Lisa is on page 186 of 480 of The Big Picture: On the Origins of Life, Meaning, and the Universe Itself
This is very slow going. After each short chapter I need to watch a YouTube video to reinforce the concept. This will take me a while!

Here is a sample sentence: “if a macroscopic theory has a domain of applicability that is a subset of the domain of applicability of some microscopic theory, and both theories are consistent, then the microscopic theory can be said to entail the macroscopic one...”. Yeah. Tough.

This is definitely slow going. I have to read each paragraph twice, and it’s starting to get more dense and complicated. I’m going to stick it out though!

This is an advance copy, so I can’t tell what page I’m on. It was a free Prime member book, and it’s better than the previous ones I’ve selected.

Very disappointed in this so far. Seems to be written for experienced chefs, with lots of jargon, French words and name-dropping. Not much to the story other than the chef's personalities, some French history and his struggle to move to France and cooking mishaps. He slags off MFK Fisher's writing early in the book, but his writing style is almost incomprehensible at times.

This book is very good, but slow going for me. In order to understand it, I’ve been reading just a chapter at a time and taking extended notes. Very well written.

Absolutely stellar so far! Great writing and an important story for all to know about.

This book is just OK. I had great expectations for it, having had it recommended by a friend whose taste and mine usually coincide. I find all of the characters slightly annoying except for Jonah, the illegitimate son. There have been some laugh out loud moments and Lombardo is definitely a very skilled writer, but it’s just not a page turner for me.

I’m going to force myself to finish this piece of crap, since I wasted $12.99 on it. This is a dumbed-down, indecipherable, and downright unpleasant rip-off of The Secret History. I want a refund.
