“Did I wake you up?” I asked Denna. “I don’t remember. . . .”

“In a way you did,” she said. “You nodded off and tipped right onto me.” Denna trailed off as she watched me slowly come to my feet. “Good lord, you look like someone’s arthritic grandfather.”

“You know how it is,” I said. “You’re always stiffest when you wake up.”

She smirked. “We womenfolk don’t have that problem, as a rule.”

“IT’S A DRAGON,” Denna whispered.

“There’s no such thing as dragons.”

“Look at it! It’s right there! Look at the huge goddamn dragon!”

“It’s a draccus,” I said.

“It’s a goddamn huge dragon and it’s going to come over here and eat us.”

“It doesn’t eat meat,” I said. “It’s an herbivore. It’s like a big cow.”

She looked at me, her eyes wide, & spoke softly with a slight quaver in her voice, “Mooooo.”

I push to my feet and head to the closet.

Shae tips his head to the side, and opens his mouth, but must get sidetracked from his original thought. “Your ass is a dream, Trace.”

“Sure you don’t wanna tap it?”

Shae laughs and falls back, clutching his stomach as I stand there and twerk in front of my closet. “No, but I do wanna eat it.”

“Well fuck. I want that too now.”

“Like you always knew you were gay, I always knew I wasn’t straight. I knew I wasn’t gay because I found everyone attractive. But bi didn’t feel right for me. Pansexual feels nice, but labels feel so restrictive. So if I had to choose—”

“And you don’t.”

“But if I did, I’m pan. But lean the most towards Shae-sexual.”
