OMG! I can see why Barthes analyzed Fourier together with de Sade. I'm really not sure how much of this is a spoof and how much is to be taken seriously.

I can see that this would have been highly influential when it was released, but I would recommend instead David Graeber's "Towards an Anthropological Theory of Value" instead. The discussion there incorporates much more new and updated information, as well as corrects some strange interpretations of Mauss.

Just finished volume 1. Highly recommended reading. Coming off of the high praise that Nasim Taleb lavishes on Popper, it is interesting to read the original.

OK. I'll admit I got choked up when Harry saw his family in the Mirror of Esired, which is called "mizono kagami" in Japanese, for those interested.

This one is much shorter than the Black Swan, and I feel it covers similar material, albeit in a slightly different fashion. Still, an enjoyable read so far.

Finished with the main text, but reading the appendix. Especially now in the (hopefully) fading aftereffects of the covid-19 pandemic, it is very easy to see how his message has been ignored or deemed "inefficient" by banks, corporations, and governments.

It's Christmas for Harry! I'm still enjoying the book and plan on reading the others in Japanese, but I have to say...Harry is a real ass. He has got all that money, and he doesn't think to give a single present to Ron or Hermione. Ron's mom only met him once and she handmade a sweater for him!!!

Finally reached his explanation of "barbell" investment and regulation. A really interesting thinker!

I can't say much about Rowling's writing style, as I am not seeing it directly, but the Japanese translation seems well done, and I'm enjoying the story so far.

The big thing that is annoying me now is how quidditch is clearly designed to make Harry a superstar at school, as if being "The Boy Who Survived" was not enough...And it just so happens that Harry is a nature broom-rider...
