Very well-written, but a little long winded and repetitive at time, and with way too many footnotes!

I agree with many of his arguments in principle, but I can't help but think about the publication date - many of his arguments rely on the economic rise of the middle class in the US, which has completely tanked since 1970, and income disparity has gotten worse, without pulling up the rest of society.

The data seem pretty good to me, but I would question a few of the basic premises. For example, he mentions that bonobos are probably much different than chimps and humans due to neotony - that youthful, baby-like appearance that domesticated animals like dogs and cats have. But, there is strong evidence that humans have also domesticated themselves - the reduction in muscle mass and jaw size compared to ancestors.
