Notes:
(1) '"Are you going out with [Cormac], then?” asked Parvati, wide-eyed.
"Oh — yes — didn’t you know?" said Hermione, with a most un-Hermione-ish giggle.'
- I doubt there's even a Hermione-ish giggle. Mostly she blushes.
(2) Harry: "Serves you right for coming with [Cormac]."
Hermione: "I thought he’d annoy Ron most."
- I expect no less from a jealousy-fueled romance.

Notes:
(1) '"Snape!" ejaculated Slughorn, who looked the most shaken, pale
and sweating. "Snape! I taught him! I thought I knew him!"'
- I sincerely hope that "ejaculated" means something different in British English.
(2) Fleur snatches ointment from Molly and takes over dabbing Bill. Ah, the symbolic passing of the ointment.
(3) Six down, one to go. I'll see you next book!

Notes:
(1) Kicking another wizard's wand must be akin to spitting in their face. At least Snape didn't snap Harry's in half.
(2) Gee, I haven't heard of the Hand of Glory since Book Two. That's a deep call back.
(3) Fleur: "You thought I would not weesh to marry him? ... What do I care how he looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk!
- Haha! Nice one, Fleur.

Notes:
(1) On one hand, Harry should be less repetitive with spells. Petrificus Totalus over and over gets boring. On the other hand, if it works, why change?
(2) '"DON’T —" screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman ... "CALL ME COWARD!"'
- A regular Marty McFly right there: "Nobody. Calls me. Chicken!"
(3) "I, the Half-Blood Prince!"
- Like "I, Claudius"?

Notes:
(1) Amycus calls Dumbledore "Dumby." I imagine a green stick of plasticine with a horse named Pokey.
(2) Fenrir: “I wouldn’t want to miss a trip to Hogwarts ... Not when there are throats to be ripped out... Delicious, delicious.”
- Can werewolves be cannibals? Or does it only count in human form?
(3) "Severus... please."
- Ah... reminds me of many a chatroom debate.

Notes:
(1) Malfoy: "He’s a double agent, you stupid old man, he isn’t working for you."
Dumbledore: "We must agree to differ on that, Draco. It so happens that I trust Professor Snape."
- I use "agree to disagree" a lot too.
(2) Malfoy: "I got the idea... from the Mudblood Granger."
Dumbledore: "Please do not use that offensive word in front of me."
- Total boss to the end.

Notes:
(1) Draco disarms Dumbledore... the significance of which is yet to be known. I love how Rowling seeds plot points in deep cuts.
(2) Dumbledore: "Killing is not nearly as easy as the innocent believe... So tell me, while we wait for your friends... how did you smuggle them in here?"
- The old "I'm going to die anyway, so tell me your plan" trick! Bond would be proud.

Notes:
(1) Harry needs blood to open the archway. Luckily, he was already cut whilst fighting Inferi. Even zombies have a silver lining.
(2) '"It’s going to be all right, sir," Harry said over and over again ... "Don’t worry..."
"I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."'
- Hits me right in the feels.

Notes:
(1) How is Harry shocked that blood magic is a thing? Voldemort was revived by his blood!
(2) Dumbldore: "You are underage and unqualified. Voldemort would never have expected a sixteen-year-old to reach this place: I think it unlikely that your powers will register compared to mine."
- So... Harry should be glad the alarm can't detect his negligible amount of magic.

Notes:
(1) Perhaps Harry's grown too used to magic. He's fine charging headlong into danger, but a short swim in cold water totally freaks him out. Who is he? Film-Ron?
(2) "Harry had long since learned that bangs and smoke were more often the marks of ineptitude than expertise."
- I wonder if he's referring to Seamus, who's gimmick is he often accidentally blows things up?

Notes:
(1) Ginny: "All Romilda Vane does is ask me if it’s true you’ve got a hippogriff tattooed across your chest ... I told her it’s a Hungarian Horntail ... Much more macho."
- Harry's already kinda got a lightning bolt tattoo, and on his face too! I'd guess that's be even more macho.
(2) "Rage and resentment fought shock and excitement."
- Fight it! Angst was so Book 5.

Janhavi I love how in this instance Harry is the one who is telling off Hermione, rather than the other way round. I guess he does not approve of Hermione trying to make his friend jealous 😆

Yeah, I can see that being the case. I've always pegged Harry as a guy who wants a drama-free life, since his life's been nothing but drama since he found out he was a wizard. Possibly he's just sick of the games. At the same time, he doesn't seem interested in stepping in or interfering in their back-and-forth.

Probably for the best. If he sides with Ron, Hermione will be mad and vice versa. It would be more complicated to interfere in a lovers’ tiff. He probably thinks it’s best to stay out of it and let them work it out, lol.

If it were me, I'd probably interfere a bit and spill some info for the sake of saving everyone grief. Especially with Ron, who seems incapable of reading Hermione's signals, it might be beneficial to have a translator :)

Alexandra Elend Wolf They truly were hilarious teens XD

Jenny Clark I need to do a reread... I have the lovely illustrated editions but thier print is sooooo small....

Jayson Alexandra Elend Wolf wrote: "They truly were hilarious teens XD"

It's part of the charm of these books, that in the face of an existential crisis, the main characters still play these sort of petty games :)

I mean, it's accurate XD

Yeah, I have difficulty with small print as well. Hopefully the pictures more than make up for it :)

In any circumstance, teens will have drama, it's an invariable rule of life :)

Sasha This scene was hilarious! When Cormac throws up on Snape's shoes and Harry quitely tries to get away. Idk why people say this movie is boring, I think it's funnier than other HP movies

I agree, it may not be the most epic of the films, but it's great in it's own unique way. I'd say it's a lot like a CW high school drama, with all the positives and negatives something like that would bring. As well, Cormac isn't so prominent in the book as the film, so I'm glad he got a bigger spotlight in scenes like this :)

Jenny Clark Oh, the illustrations are very pretty and do make up for the text being small! I recommend at least looking through one of the illustrated editions if you happen to see it while browsing!

Glad to hear that. I'll be sure to do that the next time I'm in a bookstore :)

Jenny Clark Book five is supposed to be out sometime this year I believe. They even have a snazzy ribbon bookmark

Jayson Jenny wrote: "Book five is supposed to be out sometime this year I believe. They even have a snazzy ribbon bookmark"

That's always fun when they have extras like that. I'll have to be careful about possibly going in on one of these. It's the sort of thing where you can't just get one, you're going to have to get them all :)

That it is. Wheter because the situation really merits it or because teens are just naturally dramatic XD

It can't be helped. Teen emotions are naturally heightened. With the amount of hormones pumping through everyone, it's tantamount to being on drugs all the time.

And given us a tiny bust in confidence that could have made all the difference. Alas! We weren't smart enough to figure it out.
