In the book, Sadie always made careless decisions which got her injured and dropped out of school. It concerned me because she could die. The only thing she cared about was to care for her sister. When her sister was murdered, the hole in her heart drove her to make irrational decisions just to get one step closer of killing the murder, to avenge her dead sister.

The directions in which this story goes are always is shocking. On top of that, the decisions in which the protagonist makes are often careless. For an example, when people are being caring to her, she is always hostile to back to them. Sadie also always makes careless decisions that gives her a smashed nose or cut up arm. It really unexpected and I could never predict what will happen next.

Being given the choice to read this or a love story, it got me hooked. The story reminded me of how I used to watch shows like CSI. I thought the book would talk a lot about the murdered sister but the book only briefly talks about the police investigation. Even if the story wasn’t like CSI, I still refuse to put the story away. It had stalking scenes and interrogations. This story hasn’t disappointed me so far.

In this book we are introduced to mainly different types of races. Elves, Dwarfs and humans. All with different traditions based on the race's environment. This got me to think how how in our world, we have mainly different traditions as well, all based on the environment.

Almost all people wish they could use magic to push their limits or fix their mistakes, but this book really reminds us how there are limits to even magic. Only through learning from our mistakes and hard work can we truly fix our problems and go beyond our limits.

The book tells us that even in the darkest hour we must have the will and motivation to go on.

Eragon reminds me of Bilbo from "The Hobbit". Eragon hated leaving his home, but after some months of getting used to adventures, he enjoyed all the magic and strange creatures he encountered that he almost forgot about his old home. Similarly, Bilbo longed for the comfort of his home at the start, but gradually enjoys the new people he encounters and travels with.

In this book it reminds me of all classic fantasy books, the powerful evil magic user trying to take over the world. The antagonist, Galbatorix reminds me of Sauron from Lord of the Rings. He hungers for powerful and uses dark magic to steal power from others, and he gets old enemies to betray their friends and join him. That's exactly how both Sauron and Galbatorix are similar.

I have been reading this book for the past week and it really change how I thought the Germans lived in Germany during the 1940s. At first I thought 90% of the Germans were happy, and every German had freedom. But it turns out I was wrong and Hitler removed almost all types of freedom, not just the freedom of press, assembly and opinion. I also thought the Gestapo would never take a child only grown-ups.

I feel like the author's style is to put a lot more detail in the surroundings and rather then how characters look. So sometimes I am confused who looks like what.

I can connect a part of the the story that when Cluny prepaid his army, it was like a scene straight out of the Hobbit where the Orcs prepare a massive attack at the dwarves.

I can connect what is happening in the story to "The Hobbit", Cluny the antagonist has his army outside Matthias' castle and wants to negotiate a peace treaty. This is a similar to "The Hobbit" when the elves were negotiating peace with the dwarves. Also Cluny did not speak to Mattias' soldiers and would only speak to their leader, so he had one of his soldiers do his talking. In the mid-evil days they did the same.

In the book "A Single Shard" Tree-ear raised his hand with a small sack of rice, that his friend Crane-man called a fortune. That means during this time rice must have been really hard to get because now we don't call rice a fortune.

During the beginning of the book Jax the main protagonist was in a hurry to catch his bus and when he missed it he was stressed. Usually when I miss my bus like Jax I would be in panache mode, just like what Jax's friend did. How Gordon Korman describe how Jax felt when he missed the bus was really like how it feels when you miss the bus your self.

Jax must have a frustrating life not being able to look at anyone without accidentally hypnotising them. He wears dark shaped sun glasses during the whole day so he doesn't make eye contact with anyone. People make fun of Jax wearing the sun glasses because they don't know of his abilities, this made him very irritated. Since Jax was being hunted by a evil hypnotist, he had to move from Manhattan to a small town.

I have started to read this book and I can really relate to the situation of the children. Sometimes my parents force me to go an a trip that I don't want to just like, Kendra and Seth. (e.g. When it's long weekends my parents sometimes like to take us on a trip to a museum that we have visited many times before.) Also, how Seth was exploring the forest is usually how I spent my free time back in Sweden.

I have gotten a good deal through the book and I really have a good picture of the world because how well Tolkien described everything. Also his description of Gollum makes it sound like he really is deformed. Some things I really like so far is how Bilbo has now complained less out loud after a few chapters, same with me when I was hiking.

I have come quite far in the book and I understand Bilbo's frustration of going on this adventure. During the summer I went on a hike up and down a mountain for half a week. In the beginning it was really hard and frustrating work, it was raining and I was constantly thinking of my conferrable bed back at home, just like when Bilbo thought of his nice fireplace.

I have finished the first chapter of the book, and I have been introduced to all of the protagonist in the book. Also how the movie illustrates Gandalf is different than the book. In the movie he has a grey pointed hat. In the book he has a blue pointed hat. Also some conversations are more amusing than the movie.
