During the beginning of the book Jax the main protagonist he was in a hurry to catch his bus and when he missed it he was stressed. Usually when I miss my bus like Jax I would be in panache mode, just like what Jax's friend did.

How Gordon Korman describe how Jax felt when he missed the bus was really like how it feels when you miss the bus your self.
