Notes:
(1) Krum's oddly puritan about Hermione possibly being with other guys. Who knew?
(2) Hagrid: “The less you lot ’ave ter do with these foreigners, the happier yeh’ll be. Yeh can’ trust any of ’em.”
Harry: “You were getting on all right with Madame Maxime.”
Hagrid: “Don’ you talk ter me abou’ her! ... You can’ trust any of ’em!”
- Xenophobic much?

Notes:
(1) For someone who doesn't think much of muggles, Fudge sure loves to wear their clothes.
(2) "Sirius Black!" [Mrs. Weasley] shrieked, pointing at him.
"Mum, shut up!" Ron yelled. "It’s okay!"'
- Often a good "shut up" is the quickest remedy for hysteria.
(3) Dumbledore forces Sirius and Snape to shake hands. Ever the teacher, ever the students.

Notes:
(1) Fawkes uses his tears to speed up Harry's wounds healing. That's handy... sort of like wizard Polysporin.
(2) Now that Fleur likes Ron and pays him attention, I guess she's not hot no more. Not surprising. (see gif)
- Alternatively, once kissed, perhaps her veela powers wore off.
- Alternatively, perhaps Ron's shifted his attention elsewhere.

Notes:
(1) Harry's first clue should have been that Crouch always called Voldemort "The Dark Lord." All upright wizards use "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named." The boldest just say Voldemort.
(2) Wonder if all the lip licking meant David Tennant needed ChapStick on standby?
(3) Karkaroff fled? Who's going to sail the ship back to Durmstrang? Magic, most likely.

Notes:
(1) Not the most impressive group of Death Eaters here. A bunch of no-names, Buckbeak's would-be executioner and some Slytherin dads.
(2) Wormtail speaks rat. Apparently being animagus gives you the ability to speak to animals. I guess McGonagall speaks cat.
(3) Voldemort gives a traditional villain tell-all monologue. A tad cliché if you ask me.

(1) '"Stop being noble," said Harry irritably. "Just take it, then we can get out of here."'
- Yeah, Cedric, stop being noble! Wait... no! Be noble! Take a dive!
(2) First student death, and the series is never the same again.
(3) Baby Voldemort is no Baby Yoda.
(4) Color-changing tattoos would be a goldmine!
(5) "Lord Voldemort had risen again."

(1) Harry: "Mrs. Weasley, you didn’t believe that rubbish Rita Skeeter wrote in Witch Weekly, did you? Because Hermione’s not my girlfriend."
Molly: "Oh! ... No — of course I didn’t!"
Narrator: "But she became considerably warmer toward Hermione after that."
(2) In North America we say "uh" not "er." The sphinx's password's "spiduh" to us.

(1) Continuity error. This is set in 1994, the Macarena (see gif) wasn't a thing until 1996.
- The male cheerleader on the right's creeping me out.
(2) "Fleur ... was eyeing Bill with great interest over her mother’s shoulder. Harry could tell she had no objection whatsoever to long hair or earrings with fangs on them."
- Fleur loves ze bad boys.

Glitchreads:
(1) Somehow, my recent review for "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" switched editions. Normally I'd switch it back, but it's the second review I've written for the book, and Goodreads only lets you switch the edition of either your earlier or more popular review. So now my book covers no longer match! and my OCD is driving me nuts!

(1) 'Both Harry’s and Ron’s [Easter eggs] were the size of dragon eggs and full of homemade toffee. Hermione’s, however, was smaller than a chicken egg. Her face fell when she saw it.
"Your mum doesn’t read 'Witch Weekly,' by any chance, does she, Ron?" she asked quietly.
"Yeah ... Gets it for the recipes."
Hermione looked sadly at her tiny egg.'

(1) Ron: "I told you not to annoy Rita Skeeter! She’s made you out to be some sort of — of scarlet woman!"
Hermione: "Scarlet woman?"
Ron: "It’s what my mum calls them."
- "Scarlet Woman" is one of my favorite euphemisms.
(2) I'm not gonna lie, I thoroughly enjoy drunk Winky.
(3) Gosh, house elves get downright mean when you insist they unionize.

I suppose so. I'll have to take your word on that, though. I don't really read romance-ish sort of books, so I'm not so hip to the terminology 😁
Well...these terms are usually used for the Male "love interest " There are several tropes: bad guy, nice guy, grumpy hero, damaged hero , alpha hero etc
I usually sort the characters from the book l am reading into Hogwarts houses .lt helps me analyze their decisions and actions.
Similar to this the S.O. of the MC also gets labeled into one of the 'guy types' 😊
Usually they are book crushes.....so l love sorting them into a particular type☺🙂

Sounds like fun. I enjoy sorting things too. I don't know if there are equivalent terms for female love interests. I've never thought of it before. But in terms of male love interests in books, you seem to have the science of it down pat 😁👍
Treece wrote: "Wayyy groovy vignette!"Yes, it's very "Alice falling through the rabbit hole." And Alice in Wonderland was way groovy and psychedelic. 😎👍
About the Hagrid part... it's also kind of funny because he is a half-gigant so he must have encountered his fair share of racism. Even more, seen a lot of it towards his brother -whom he seems to care a lot for - so him being Xenophobic is just either ironic or sad. But it also raises the question, just what happened for Hagrid to think like that?
Alexandra Elend Wolf wrote: "About the Hagrid part... it's also kind of funny because he is a half-gigant so he must have encountered his fair share of racism. Even more, seen a lot of it towards his brother -whom he seems to ..."I think it's just that Hagrid's prone to bad judgement based on emotion. Like, with Norbert in the first book. Obviously having a dragon around a school full of kids is a bad idea, but he let emotions cloud his judgment. It's similar here, but based on a negative emotion.
He was all in love with Madame Maxime because he thought he found another half-giant who would understand all he went through. But she was insulted by the mere implication, which had the added effect of insulting Hagrid too because he'd just admitted to her that he was half-giant. Plus, Karkaroff's a known former Death Eater.
Probably not having the money to travel, all the foreigners he's encountered have probably been bad people in one way or another. Heck, the World Cup was all about foreigners, and that ended up being a disaster. So, I think the whole xenophobic attitude is just Hagrid, once again, being a slave to his own whims, where everything is absolute. Molly's that way too, where she either hates you or she loves you, and there's no in-between.

It's kind of funny, actually, how several of Rowling's characters are that way. They get a first impression of you and either loves you or hate you and that's that unless reviewed under heavy circumstances.
It happens to Molly, Hagrid, and basically everyone when it's about the Hogwarts Houses. A lot of preconceived ideas.
I actually like how all of those are slowly upended and we get to see the other side of things and how first impressions -or generalization - is not the best way to judge someone.

Yes, I also enjoyed the slow evolution of perception in the books. For example, in the first book, the first we ever hear about Slytherin is Hagrid saying the house is essentially evil, which taints Harry so much that he begs the sorting hat not to put him in it. Of course, by the end, both Snape and Malfoy do heroic things essential to defeating Voldemort. It's nice when prejudices get upended by the seeping in of nuance.

Exactly. Pretty nice message for little kids.
