Honestly hate Elm's POV.

Have a lot of thoughts.
It's obviously the author's first ever fantasy novel, so I'm going to cut some slack for that but overall, entertaining but mediocre

Caveat is I haven't read the colonizer romance duology set before this novel.

The format is incredibly different but this one perspective feels repetitive

Obsessed with how good this is. A heroine whose determination is laced with grief, a love interest fighting for something larger than himself, a court of poisons and plots that pull them apart and a convincing side cast with their own determinations.

Are we looking at an all time fav? Possibly. Very Spin The Dawn but magic system is way cleverer

I have a few minor qualms but I love the author's prose and deeply infused familial love in this book.

This is obviously Moreno-Garcia's debut and not as polished as her other novels but damnnnn, she's been writing New Adult in SFF before it was a thing among the western girlies.

Anyway, this is fantastic!.

Very easy to read but very fractured plot. Doesn't really make alot of sense.

Gothic and gorgeous, The Book Eaters feel like I'm coming back home to the pages
