(1) Ron lays down some serious knowledge on giants. Filmmakers take note, Ron’s not dumb.
(2) "Ron and Hermione seemed to have reached an unspoken agreement not to discuss their argument. They were being quite friendly to each other, though oddly formal."
- Yes, classic "drunk at the office X-mas party and overcompensating the next day" behavior.

(1) For someone who doesn't think much of muggles, Fudge sure loves to wear their clothes.
(2) "Sirius Black!" [Mrs. Weasley] shrieked, pointing at him.
"Mum, shut up!" Ron yelled. "It’s okay!"'
- Often a good "shut up" is the quickest remedy for hysteria.
(3) Dumbledore forces Sirius and Snape to shake hands. Ever the teacher, ever the students.

(1) Fawkes uses his tears to speed up Harry's wounds healing. That's handy... sort of like wizard Polysporin.
(2) Now that Fleur likes Ron and pays him attention, I guess she's not hot no more. Not surprising. (see gif)
- Alternatively, once kissed, perhaps her veela powers wore off.
- Alternatively, perhaps Ron's shifted his attention elsewhere.

(1) Harry's first clue should have been that Crouch always called Voldemort "The Dark Lord." All upright wizards use "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named." The boldest just say Voldemort.
(2) Wonder if all the lip licking meant David Tennant needed ChapStick on standby?
(3) Karkaroff fled? Who's going to sail the ship back to Durmstrang? Magic, most likely.

(1) Not the most impressive group of Death Eaters here. A bunch of no-names, Buckbeak's would-be executioner and some Slytherin dads.
(2) Wormtail speaks rat. Apparently being animagus gives you the ability to speak to animals. I guess McGonagall speaks cat.
(3) Voldemort gives a traditional villain tell-all monologue. A tad cliché if you ask me.

Glitchreads:
(1) Somehow, my recent review for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" switched editions. Normally I'd switch it back, but it's the second review I've written for the book, and Goodreads only lets you switch the edition of either your earlier or more popular review. So now my book covers no longer match! and my OCD is driving me nuts!

(1) 'Both Harry’s and Ron’s [Easter eggs] were the size of dragon eggs and full of homemade toffee. Hermione’s, however, was smaller than a chicken egg. Her face fell when she saw it.

In Chamber of Secrets she was all depressed and bad-tempered. It's nice to see people living happier lives. Perhaps having the basilisk gone raised her spirits :)

Yeah.. She is a very naughty girl! I feel like maybe she was born in the wrong decade... And oh my God, do you know about the actress who played her in HP4? She is so much older than Daniel Radcliffe... Creeppppyyy!!!

Possibly she broke loose in the '60s, along with the rest of Britain.
I looked up the actress, and boy is there an age difference! I'm sure being more or less a CGI character took off a lot of years. Silver lining, is she filmed the scene separately from Daniel Radcliffe :)
^^^ 'Siver lining'; is that an unintended pun I see?I hate that Ron only seems to have any useful knowledge in Deathly Hallows Part 2. It was quite aggravating to see how they dumbed Ron down in the movies. In the books intelligence wasn't his main personality trait, but he certainly wasn't as brainless as in the films.

Haha, I guess it was a pun. Definitely unintended, though :)
I agree about Ron. Not only was he dumbed-down in the films, they totally reversed his main personality traits. In the books he's a bit of a loud-mouth, has a temper (especially where Malfoy's concerned), and courageously dives into situations without thinking. In the films they sort of turned him into a simpering wimp, he's sort of soft-spoken, and spends a good bit of the latter books silently brooding.
Sara wrote: "Bahahaha. Your memes kill me. 😂 Every time I see this part in the movie, I always think, "Wow, she doesn't look very impressed....""Happy you got a kick out of that, Sara! Lol. I figure she's been around the bathrooms for fifty years, she's probably seen a lot, and probably would be hard to impress 😉
Aoife - Bookish_Babbling wrote: "Hahaha this movie scene was so perfectly hidden within a kids movie thay bubble movement tho 😂🤣"Glad you got a kick out of it Aoife! Yeah, it is kind of lewd for a kids' film. Probably with kids, whatever could be deemed inappropriate probably just went over their heads.
Sara wrote: "Hahahaha. So true. She must be a connoisseur of manhood at this point. :)P.S. Sorry to say "manhood" on your update for a children's book..."
Yeah, probably not the first time she's lurked in the boys' bath :)
Not to worry... I'm sure we all know that by "manhood" you mean proving his manly bravery during these tournament tasks 😉
Sara wrote: "Nope- my impression is that it is a regular occurrence for her! Dirty bird. Though I can't say I wouldn't do the same if I was a ghost trapped in a bathroom. She's got to pass the time somehow righ..."Well, stuck in a castle for eternity, she might as well have a hobby. Not like she can take up knitting or anything, I don't know if ghosts can actually interact with physical things, so any pastime would have to be a spectator sport... like bird watching – and by "bird" I mean the feathered, flying type :)
Sara wrote: "Hahaha. True! I think I'd take a spin around the U bend and explore the lake instead! How cool would that be? You could see all of the scary creatures and mer-people without worrying about being ..."
I'm sure she'd done her share of that too. I think I recall her saying as much in Chamber of Secrets, about her pipes emptying into the lake and so forth. Not being able to be killed is certainly a benefit to already being dead. Having no consequences to your actions will make you sort of fearless.
Though, I guess creatures and exploring would get old after a while, whereas there's always a new batch of students every year, and a new batch of prefects who use the prefects' bathroom.
Yyrtle is weird escpessially her laugh or talk I wondered how she loker alive
Audrey wrote: "Shirley Jones is not how I imagined Myrtle AT ALL. That casting choice still annoys me."Shirley Henderson? Well, my feeling about the casting is that ghosts don't age, so they obviously needed someone who was old enough where aging wouldn't be noticeable over the course of several films, and also one who could pass for a teenager. So, that sort of limits the choices. That is, unless they went full CGI with it, which I doubt was sophisticated enough back then to pull off.
Chelsia wrote: "Yyrtle is weird escpessially her laugh or talk I wondered how she loker alive"She probably looked about the same, just much less translucent :)
but of course I agree with you...:)
Uhh Myrtle....🙄She is the female version of Joe Goldberg . Soooo creepy but as a reader we enjoy her character . That girl is a drama Queen but adds entertainment to the book
Mrinmayi wrote: "Uhh Myrtle....🙄She is the female version of Joe Goldberg . Soooo creepy but as a reader we enjoy her character . That girl is a drama Queen but adds entertainment to the book"Child ghosts in films tend to be creepy by nature, but she definitely amps up the creepiness in this scene. Really, she does pair well with Harry, where he's an excellent straight man for her antics in their comedy duo :)

