Really intrigued by the coreling character POV and some of what is alluded to. Beyond that, tons of a-holes in this world. Can't wait to see how the humans completely screw themselves, at least that's how I assume it's going to happen.

Main character still is a major a-hole, if Mr. Brett can pull it together it might be good. For me this feels similar in ways to the The Faithful and The Fallen characters Black Sun and Bright Star. We'll see how it turns out. I have doubts

I'm not a fan of the main character due to book 1 story. I've not heard anything so far in the book to change that opinion. Also, culturally it's just wildly oppressive. In fact if there was any POV of the merchant, maybe that would have been better so far. I can't imagine that there's going to be any redeeming for main POV, but maybe I'll be wrong.

Senlin meets an old acquaintance, how interesting.

I'm not sure I'm happy with what happened on the roller coaster. I'd guess there are ulterior motives but it seems pretty definitive. I wonder where the narrative goes from here, mainly driven by the spy mission? I guess we'll find out.

I'm not sure I like this world. Almost everyone is an a**hole. I get that it's grimdark or semi-post-apocalyptic, but c'mon man. Just seems like it's a constant emotional or physical beat down of the 3 main characters. I'm hoping there's some sort of uplift for these characters coming, otherwise it's downright depressing.
