I must say I like Haidie as she is a very clever girl with a sharp mind. And this story is set during the Civil War. I am unsure how she could actually find her father that she is searching for but I suppose she will use her wits. It's her strongest quality.

Well the horror part of this story just became very prominent! And it's definitely a tad gory and disturbing too.

I am learning a lot about president #15 in here, Buchanan. I must say I don't remember learning about him back in school?? I guess since he was president right before Lincoln, Lincoln stole all the fame ? But this book has tons of details in here...

Well Lincoln was elected president. And the southern states are very anxious about it too. But a lot of the anxiety that is plaguing them was caused by a prior event that had happened. The book is a bit dry in a few spots but other chapters are very easy read. The parts describing Lincoln were very interesting, his mannerisms and how he moved.

That Cheet is just awful! He took all the money and sent his brother and sister into an orphanage after their mother died!! But this story will be about them heading west to find their father. Hoping this will be a good story.

Woah... Washington DC sounds like an out of control cess pool in 1856. There was no law? People physically fighting and beating each other? And I don't mean drunks in the street but people running the country! Each side saw things very differently. But this book has easy flowing words and easy to read. I think I will enjoy reading this "story".

Ok, I just started this but the descriptions of Washington DC in here is utterly shocking!! 😮 They built the capital city on a swamp?? First you hear about the rich people in their fancy clothes and carriages, but then it describes the city: the constant stink, mosquitoes, swamps... It's such a juxtaposition!

This reminds me so much of classic Star Trek where Kirk + his officers would board some lost abandoned ship and you never knew what they would find. The possibilities are endless! So what will Petrova and Zhang find?!

Wow! The creepy stuff has started in here and it sure is well described! It reminds me of something from one of those supernatural ghost horror movies! And great characterization. But I feel there is something much bigger going on here. And why are they not one big happy fleet?? Who is causing this chaos??

This just gets more and more mysterious! I think it's clear that whoever sent them to Paradise 1 didn't tell them the truth about what was going on in this "peaceful colony" and now they are stuck in this mess! Excellent story so far.

So I am going to read something totally different and this is it. I am not one into politics or stuff, but our country's birthday is coming up so... Hopefully it will be easy to read. I did read the forward (before page 1) and that was very readable so I have hope. What started that war? I guess it will give more details.

Am I the only one who thinks that creepers are funny? 🤔 I suppose it depends what mode you are on.

I think I am about halfway through the book and I still have no idea of who the killer could be. There are several suspicious characters. The story is getting rather complicated like the previous books, which is why I like this series.

So the family who had the fire was very private. Might be very hard to find out any information. I had really enjoyed the first books in this series so hoping this was will be just as good + clever!

Wow. What a wild ride this is! It's like a cross between Titanic and Star Trek! Definitely loving this epic fic so far!

Lots of intense action already! Literally a life or death situation here.. and there are some very interesting characters too. It seems that these "unwanted scrap" is going to be forced to deal with some huge problem they may not be suited for - or are they? At least one has a bad anxiety condition..

I know someone who does that and it is so frustrating! Even the most simple questions are sometimes ignored.. And worse is I don't understand why the individual won't answer simple questions.

But I do think that Grady + Everly have that in common: the desire to solve cases.

I got up to page 78 last night before I got too sleepy to read anymore. Slept good as these books relax me. But once again Everly is being threatened by some unknown person even though she is not really snooping - yet. She just can't win can she? But things are heating up for her in the date department!

Wow... The formula from the previous books has been broken! What a shocker!!

I wonder how do you wash your face with cold water when up in space? 🤔

Ick!! 🤢 These descriptions are very graphic and icky! One better have a good stomach to read this. Glad I have aphantasia! Because this gory part is the true "horror" here.

Oh my ... This book is giving me all sorts of horrible ideas! And I just had another one! And what a whopper of an idea! Gwendy thinks her plan will solve her problem but what if there are Others out there? 😮 Bad bad bad!! A good book makes me think and this one is doing that so much!

Note to self: remember to be angry at Gwendy for what she did to the World Wonder. That is the most atrocious crime ever!! 😡 Yeah, I am careful not to say what she did here but I don't like it. I know sometimes it's all the rage to destroy those famous buildings and such in movies but I don't like it.

This book seems to mention/ hint at scenes or characters from other King books.. which is certainly interesting. I do vaguely recall one about some car being driven by some creepy person. And no, not Christine. I think there was another one. But I don't recall which it was. It was about a man traveling and trying to get home. Now my brain will be trying to guess that!

I saw this at my local library and felt in the mood for some good space horror. I am hoping this will be good. It seems a long time since I read a decent space horror book....

So I can't wait to see in what ways Lou is going to help Everly! I just love this book series. The majority of the books are very relaxing.

And so Gwendy's plan has been announced in the book. I am pondering how she is going to actually do it, because surely it can't be as easy as that. Not to mention her memory issues too. And how in the world would she explain that to the others if they see her trying to do that? That case isn't exactly invisible. Why did they let her take it up anyway?? 🤔

Wow... This book is blaming Covid on the button box! But the box is getting out of control and being a real menace.

What is Gwendy thinking, going to space with Alzheimer's??! She can't even remember how to do anything. This might be an utter disaster! How in the world did this get past the mission control people??

This is very intriguing. It makes me wonder why the deceased inn owner would hide a young child like that (especially if it was hers - which we don't know). I suppose there are other possibilities but then why hide the child?
