This so reminds me of "The Boys". Very interesting so far.

I have come to the conclusion that this needs to go on the "back burner"...I have not given up but I need to stop forcing this book. I have no idea what's going on and it's become dreadfully boring. I love the series but I think due to the success of the first book...the author felt force to continue the series when the first book could have been a stand alone. I will try again later. Feel really sad about this one.

So here's the thing. I avoided this book like the plague due to the hype it was receiving. I felt like I didn't want to be bamboozled by goodreads and booktube again by reading this book and falling victim to the hype train express. But...I gotta say it somewhat deserves it. I find myself wondering what if America became MidMerica. A scary thought. I'm just glad that this read has not been a big disappointment.

Chapter 6..."An Elegy of Scythes" Jesus Christ....the set up for that was just mind blowing. Like it's scary...you give individuals the power to kill...someone is bound to enjoy it and abuse it. My mouth was open the entire time reading this chapter. It's truly eye opening and I thought Scythe Faraday was bad. My god.

A chapter a day keeps me from DNF'ing this. I'm so disappointed but invested and hopeful that this will turn around. To be honest I don't have the slightest idea of what's going on. Hero's chapters keep me going...seriously. I got off the hype train a long time ago.

So out of nowhere this picks up and takes off...just like the anime. Lol. I was leaning towards 3⭐'s but what I've realized after reading the last couple of pages is this translation is written so well. Thank God I've seen the anime and the movies because I would be completely lost. The attention to detail and Batou's personality and sense of humor is on point.

It's like reading a long episode of Ghost in the Shell. Very detailed. It can be a bit overwhelming if your not familiar with the anime or manga. I've enjoyed it but at times it feels like I'm reading "filler".

Honestly this is not my speed. I enjoy a paranormal romance with a slow burn aspect. This took off too fast and it became boring to me. Now it's written well but the style in how it's written is annoying. The back and forth POV's is so over done. I mean if you like erotica this is for you. I like a trashy novel like the next woman but this was not what I expected. But I will finish it because the pacing is great.

Paranormal romance, kinky sex...the slow burn was super quick with this one....kinda disappointing but I get it...super over the top. I hate the back and forth narration between chapters. It's starting to become annoying. I understand you want to give a POV of both characters but I feel it's not cohesive and a bit disjointed.
