Winding Down
Like Leslie, I’m getting ready for RWA in Atlanta next week. I need to finish PERFECT TOGETHER before I leave, so I’m focused on that, plus packing. By this point in a story, I’m usually in the downhill slide and getting to the end is a rushed pleasure. Sam is being just as stubborn now as he was when I began writing his book. Each word has been painfully pulled from my poor brain. I can only hope there is some semblance of a good story in these pages! In the meantime, I don’t have much to say here because I am so frazzled.
So I’ll just ask – will any of you be in Atlanta? Tell me so I can look forward to seeing you!
And if you are going, keep an eye out for me or my mini-me (my oldest daughter) who will be attending. We’ll be handing out Carly Phillips buttons to anyone who asks!

Makeup Addict
Hi. My name is Carly and I am a makeup junkie. I’m sure I’ve posted about this before, but it seems like a good time to mention it again. Buying makeup makes me happy. A girl can never have too many eye shadows in purple. Or pink. You all know I love pink. Which brings me to lipsticks. There are soo many shades of pink. And of course, some have blue undertones and others don’t. And not all look good on me. I don’t like trying on makeup in stores for obvious reasons. Yes, I’ll let the girls at the cosmetics counters clean their brushes and make me over but for general buying? I look, I test on the top of my hand, and I buy. Which is why I have bags of cosmetics that don’t look good on me. Sometimes I can pawn them off on my girls but most of the time, they like what they like, and not what mom likes. This, I can understand too. I don’t like what my mom likes.
The other day, I saw this on Pinterest – and I immediately began to drool and now I want both the Laura Mercier lipstick and liner, of course I can’t buy/ship b/c it’ll melt on the way to me in this heat; by the time I get to go look at it in the store, the colors will either not look the same or not look good on me. But I will purchase them anyway.
And in the meantime, I lust after them. What about you? Do you love cosmetics? Which brand? Which type? Eye shadow? Lipstick? Blush? Foundation? I could NEVER pick just one – but unless it’s a rainy Sunday and I’m not leaving the house, I must have on foundation, concealer, an eye shadow base or a pink shadow, and lipgloss. And THAT makes me happy.