That's the name. She didn't match Myrtle's personality and looks that I'd gleaned from the book. The high-pitched whining grates my ears.
Audrey wrote: "That's the name. She didn't match Myrtle's personality and looks that I'd gleaned from the book. The high-pitched whining grates my ears."Yeah, I see that a lot with the films. Ron and Hermione aren't exactly their book selves either. Also, I agree about Myrtle's voice being difficult to listen to.
Audrey wrote: "When I read the books, I picture them how I originally did before the films were made."I do too, even though I first read the books after seeing the films. Especially with Hermione, who's hair isn't nearly as big and bushy as it ought to be.
I have Hermione hair as the book describes it. It's not cute like the films. I think we had four books when the first movie came out. Book 5 took forever to come out.
Audrey wrote: "I have Hermione hair as the book describes it. It's not cute like the films. I think we had four books when the first movie came out. Book 5 took forever to come out."We got a bit of Hermione hair in the sixth film when she got all frazzled by the felix felicis assignment. So they were able to pull it off if they wanteded. If it were like that all the time I'd be a happy camper.
I think my initial foray into Harry Potter was a little after book 5, so I wasn't a part of the big wait you mention. I was during the wait for book 6, though.
Young people today don't know how good they have it. We went through agony, waiting years for the next book. We would get together and brainstorm theories.
Audrey wrote: "Young people today don't know how good they have it. We went through agony, waiting years for the next book. We would get together and brainstorm theories."Yeah, I was right in the middle of that between books 6 and 7. On the bright side, at least it eventually came out. It's not like waiting a decade for the next A Song of Ice and Fire to be released.
I'm tired of waiting for Winds of Winter and I've only read the first book and novellas so far 😅. Martin better release it fast, especially given how disappointing the final season was
Aleena wrote: "I'm tired of waiting for Winds of Winter and I've only read the first book and novellas so far 😅. Martin better release it fast, especially given how disappointing the final season was"I think the moment's passed to capitalize on the show. Ideally it should have come out back when the show was actually decent. Now, I don't think anyone really cares like they used to. That final season really brought about some ill will.
People will still buy it, and it's still going to do massive sales, but I think they've lost the casual fan. I've read all five books twice, and I could care less about the next book. I'll probably still buy it, but I'll wait until it's on discount, and then I'll get to it when I get to it.
Manisha wrote: "Filmmakers take note, Ron’s not dumb.Poor Ron. He deserved better."
Yeah, not only was he portrayed as dumb, he was also an easily frightened wimp in the films. It's character assassination if I ever saw it. Definitely deserved better.
I totally get you. Everyone now knows the ending and the butchered approach to get there would have put a lot of people off. I also think that the same will happen for the prequel TV show - what's the point of watching it if you know the main series spiralled downwards
Aleena wrote: "I totally get you. Everyone now knows the ending and the butchered approach to get there would have put a lot of people off. I also think that the same will happen for the prequel TV show - what's ..."Yeah, it's not like the prequel will be based on the books in the same way the first handful of GOT seasons were. Without direct source material it's been well established that the people in charge are inept and clueless. What stinks is that most people think the show reflects the books, when the reality is the last couple books haven't been released or written yet.
They ruined Ron in the movies. But that aside this is a lot of people's favorite book in the series including mine.
