I only started this book because I'm very close to finishing "The Only Good Indians" and I'm not ready for it to be over. "The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter" has been a surprisingly delightful distraction so far!

People tend to hype this book up. While I am enjoying it some of the chapters feel like a slog to get through. The changing protagonist (while interesting and fresh) contributes towards my lacking motivation to devote my time to reading this.

At just shy of half the book I feel conflicted. I really want to love this book it has a lot of heart and potential, however, the pacing is awkward and I'm not really invested in the characters. There's still time for my mind to change, Axiom's End has witty dialogue and an interesting premise. I just hope Ellis knows where she's taking the story, at this point I'm unsure.

"You. Mrs. Christie, are going to commit a murder. But before then, you are going to disappear." A great hook to coax a reader into purchasing this historical fiction.
However I do not feel like Wilson has done a very excellent job of supporting that hook with an enticing story. His portrayal of Agatha Christie paints her as a weak emotionally unstable women, very damsel in distress. An injustice to her memory.
