on in my head now to write a standard, comprehensive review. The flood of thoughts and emotions. Which might be a good thing. Because this book hit me like a sledgehammer, and I couldn’t and didn’t want to put it down once I started reading it.

Is it a fight of a sole young man against the strongest dark forces of the world? A boy who lost everything dear and most precious to him on his quest to save the humanity from the darkness descending like a massive dome over the entire world? Is it a story that in the sixth book in the series already spreads through your systems and sets your adrenaline on fire like a lava melting the steep slopes of an ancient volcano? Or an untamable imagination of the young author that breaks every border and discovers new heroes and villains, new dire and challenging situations and intense states of mind? Or is it the sign of the time from the future which doesn’t look so futuristic and impossible in our world today?

Lone Wolf by Michael Evans resonates with every fiber of my being. Learning from his Acknowledgements that this was the last book he was writing as a non-adult person makes it astonishing. What an achievement!

Welcome to the adulthood, Michael, and may all the forces of the universe be with you and your writing.

My Guest Post: What is Your Value?

I have a great honor and pleasure to be featured with my guest post on the blog of the author I highly respect, value, and love reading.

This Is My Truth Now is author James J. In my guest post “Tips & Advice: Readers & Authors—What is Your Value?” I talk about a controversial topic, about the value we place on ourselves and our books.

Thank you; Jay, for this opportunity to express my thoughts!

Please read it here and give it a thumbs up! Even if you don’t like it, give it a thumbs up.

Veil Review

Veil Veil by Eliot Peper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Maybe it is no coincidence that Veil by Eliot Peper is being launched at a time when the cries for saving our planet and warning about climate change were the strongest and on its peak when another threat appeared out of the blue and silenced them. As the threat to the world population kills people everywhere, who is still thinking about global warming and climate change? Is it that important when we don’t know who will tomorrow live and who will die?

Yes, it is important. Because, viruses or no viruses, without the climate that sustains the thriving of all creatures, viruses won’t matter because there won’t be any life for them to attack. It will all be barren and dead.

Veil is an important book that comes at the right time. As we are afraid, or forced to fear for our own existence, we must not lose this global picture from our sight. Because what will happen if someone hijacks our climate and starts disasters that kill tens of million people and puts the future of our civilization at stake?

This is what happens in Veil, an intriguing, informative and educational “family” story, veiled in secrets, manipulations and their revelations, and rediscovered friendship and family ties.

Eliot Peper is not only a skilled storyteller, but also a teacher. He warns us about what can happen when a single human being gets enough power to change the world and gives us food for thought what will we do and what kind of future we want for ourselves and our loved ones.

This is a wake-up call, and if we don’t pull our heads out of the sand of ignorance, not only will someone with power hijack our climate but also our lives and very existence.

I want to thank Eliot for giving me the opportunity to read his advance review copy and conclude my honest review with two brilliant excerpts from his brand new novel.

Time distending into singularity at the moment of impact, every fiber of her soul resonating at the same frequency before shattering like a crystal champagne flute under the ringing soprano of an opera singer.

Clarity is not short sentences, she’d said. Or long sentences. Or sentences of any particular flavor. Clarity is forging your imagination into a pebble that, when tossed, will ripple through other minds.
