Poor Lavender :(
Notes:
(1) Hermione: "Golpalott’s Third Law states that the antidote for a blended poison will be equal to more than the sum of the antidotes for each of the separate components."
- That makes no sense! How can something be equal to more than a sum? It would just be greater than it!
(2) The gif never happens in the book, but it's my favorite scene :)

Notes:
(1) '"Snape!" ejaculated Slughorn, who looked the most shaken, pale
and sweating. "Snape! I taught him! I thought I knew him!"'
- I sincerely hope that "ejaculated" means something different in British English.
(2) Fleur snatches ointment from Molly and takes over dabbing Bill. Ah, the symbolic passing of the ointment.
(3) Six down, one to go. I'll see you next book!

Notes:
(1) Kicking another wizard's wand must be akin to spitting in their face. At least Snape didn't snap Harry's in half.
(2) Gee, I haven't heard of the Hand of Glory since Book Two. That's a deep call back.
(3) Fleur: "You thought I would not weesh to marry him? ... What do I care how he looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk!
- Haha! Nice one, Fleur.

Notes:
(1) On one hand, Harry should be less repetitive with spells. Petrificus Totalus over and over gets boring. On the other hand, if it works, why change?
(2) '"DON’T —" screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman ... "CALL ME COWARD!"'
- A regular Marty McFly right there: "Nobody. Calls me. Chicken!"
(3) "I, the Half-Blood Prince!"
- Like "I, Claudius"?

Notes:
(1) Amycus calls Dumbledore "Dumby." I imagine a green stick of plasticine with a horse named Pokey.
(2) Fenrir: “I wouldn’t want to miss a trip to Hogwarts ... Not when there are throats to be ripped out... Delicious, delicious.”
- Can werewolves be cannibals? Or does it only count in human form?
(3) "Severus... please."
- Ah... reminds me of many a chatroom debate.

Notes:
(1) Malfoy: "He’s a double agent, you stupid old man, he isn’t working for you."
Dumbledore: "We must agree to differ on that, Draco. It so happens that I trust Professor Snape."
- I use "agree to disagree" a lot too.
(2) Malfoy: "I got the idea... from the Mudblood Granger."
Dumbledore: "Please do not use that offensive word in front of me."
- Total boss to the end.

Notes:
(1) Draco disarms Dumbledore... the significance of which is yet to be known. I love how Rowling seeds plot points in deep cuts.
(2) Dumbledore: "Killing is not nearly as easy as the innocent believe... So tell me, while we wait for your friends... how did you smuggle them in here?"
- The old "I'm going to die anyway, so tell me your plan" trick! Bond would be proud.

Notes:
(1) Harry needs blood to open the archway. Luckily, he was already cut whilst fighting Inferi. Even zombies have a silver lining.
(2) '"It’s going to be all right, sir," Harry said over and over again ... "Don’t worry..."
"I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."'
- Hits me right in the feels.

Notes:
(1) How is Harry shocked that blood magic is a thing? Voldemort was revived by his blood!
(2) Dumbldore: "You are underage and unqualified. Voldemort would never have expected a sixteen-year-old to reach this place: I think it unlikely that your powers will register compared to mine."
- So... Harry should be glad the alarm can't detect his negligible amount of magic.

Notes:
(1) Perhaps Harry's grown too used to magic. He's fine charging headlong into danger, but a short swim in cold water totally freaks him out. Who is he? Film-Ron?
(2) "Harry had long since learned that bangs and smoke were more often the marks of ineptitude than expertise."
- I wonder if he's referring to Seamus, who's gimmick is he often accidentally blows things up?

Notes:
(1) Ginny: "All Romilda Vane does is ask me if it’s true you’ve got a hippogriff tattooed across your chest ... I told her it’s a Hungarian Horntail ... Much more macho."
- Harry's already kinda got a lightning bolt tattoo, and on his face too! I'd guess that's be even more macho.
(2) "Rage and resentment fought shock and excitement."
- Fight it! Angst was so Book 5.

Tahera wrote: "Yeah Physics was never a strong point with me...the normal and the magical 🤯."I'm much the same way. It's just that this is phrased so weirdly. Essentially it's saying 5 is equal to more than 4, which makes no sense because "equal" is a definite while "more" is a generalization. Apparently Rowling's not a numbers person either. 🤷♂️
Man when I watched that scene I was just like, 'And Lavender embarrasses herself in front of classmates, teachers, and the headmaster.' I would have at least played it off cool.

I mean, she could have played it off like Ron was saying Hermione's name cause he heard her voice or something. Instead she, and everyone else to be fair, interpreted it as Ron expressing inner truth about which girl he preferred.
Aurel wrote: "the characters act different than normaly"I don't know. I've known girls who would definitely act like Lavender. "Normal" is relative to the amount of crazy in a person. 🤷♂️
btw i recormend you to read CHERUB you might like it and maybe hate it but i find it good rn im reading season 2 its awsome its about spy stuff but yenow boring kids spy stuff this is 10000000% better guns knife shooting killing saving recruiting and stuff awsome ! they recute kids with above average intelligence and or language skill or strength and recute them but they need to pass basic training and if they fail they dont get to join and they have to swear to secrecy and if they pass they say and train in language , sport , math etc but its awsome!!!!
Aurel wrote: "btw i recormend you to read CHERUB you might like it and maybe hate it but i find it good rn im reading season 2 its awsome its about spy stuff but yenow boring kids spy stuff this is 10000000% bet..."Thanks for the recommendation. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
Aurel wrote: "-_- do reply to everthing -_- im watching u ¬_¬"Within reason. It lets people know that their comments have been read and not ignored or skimmed over.
Exceptions are if someone just wants to play comment tag or kids who hijack my comment section for their own personal chat room (they get deleted and blocked).
Aurel wrote: "btw wht comment tag? (i tryed not talking)""Tag, you're it" sort of stuff. Intentional back and forth for no reason.
I always thought it meant that the components working together ended up stronger than each component acting separately.
Audrey wrote: "I always thought it meant that the components working together ended up stronger than each component acting separately."That would make more sense, though in this instance Slughorn is talking about a specific volume or quantity of ingredients, to which an alchemical binder is added. That additional ingredient is what's meant by "more than the sum."
Rahaf wrote: "I'm excited to continue reading the series every time I read your review 🤗"Thanks, Rahaf! That's nice of you to say. I appreciate it :)
Aurel wrote: "any of you guys or gals play video games? im bored and dont feel like reading (thats a first)"Only books here.
Linda ~ they got the mustard out! ~ wrote: "This is what happens when you don't teach math. 😂"Well, they've got arithmancy, which by default's got to be more practical in real life :)
David, I know it's you who's creating new accounts just to post on this thread and get around the fact that I blocked you. Please stop. It's creepy and obsessive and not worth your time or mine. Genuinely, I advise you to just let go of whatever problem you have with me and move on.
